是日小妹同姊妹豪食afternoon tea, 少女心事當然要食住下午茶傾啦。姊妹話想食scone, 講到出名的scone 都離不開三數間龍頭酒店, 又本於朋友話冇食過東方文華就再度拜訪喇。其實幾年前初出茅廬時, 已經一嚐文華最馳名的玫瑰果醬, 坦白說我就覺得冇特別,個人偏好啖啖肉的士多啤梨醬至少吃下比較有口感。不過比較特別的是, 經理介紹下先知道原來每月第一個週末下午茶menu都會少一點甜品多咸點, 要不然真的甜死了!相比起兩三年前, 整體的tea set都好吃了有機會及閒晴逸緻絕對可以再來呀

不過比較特別的是, 經理介紹下先知道原來每月第一個週末下午茶menu都會少一點甜品多咸點, 要不然真的甜死了!

相比起兩三年前, 整體的tea set都好吃了
有機會及閒晴逸緻絕對可以再來呀

難得週中有假期,一心想著相約知已到SEVVA來個HIGH TEA,怎知大家都是遲到人,2點半才到當然沒有位置.所有HIGH TEA習慣的人都知道,SEVVA沒位置的話,第一時間一定要飛奔到文華酒店呢來到文華酒店,當然也不是立刻可以坐下HIGH TEA啦,沒訂位是不能立即進入,所以只能等侯侯補呢大約3點半左右終於可以入場,當然選擇這裡最出名的TEA SET啦有人喜歡由上至下甜食至咸食,亦有人是傳統地由下至上咸食至甜食.我是個傳統的中國人,所以都是由下至上開始吧.芝士三文冶,麵包入口鬆軟,芝士輕怡,簡單中帶點不平凡.批亦十分香脆,好的開始第2層要特別提到的是紅莓撻,新鮮的紅莓加上鬆軟的撻,入口香甜軟滑.檸檬批味道則非常清新,輕輕的檸檬香味配上堅韌的批是絕配的組合第3層的名星當然是鬆餅吧,本人大愛鬆餅,鬆餅口感軟熟中帶點堅韌,咬下去真的有種齒留香的感覺.配上這裡馳名的咖啡令人有種美妙的感覺就這樣渡過了一個優雅的下午

有人喜歡由上至下甜食至咸食,亦有人是傳統地由下至上咸食至甜食.我是個傳統的中國人,所以都是由下至上開始吧.

芝士三文冶,麵包入口鬆軟,芝士輕怡,簡單中帶點不平凡.批亦十分香脆,好的開始

第2層要特別提到的是紅莓撻,新鮮的紅莓加上鬆軟的撻,入口香甜軟滑.檸檬批味道則非常清新,輕輕的檸檬香味配上堅韌的批是絕配的組合

第3層的名星當然是鬆餅吧,本人大愛鬆餅,鬆餅口感軟熟中帶點堅韌,咬下去真的有種齒留香的感覺.配上這裡馳名的咖啡令人有種美妙的感覺

就這樣渡過了一個優雅的下午

文華東方酒店下午茶一向都出名,因此都要訂咗兩個禮拜先有兩個位,但係點都要試吓架啦!文華東方酒店有兩間餐廳都會提供下午茶,一間Cafe Causeette另外一間係快船廊,但今次我只係試咗其中一間,下次先試下一間先再同大家介紹吓。今次食Cafe Causeette同個朋友約咗好耐架話食呢間下午茶,我就訂咗3點半但係3點10分就已經去到,由於早咗到,待應叫我倆等多一陣,大概三點半到終於可以入去喇,果然真係好多人等。等咗咁耐即刻落咗個二人下午茶,我都係照舊叫咗烏龍茶而我朋友叫咗款香片,呢兩款茶消濟以解決咁濟既鬆餅。5分鐘到,下午茶同個鬆餅黎到喇,個鬆餅黎到仲係微熱既尚算ok。今次鬆餅醬唯一唔同既係用上新鮮人手製做既玫瑰花醬味道淸新好好味另一款都係牛油醬比較濟。食完鬆餅,即刻食鹹點,鹹點大多數好好食,與其他酒店一樣點心都是一樣三文魚三文治,甜品如是一樣好味。

I started with the scones – there was one raisin and one classic scone in the box, both were warm and freshly baked. The texture was great, ideal to pull apart and add cream and jam to it. I always add cream at the bottom and then jam on top, but of course, everyone is different.

