we placed orders for 3 common traditional sweet soups:
腐竹蛋糖水
we ordered cold, and the way they made it cold is really creative - when the sweet soup came, we didn't know why there're so many tiny cubes - they're not 腐竹 nor 蛋. they were tiny ice cubes that they poured in the sweet soup to make it cold. well. a creative way of presenting the tradition, guess they got the idea from ice tea. -_-
蓮子綠豆爽
ordered cold, and i got the same tiny ice cubes. but finally i cancelled this order, twice. first time, there're dirts inside. second time, the bowl itside was dirty - and the funny part was they tried to explain, the dirt on the edge of the bowl was NOT dirt, it was some mark of egg (蛋花). so it's the same right?! you didn't wash the bowl thoroughly and used it to serve the next customer and IT IS DIRT.
蓮子雪耳白合糖水
ordered hot. to be fair, taste good, not too sweet. however, it seems they have a really good business, so they really don't have the time to clean and provide the right quality of food. many of the 白合 had dark marks.
they're busy, and is a popular shop with a lot of advertisements, in chinese english and japanese. but it doesn't mean a necessary trade off with food quality and hygiene.
btw, why is it so popular??? 0_+
all i recall is DIRTY... DIRTY... DIRTY...
