Oy my goodness. I hadnt seen my sister for more than 20 years. I took her to Hu Tong for a special reunion dinner. And what happened? The staff keep interrupting our conversation every 15 minutes, pushing pushing pushing. Even taking away dishes before we were finished! They obviously wanted us to get out of the restaurant as soon as posible. How can they run a business like this? They clearly depend on tourists who go there once and will never go back, because obviously they will never secure

Even taking away dishes before we were finished! They obviously wanted us to get out of the restaurant as soon as posible. How can they run a business like this? They clearly depend on tourists who go there once and will never go back, because obviously they will never secure repeat business from local customers with awful service like that.

When the service is that bad, the food quality doesnt even come into the equation. Hu Tong, you stink. You destroyed the reunion with my sister. I am personally offended by your restaurant.

I booked a week in advance and requested the window seats, HK's night view is so charming, and this counts as part of the value. The decoration is fascinating, old Beijing style in a morden building seeing the lighting of HK Island.
The names of dishes in the menu sounds interesting, as it's kind of once a while place, we ordered the Chef's recommendations: Appetizer was the scallops with fruits, interesting combination and taste refreshing. Chili Chicken is served in a big basket, it's a Wow

. Spicy but acceptable, it's not that original or local and westerners cannot take it. Sweet and Sour ribs, so yummy and lastly we had the must-have item, 担担面.

The bad things are:
1. this restaurant is very popular, and they set 2 rounds for most tables that you have to leave by 8:30pm (we booked at 7pm). For people like me who love dining in a slow pace, it's a bit stressful.

2. As a Fine Dining restaurant, their service needs a lot improvement. People are pleasant but very rush. We sat down of less than a minute and they urge us to order. I believe, most customers there including us, were there the First time and we don't familiar with the menu.
3. All the appetizers, main courses and noodle are being served in 20 minutes, faster than low-end restaurant chains.

And we couldn't actually enjoy the "family dinner" with some chit chat, enjoyed the wine...but kept on eating because for Chinese food, it's better to eat when it's hot.
4. When we alomost finished, it was 8pm, i.e. 45 minutes to release the table, the waiters removed all the dishes, chopsticks and even my unused wet tissues. Excuse me, actually I was thinking to order one more noodle and dessert......We spent over a thousand there for 3 people, not a lot, but indeed, we expected a more relaxing dinner.


Be frank, I have been dining at many fine dining places, service counts a lot credit.
Overall, it's a good experience and worth to try, remember to take camera as the interior design looks gorgeous.

We hardly found a table with local diners. The staff also commented that there were not many locals dining in Hutong. 2. crispy de-boned lamb ribs - juicy and tender mutton, a palatable dish
3. pan-fried pomfret in scallion and soya sauce - tasted exactly the same as having the dish in China town; The flavour of coriander and scallion were so strong that they have already covered the flavour of the fish
4. fried salted fish with kale - the 3 big pieces of salted fish beneath the kale made the dish look weird and salted fish also became redundant

The riddle-like menu in Hutong was fun. However, we could not tell what cuisine that it really served as the ingredients and cooking methods were targeted at foreigners. I would rather visit a restaurant that would serve much colloquial food.

Six of us went to try out the so call famous restaurant Hu Tong on Friday. My comment on this restaurant is its a place for westerners and it doesn't worth the money. My experience starts from calling the restaurant for reservation one week before the dinner. I requested a table for 5 at 7:30pm. The staff then told me that we can only have the table until 9pm and there is a min charge per person of $300. I am thinking that I am not have a buffet dinner or a fast food dinner, why am I only a

Six of us went to try out the so call famous restaurant Hu Tong on Friday. My comment on this restaurant is its a place for westerners and it doesn't worth the money.

My experience starts from calling the restaurant for reservation one week before the dinner. I requested a table for 5 at 7:30pm. The staff then told me that we can only have the table until 9pm and there is a min charge per person of $300. I am thinking that I am not have a buffet dinner or a fast food dinner, why am I only allowed to have a limited time for dinner? I dont even have time to enjoy the view (which I think I am paying for)

On the day, I called the restaurant to change the booking from 5 ppl to 6ppl. The staff then tell me that all the tables for 6 ppl are full and the table cannot fit 6 ppl
What an attitude that they have!!!
When we reached the restaurant, we found that they have table for 8 ppl and there were no bookings for those table, but the restaurant did not offer us to have those table!!!!
6 of us were squashed into a table which were suppose to be for 2 to 4 ppl.