The cream seemed to have curdled a little or maybe it is because of the humidity in Hong Kong, but it was not that great – I added very little and instead concentrated on the rose petal jam. Surprisingly I did like it, although I don’t like rose water – but it worked well with the freshly baked scones.

Next up, I enjoyed the bacon, onion and cheese quiche (nice, but not too special) followed by the amazing croque monsieur made with cheese and truffle (no wonder it tasted so good – the best cheese sandwich ever!).

The sandwiches were ok – the pumpernickel with salmon and cream cheese was a little bit dry while the ham, mustard and wholemeal bread sandwich was a little too soft (but that’s my personal taste). The cucumber, dill and egg sandwich was fine. All together, the sandwiches were just standard – nothing to excite me.
Then on to the dry cake – a very yummy lemon drizzle cake with the right balance between sweet and sour. The fruit cake was densely packed with flavour, lots of raisins and orange peel – but VERY sweet. I needed a lot of green tea to enjoy the cake, but then isn’t that what you expect from a fruit cake?
Finally, the pastries. A coffee eclair that was a good combination between chewy, soft and crunchy chocolate on top. A small American cheese cake (which initially looked like a cookie to me) that was very rich – and finally a chocolate, coffee and hazelnut cake that was just divine. I love the taste of rich dark chocolate balanced with coffee.
So what are my thoughts, would I go there again? Yes, for the croque moniser, the rose petal jam, the lemon drizzle cake and the pastries. But not so much for the sandwiches and the fact that the Mandarin Oriental (out of all places) had run out of Dragonwell tea!

最後當然是American Cheese Cake(HK$45),還點了Blueberry Tart(HK$45)﹗ 說真的,Cheese Cake倒是沒有我記憶中的超美味 (當然也是優質的),我似乎愛吃昨晚在Starbucks品嚐的Blueberry Cheese Cake多一點(個人口味而已)。而Blueberry Tart餅底非常鬆脆,賣相精緻可愛,值得一讚﹗

這個美麗的早上,慶幸能跟好友一同度過呢 ^_^

自從在網誌分享飲食後,很多朋友都羨慕我經常食好嘢,有時一餐有成十道菜,確實豐盛得很,但實在未必需要餐餐都如此豐盛的,對健康也並非好事,要吃得飽,三道菜已經足夠了,所以可以偶爾一餐大堆頭,其餘時間便吃個較輕便的,取個平衡就是保持健康之道。這晚來到Mandarin Oriental文華東方酒店,位於閣樓的Café Causette,在文華餅店隔離,高貴的外表,其實都供應健康和簡單的食物,剛剛這期都推出兩道($248)及三道菜($348)的晚餐。看看Menu,前菜以沙律為主,Main Course就供應肉類和意粉,甜品則有芝士餅及雪糕等,我就選三道菜套餐,在三類各選一樣食物。前菜我揀了Tomato and Basil Salad番茄羅勒沙律水牛芝士配羅勒雪糕,再加整個番茄,清新得來又有很滑溜的感覺,和青草的芳香,作為前菜是十分醒胃之作。這晚想吃魚,所以主菜揀了Pan-Fried Sea Bream香煎鯛魚鯛魚加上大量薯仔和洋蔥,味道就變得很濃郁,而醬汁則偏甜,加了很多香草材料,令整道菜好香甜,但我認為略為甜了點,如果可以調得輕一點就更好。甜品方面,這個Crispy Chocolate Dev

這晚想吃魚,所以主菜揀了Pan-Fried Sea Bream香煎鯛魚

鯛魚加上大量薯仔和洋蔥,味道就變得很濃郁,而醬汁則偏甜,加了很多香草材料,令整道菜好香甜,但我認為略為甜了點,如果可以調得輕一點就更好。

甜品方面,

這個Crispy Chocolate Devil Cake特濃朱古力蛋糕,配冧酒雪糕,保持文華的一貫精緻和高貴,朱古力相當之香濃,雪糕相對清淡,兩者並沒有搶走對方的風頭,雖然名字有 “Devil”,其實只是小魔怪,未至於很邪惡,應該不會令我多幾磅肉吧!

