This is really my first comment on Openrice and I am disappointed to start off with a negative comment on one of the well known restaurant in HK. At first, i didn't believe the comment on Sevva on the poor customer service. Today, I am totally convinced that the negative comments are really true. At first, i didn't believe the comment on Sevva on the poor customer service. Today, I am totally convinced that the negative comments are really true. I made a phone call to them today to reserve a table of 3 persons today and the receptionist lady answered my phone. The overall conversation was cold and blunt. I told her I am booking on behalf of a very important friend (she didn't know that I am also going and must have thought i'm a secretary to book on behalf) and asked there are any outdoor seatings for dinner and if not, can we be offered to sit in a more quiet environment. She said , "no outdoor, only inside for dinner. all our seats are in open area, we can't do anything about your request". I was totally pissed by the way she answered me. I told her , "why are you talking like this" and she said, "anything else i can do for you " . I demanded to speak to the restaurant manager.
She said she will put me through and immediately her tone changed to a nicer polite manner. I got transferred to the restaurant manager Mr. Chan. Before I had a chance to talk about what had happened, he told me, "Mr. Law, I believe my staff was in the most "proper way" to talk to you just now, is there anything I can do for you " . I was shocked and furious. I told him about how rude she was and he then said, "you know Mr. Law, sometimes it is easy to misunderstand a person's manner over the phone as you don't get to see them in the face. Maybe my staff was very busy at the time when you called her and thefeore she was only rushing to get the booking done"
I told him at first I didn't believe in the negative comment on openrice and now I had experienced it. He then said, "so what else do you want us to help you are you still coming tonight or not". I didn't want to cancel the booking yet and so I said "yes, i am coming" and hanged up.
Thank you Sevva for letting me know poor the customer service is at your restaurant over the phone before spending money at your restaurant. Being popular with a panaromic harbour view is not an excuse to get away from excellent customer service. In fact, I think you have earned now as I am writing this comment to the public so that you can do something about it.