There are 2 dishes that I would advise you not to order:
1) 白沙春露 - there are only 6 green asparagus with white sesame dipped which cost $128
2) 蒙古燒 - 6 different types of vegetables on a big plate (around 15 pieces of beans, 2 mushrooms, 2 small slice of eggplant, 5 pieces of garlic, 2 asparagus, 2 slice of spring onions) which cost $148

The other dishes were not that fantastic. I would not pay for the money for this restaurant and will never go there again!

Heard that they have this amazing old Beijing store design, so we popped by for lunch. It was quite expensive but worth trying (for at least ONCE)! The view is spectacular and they do have some fancy design (especially the MUST GO horrific toilet! ) The food was nice and decent, love the Deboned Lamb especially. However, the portion for Spicy Noodle and Shrimp Fried Rice was rather small. I personally think this would be quite a nice spot for celebrating special occasions! Advice: Book early for

日間環境有特色,晚上加上燈光和夜景會更好,洗手間也很特別。星期日午市只有四枱人客。Waiter/Waitress 不夠經驗和不夠專業,不懂提供點菜意見,對菜色的認識不夠,服務反應一般,幸好客人少和態度友善。聖旨到 (招牌菜) - 冷 $158小辣,有少少酒味,聖子冷食很特別,好味。4星。翡翠玉餃 $88餃子,女兒喜歡,因比較貴,3星。見龍在田 (招牌菜) - 桂花魚配酥脆花生 $388銀雪魚很厚很夠份量,但可再滑一點。上面放上炒香的蒜和花生,和魚一起吃,很好味。4星。咸蝦炒飯 $118可囗,但沒什麼驚喜,3星。草綑牛骨 (招牌菜) $398份量夠四人吃,雖然沒有香草味,但每一片肉也很嫩有口感,三個人全部吃光。4星。

Crispy Deboned Lamb Ribs - This is absolutely the best! How the chef manages to make the skin so crispy and the meat so tender is a true testament of his masterful culinary skills.

Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Sichuan Red Peppers - Served in a red basket full of red peppers, this dish is so red you sweat just looking at it. And it tastes just as hot as it looks! There is no stopping us though. Bring on the rice, Baby!

Braised Beef Rib Wrapped in Lotus Leaf - Beef is tender but lacking in taste.

“Ma-la” Prawns with Sichuan Chili & Chinese Celery - Prawns are big and juicy, but aside from the spiciness, there is really nothing special about the flavor.

Spicy Ground Meat with String Beans - This is what surprises me most. A rather simple dish but done exceptionally well. I can eat bowls and bowls of rice with it.

又,問題是,我們第一次光臨,訂位的時候不通知客人,坐下的時候不通知客人,落order的時候不通知客人,menu又沒有印上設有最低消費,到最後最後last mintue才因為"唔夠數"而通知客人。他們必定以為每台客人都order鮑魚喇。
最後,我們局住order多三客甜品:好一個萍步青雲 - 炸萍果卷、炸芋泥和酒釀丸子。
甜品味道不錯,但如果一早知道的話,我們還是會多點兩個主菜來instead喇。

總括一下:胡同都是走西人路線,那晚所見,看不到有香港人。

鬼同事建議同客去胡同食晚飯, 很久之前我去過Aqua, 路經胡同, 覺得 menu 怪怪地, 不敢試. 事隔好幾年, 也好奇想試吓.我們6點多到達, 朦朧的香港維港景色實在非常美, Waiter 問我們要still or sparkling water, 十分西化($75 一小瓶). 我們點了四道菜.1. 鴛鴦戲水 - 是乳鴒 - 一開為二, 一邊炸, 一邊酒浸. $188 實在貴得過份.2. 果木燒牛 - 其實是牛肉粒+大蒜+蔥, 味道非常好, 但$268 也真是貴3. 草綑牛骨 - 是荷葉包牛腩,, 牛腩爽口帶荷葉味,幾特別, 但$388 就貴特驚人!4. 干偏四季豆 - 幾辣 $128 8 點維港激光會, 需然已經睇過好多次, 但今次在胡同睇, 又真的好靚.8成食客都是鬼, 其餘一成是亞洲遊客, 一成是本地人.食物質素很好, 服務也不錯, 裝修非常特別, 價錢的確貴, 但給客人的意外驚喜, 是值回票價的.