吃了三道菜其實已經飽了,但文華的海南雞飯 ($268) 向來出色,我們便建議叫一客來Share,確實很有大將之風,雞肉很有爽口而又滑,雖然並非我個人最愛的海南雞飯,但亦是水準之上。

這個三道菜的晚餐其實已經好豐盛,未必能說是很健康,但相對Buffet和放題等大埋頭,這餐就屬於輕鬆易入口的,為Balance life乾杯!

2nd day in Hong Kong during a recent trip and we originally wanted the high end tableside cooked "Iberico bacon and duck eggs" at the Bar & Grill. Unfortunately we didn't realize they were closed on weekends. So Cafe Causette was open luckily, and we decided to give them a try.

We were promptly seated after waiting a little close to 5 minutes, and were brought to a table in the back. The cafe was not busy, although it was nice of them to seat us further back where it was a bit more quiet.

Our friends ordered a mixed fruit juice which she liked, and I ended up with a Cafe Au Lait which I enjoyed.

The Ricotta Pancake in a skillet was very presentable, and while I did not have a taste of it, my friend enjoyed it quite a bit.

I chose a similarly priced yet one of the cheaper options on the menu, which was an egg florentine/poached egg on English muffin. The poached egg was done very nicely, and I would say I enjoyed the fluffy texture of the egg white more than the yolk!

A simple, pleasant, yet efficient hotel breakfast. Polite effective service as well.

星期日難得可以慢慢嘆午餐,我點了越式牛河。內有白蘿蔔、生菜及大量牛肉。不過湯底很淡,近乎無味,跟我一年前來吃有很大分別! $248實在不值!另友人點了炸魚薯條。這個不得不讚!鱈魚多汁嫰滑,炸槳厚度適中,旁邊的薯條金黄,完全不能停口!這個也是$248,那這道菜比較抵!

中環「文華東方酒店」的「Cafe Causette」是我喜愛吃 business lunch 的地點,一來出品穩定,環境 decent 好傾偈,二來地點就腳,在香港 / 中環地鐵站沿 Landmark 行過去也不用日曬雨淋,最啱我呢種兩袖清風唔帶摭的西裝友。。。咁每次來我通常會叫乜?九成九唔使睇餐牌我都會揀「海南雞飯」$268。說真,價錢不算便宜,「海南雞飯」要做得好卻也不是易事哩。首先我會先睇醬汁,如果有黑甜醬油膏附上 (是杰的品牌㖿!) 就知是認真的製作;第二是雞油飯,要香軟油潤,帶有輕輕香茅南彊味:三是雞肉滑而且上湯滲進入雞肉,雞胸肉不鞋就合哂我荷車 (湯反而我不太著緊),「文華東方」的出品就做到我心目中的條件,所以這晚來「Cafe Causette」吃飯,條件反射下我也是點了「海南雞飯」。。。咳咳。。。言歸正傳,今晚來其實主要是和好友們吃 set dinner 聚聚舊,天南地北無所不談。頭盤選擇有「Ricotta Salad 暖芝士無花果,蜂巢蜂蜜沙律」「Fresh Handmade Pasta Sheets 香草自製闊條面」「Tomato and Basil Salad 番茄

中環「文華東方酒店」的「Cafe Causette」是我喜愛吃 business lunch 的地點,一來出品穩定,環境 decent 好傾偈,二來地點就腳,在香港 / 中環地鐵站沿 Landmark 行過去也不用日曬雨淋,最啱我呢種兩袖清風唔帶摭的西裝友。。。

咁每次來我通常會叫乜?九成九唔使睇餐牌我都會揀「海南雞飯」$268。說真,價錢不算便宜,「海南雞飯」要做得好卻也不是易事哩。

首先我會先睇醬汁,如果有黑甜醬油膏附上 (是杰的品牌㖿!) 就知是認真的製作;第二是雞油飯,要香軟油潤,帶有輕輕香茅南彊味:三是雞肉滑而且上湯滲進入雞肉,雞胸肉不鞋就合哂我荷車 (湯反而我不太著緊),「文華東方」的出品就做到我心目中的條件,所以這晚來「Cafe Causette」吃飯,條件反射下我也是點了「海南雞飯」。。。

咳咳。。。言歸正傳,今晚來其實主要是和好友們吃 set dinner 聚聚舊,天南地北無所不談。頭盤選擇有「Ricotta Salad 暖芝士無花果,蜂巢蜂蜜沙律」

正宗意大利菜很多時都會挑澱粉質做頭盤,那我就選了香草自製闊條面,羅勒香草醬佈滿在煙韌的麵條兩邊,香氣撲鼻,胃口小的女士們分分鐘吃完已半飽。

吃完雞,我又吃鵝!份量非常的多,鵝肉若煮得不好的話會很韌及騷,我通常比較少點,這晚向大廚請教,原來他先將鵝調味後風乾48小時,再用低溫慢煮胸口肉至 medium well,做出肉質軟嫩多汁的效果,肉中心仍呈現嫩粉紅,味道帶微騷,確弄得不錯。調味我則略嫌重手了點,若微調一下相信能更吃到鵝香。

這晚我們也有從 a la carte menu 點一些特式菜互相分享,「Grilled chicken, beef and lamb satay 雞肉,牛肉和羊肉沙爹」 $158

三者我都只是淺嚐,印象最深刻是「雜菌松茸焗飯」,它是用火來烘著上的有味飯,沒有「焗」的感覺,反而似西式煲仔飯,松茸味邊烘邊散香,而且吃到最底層還有飯焦呢。

Set dinner 還可選甜品,「Crispy Chocolate Devil Cake 特濃朱古力蛋糕」

另點的「Mandarin Cheese Cake 文華芝士蛋糕」$108 最得我歡心,芝士是 New York Cheese Cake 的 friend,質感更鬆軟,上層是微酸的紅莓子雪糕,兩者合起來吃味道不太甜,剛剛好。

就算食上幾多的醬,也不會覺得很甜。而且玫瑰的香氣是新鮮撲鼻的那種。不會覺得是很化學的添加香味呢!很喜歡!當然,隔離的牛油也是很好食的!食Tea的時候,會習慣在咸甜點中間喝一喝茶,沖一沖口中的味道。

這樣才可以品嚐到真一點的味道吧!

後來不夠喉,再點了這個藍莓雪糕配藍莓芝士蛋糕。

一如之前所說,這裡的芝士蛋糕太好味了!單點的份量,是比我的茶杯還要大。

所以配上雪糕或藍莓醬的酸酸甜 甜,也正好中和了!好好味呢~~

總結這一餐,文華的甜點是依然出色。但不知是否想引人再買甜品,所以下午茶套餐的甜點少得可憐!咸點嘛,稍遜,要再加努力!

Review: A non-traditional Thanksgiving meal with my girls - thanks Yuls for picking the restaurant! Thanksgiving isn't huge here in Hong Kong, but a lot of restaurants do have Thanksgiving-themed dinners during that week. Cafe Causette offered a buffet style multi-course meal, served tableside. You can order refills for any dish, which they will bring to your table. We started with warm cheesy bread with pesto dipping sauce. The appetizers arrived promptly. The classic combo of San Daniele ham and creamy burrata was elevated by the warm caramelised peaches and the crunch from the candied walnuts. The beetroot-cured salmon was beautifully presented alongside the ricotta, lavender, olive oil caviar and fresh figs - such pretty colours! We also had traditional Thanksgiving turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce, honey glazed ham and sweet potato mash. The turkey and ham arrived at our table pre-carved. The turkey was surprisingly moist, and the honey ham was tender and had well-balanced flavours of sweet and savoury. As for the desserts, I liked the pecan pie with its perfect buttery crust the most. Each serving was very generous and we were too stuffed to order any refills. The leftover turkey and ham (being el cheapo of course I took everything home) made a great breakfast sandwich the next morning. I am thankful for great friends and great meals, as always.