乾扁四季豆 - wok-fried string bean with dried chili & minced pork (出奇地唔油膩﹐肉碎亦炒得好乾身﹐但咸得制﹐送白飯一流)
白玲瓏 - shrimp & pork dumpling poached in superior soup (灌湯餃﹐好食)

青雲 - ice cream with crispy apple roll (椰子雪糕好有椰子味﹐個炸蘋果卷都好好食)

Service ok.. waiter 人數夠﹐而且英文唔錯﹐記得所有食物名稱﹐起每一道菜都有介紹。連飲既茶(當晚係桂花茶)既英文都知﹐仲識串添。同其他食評講既一樣﹐book台時講明9點要交台(我哋book 7點)﹐當晚都唔full﹐我覺得無咁既必要﹐不過我哋坐到9點多d都走啦﹐其間無人趕我哋﹐都ok啦。不過好多餐廳都無硬性規定幾點交台﹐我覺得走得高檔路線﹐一晚做一輪都不為過呀﹐等人食得舒服d。兩個鐘真係岩岩好架咋﹐想食飽坐多陣傾下計都唔夠時間。

但講到抵食就唔係好抵啦﹐咁既價錢﹐都無咩名貴食材﹐最名貴既應該係果粒米芝連星。要食veiw既話﹐上山頂食都唔洗呢個價﹐service 同樣very good。所以自己食飯一定唔會揀呢到﹐同呀爸呀媽黎更可能會挨罵添-_-“

十月十四‧晴出食評之時剛好得知這裡是米芝蓮一星店,可以這樣說,不奇怪。 如果我選地方吃川菜,不會選這裡,純粹是公關大員的傑作。事實上,這裡古色古香的環境,超靚的180度維港景致,又實在會令好多人嚮往。至於食物,不是說不好,而是以這個價錢,還可更好。 十人來吃,要了套餐,也懶得想。菜色方面,分「茗餚」、「御宴」、「鄉間野菜」、「家常麵點」及「甜品」幾個環節。中國人吃飯,當然喜歡一起分吃,但跟鬼佬吃,又好像是分好菜較為企理一點。在這方面,這裡是完全可以配套得到的,菜色分得快手又平均,很妥當。 「茗餚」是前菜,有四款。醉雞卷沒有酒香又實實的,不見坐處;涼伴鮑魚是甜美的鮑魚絲加上香菜及蔥,好吃又豪華;扁豆干絲混上了冬菇汁,清清的,不錯;還有一味是辣辣的螲子,蟶子很爽甜,但川菜用上蟶子,硬是覺得在西貢吃海鮮似的; 「御宴」是幾道主菜,豆酥桂花魚取了個名字叫「見龍在田」,吃起來豆酥鬆脆之餘,欠缺一點香味。桂花魚一向只是肉爽,味道沒有什麼個性的,洋人客人卻甚喜歡;「金蟬脫殼」是炸龍蝦仔,用上炸辣椒、洋蔥及炸蒜蓉蓋之,要了加辣的,吃起來真的幾辣,大家也眉飛色舞;燒牛肉是將牛柳切粒,但燒得熟了一點,偏韌

「御宴」是幾道主菜,豆酥桂花魚取了個名字叫「見龍在田」,吃起來豆酥鬆脆之餘,欠缺一點香味。桂花魚一向只是肉爽,味道沒有什麼個性的,洋人客人卻甚喜歡;「金蟬脫殼」是炸龍蝦仔,用上炸辣椒、洋蔥及炸蒜蓉蓋之,要了加辣的,吃起來真的幾辣,大家也眉飛色舞;燒牛肉是將牛柳切粒,但燒得熟了一點,偏韌了;「長城」是京燒羊肉,將羊肋起肉,下油炸之,上檯一字排開,大家也看得開心。羊是脆口好吃,下酒一流,不過就是幾貴的一道下酒菜色;

菜蔬是竹笙扒菠菜,芡下得重手,不像是川菜,是粵菜的手法吧;麵點是做得靚靚的蝦肉湯包,但外皮是硬的,洋人不懂吃,將醋加入上湯,骨碌骨碌的吃得大讚好。我吃了餡,也不花胃納了;甜點是碗豆黃併紅豆糕,俱好吃,個人而言,喜歡碗豆黃多一點,黃豆味很香。