The classy international restaurant Café Causette has just launched a new pop-up menu - Lobster & Bubbles, pairing the two lavish goodies together to excite our palate. Cafe Causette is an elegant restaurant framed in traditional Chinese red lacquer with a relaxed and causal ambiance to dine in. The restaurant offers all day dining featuring international items but also well known for Asian dishes such as Nasi Gorend and Hainan Chicken. The lively show kitchen at the back of the restaurant is for the curious ones to observe the cooking skills of the brilliant chefs.

How evil is the chef thought of pairing lobster and champagnes into an irresistible pop-up menu? This menu has over 15 lobster dishes, each and every dish equally attractive. So let aside Cafe Causette traditional a la carte menu, we are all in for this Lobster & Bubble menu tonight.

To kick start the night, we had 2011 Schramsbery "Blanc de Blancs Brut", which will be the main sparkling wine pairing tonight. The American bubbles was dry and fruity with smooth effervescence and mild acidity. This taste was not too exciting but was pleasant to pair with the courses.

Our first course we had was two mouth watering lobster skewers served on a charcoal BBQ port. These lobsters skewers were cooked to perfection, sweet and juicy with a lovely smokiness. The mayo further elevated the sweetness of the lobster, great pair.

The taco was one of the most anticipating dishes tonight. It was served on a crisp hard taco that I love. The taco held lots of chunky lobster meats and crisp iceberg lettuce dressed with colourful sauce of lemon, ketchup, Japanese Mayo and English Mustard, which combined to give a wonderful flavour on the palate.

The tempura batter was light and grease free, the sweet potatoes and pumpkin was fresh and delicious. I love this tempura dish, but not the lobster as it was a bit over cooked and quite tough in texture.

Lobster Dog - HKD228
The Lobster Dog aka the Lobster Roll was my most anticipated dish but was sadly disappointing. The toasted sesame bun was good, the chunks of lobster meats were fantastic, but the dressing was messed up as the strong English Mustard overpowered everything on the bun. A slight adjustment would make this lobster roll one of the best in Hong Kong.

I found most joy devouring the thermidor lobster. Cooked to perfection, the lobster was sweet, creamy and juicy. The fries, looking ordinary, was absolutely amazing! The surface was utterly crispy and the inner was creamy and potatoy. This might be one of the best fries that I had in my life.

I am not very fond of Mac & Cheese, so I could not share the joy as everyone on the table. I found Mac & Cheese often too heavy and cheesy, Cafe Causette's version was still rich but it had a nice crunchy layer of oats on top which I like.

Lobster Bolognaise - HKD268
While thinking I already had the best dish of the night, here comes another heaven on Earth dish - the lobster Bolognaise. The plate came with a drooling aroma permeated the air. The flavour was unbelievably addicting, with sweet tomato sauce, spicy saffron and fresh parsley on the al dente linguini. My favourite and the best of the night.

This is a classic Asian wonton soup with lobster dumplings. I found the lobster tasted bland in the wonton and I had to add spicy sauce to top up the flavours. I guess I do not like my lobster to be served in wonton.

The Mandarin Cheesecake is the love of the table. It was a rich, creamy and dense cheesecake with light cheese flavour. The cheesecake was not too sweet, so the sweet blubbery compote and the cassis ice-cream were a great pair to top up some sweetness.

My all time favourite apple crumble was excellently executed at Cafe Causette with brilliant flavours and a nice crunchy top. The hazelnut flavour was however too subtle for me to notice, but this warm crumble ended my night perfectly.

One can never have enough of lobsters. It might sound crazy that I have nine courses of lobsters tonight, but the lobster dishes were too scrumptious that you will not be able to aware how many you have taken.

This Lobster & Bubble menu is available by a la carte, with starters priced at HKD168+ and mains at HKD228+. You can opt for two or three courses with a glass of bubbles at HKD408 and HKD488 respectively. Or get the Surf and Turf (grilled lobster) with half a bottle of bubbles at HKD1188. If you are a dessert lover, a happier option would be a dessert platter with half a bottle of Billecart for HKD948! Seriously, given the quality of the lobster and eating at one of the best restaurants at Mandarin Oriental is a super deal not to be missed.