我們坐在房內,四個侍應貼身侍候,服務是很好的。但這裡空間與空間的間隔其實只是一塊紗,所以如果隔離檯嘈起上來,是如坐出面一般嘈吵的。

又酒又汽水又支裝水,埋單每人八百三,以這個價錢,真的純吃環境。

所以,是次的食評就只有環境相,破天荒一幅食物照也不落,因為那才是來這裡的原因。

大家都知"胡同"唔係平價茶餐聽, 每人消費連酒水都起碼要$500以上. 已經提前兩個星期book位, 希望同男友去慶祝生日, 想book 7點半, 但他要我一定要7點到9點走!! 或者9點半才入座, 11點交台? 而家去canteen食飯呀?! 限時限刻!! 如果"胡同"想走高擋路線, 收得咁ge價錢, 就要令食客可以舒舒服服咁enjoy它的食物, 否則想趕鴨仔, 做多幾倫的話, 就要減價做到大眾化.人客唔係奉旨要去尼道食!! 連booking都咁差, 唔使食都知服務唔方好, 大家望下其他人的食評就知啦!算! 去其他餐廳洛!!P.S 佢target 外國遊客, 你估香港人唔識去其他英文網頁寫食評嗎??? 太短視啦!!

我第一次去呢間餐館,一上到去,漆黑一片,但向外一望,已經俾佢既無敵大海景所吸引,食景絕對係一流。四人檯都要等到九點半先有,因為任何時候都要book檯,雖則係星期四,但檯都俾人book到九點半先有,一食就食左兩個鐘。整體服務都唔錯,不過上菜就真係耐左少少,四個人叫左九個餸兩個甜品,聽落好似好多,但樣樣都係一般size,唔似廣東菜咁大大碟。九樣餸入面,我最愛就係個羊,烤到皮脆肉嫰,係極品,其他就失色左少少,而且偏咸,去到最後甜品,以芋蓉及蘋果圈作結尾,非常好味!特別一提,佢地裝飾好中國,周圍都有雀籠,尤其係個toilet,好有Halloween感覺!

I will never go to this restaurant again! 1) My company did some functions in this restaurant and the experience are not bad. So I thought I can bring my family to dinner on my bday. I booked a table for 4pax 2 weeks before and requested a window seat. The lady said she can't confirmed but will mark it down for me. When I arrived, they can't even find my booking and bring me to a non-window seat. I asked them and they said all window seats are full, but there were only 5 tables in the whol

I will never go to this restaurant again!


1) My company did some functions in this restaurant and the experience are not bad. So I thought I can bring my family to dinner on my bday. I booked a table for 4pax 2 weeks before and requested a window seat. The lady said she can't confirmed but will mark it down for me. When I arrived, they can't even find my booking and bring me to a non-window seat. I asked them and they said all window seats are full, but there were only 5 tables in the whole restaurant are seated (only 1 window table is seated). Later in the night, I found all window seats are occupied by foreigners. Be frank, I don't think all the foreigners booked the window seats 3 weeks before~

2) All staffs have no smile and in rude manner at all time. Don't know if they had any training! We were pushed to finish everything asap and they picked up the empty dish once I picked up the last piece for all time.

3) There was one appetizer, we haven't finished, half plate full before our main courses came on the table. The waitress came by suddenly to pick up our appetizer and pushed us to share/finished that appetizer. We all just shocked and asked her to put the plate down. Why push us to finish it? They can continue to serve main courses since there are spaces on table and this is not a western restaurant. They should not pushed us to finish everything as quickly as possible and make us leave early!

3) After all the main courses, they asked us if we want anything else, we said no, then they gave us the dessert menu. There are nothing special that we want, so we would like to have the bill instead. (Was already really pissed by their service at that time
)Then, the waitress said we haven't reached the minimum charge. I said then why don't they remind us about minimum charge when we first walked in, when we ordered food, or when they asked if we still want anything? There were no signage or no people to remind us about this minimum charge thing! They had cleaned up the whole table including our chopsticks and tea already when they said this. I mean we can order one more main course to fill the minimum at the first place!

4) I finally asked the manager to come and talk to me. He didn't even bother to give me any response during the whole conversation. He was just slience and didn't care at all!
