From the first time I tried it last year, I knew it was going to be a success from its loud and bold decor to its stylish artsy fartsy cake boxes.Sadly, I have missed so many of their brilliant creations because the food scene in Hong Kong keeps you busy with so many new openings and trends.Looking at their FB, they had some really good tarts that I missed and hopefully I won't miss it next time such as the CHERRY & TONKA TART, Cherry pandan, STRAWBERRY PISTACHIO TART  and the Champagne and lych

Sadly, I have missed so many of their brilliant creations because the food scene in Hong Kong keeps you busy with so many new openings and trends.

Looking at their FB, they had some really good tarts that I missed and hopefully I won't miss it next time such as the CHERRY & TONKA TART, Cherry pandan, STRAWBERRY PISTACHIO TART  and the Champagne and lychee.
On this visit, I managed to try peanuts banana, fresh lime and yuzu chocolate.

I don't normally pick banana but this was surprisingly good because it is not too sweet and lighter than it looks with a delicious banana taste.

yuzu chocolate:

The yuzu has a wonderful tart citrus flavour that balances the chocolate just like orange and there is a layer of yuzu liquid that will burst out when you take a bite.

巧克力味道非常濃郁,中間有一層薄薄的raspberry 醬,Thibaut手舞足蹈地說raspberry是用以中和濃烈的巧克力,是經過精心思量的產物。

這裏的tart不但賣相精美,而且吃得出用料講究、製作認真。不論是撻底、果醬、忌廉,抑或海綿蛋糕,盡見法國男的匠心獨運,絕對是「實力tart」。

最較人驚喜的是,我們吃了這麼多,卻沒有一點飽滯的感覺,真正做到甜而不膩。

牛奶朱古力柚子撻 Yusu Chocolate 的味道與檸檬撻一樣略帶酸感,柚子果味比朱古力味更勝一籌。對於魚仔而言,最欣賞的部份是面上三顆亮麗的「珍珠」,輕輕的點綴成功為甜品添上一份貴氣。

喜歡朱古力的朋友,十居其九會挑選這件覆盆子朱古力撻 Raspberry Chocolate。在濃郁的朱古力味下,覆盆子成功找到合適的位置,味道相夾。或許可可的濃度確實高,感覺上更帶有微微的煙草味道,屬餘韻持久的作品。

Since i am crossing over to HK islands today, i decided to drop by and see if it lives up to its hype. It was located just beside the western market terminal and even though it catered more to take-away customers, it do have some chairs for customers to sit down and relax. The menu was very straightforward and has only 9 selections. The menu was very straightforward and has only 9 selections. Since i have some time to spare and the co-owner was very warm-hearted, i decided to have a chat with him. He told him that they tried to keep it simple and as the name of the tarts suggest, most of them consists of only 2 flavours at most. It is to allow customers to taste what they are eating and not over complicate it. Most of their ingredients were sourced overseas. From just a long duration, i could sense that he was really passionate at what he was doing and do stick to his own principles regarding the quality control etc.

Sesame Matcha - It contained only 2 flavours, that are black sesame and green matcha. When he helped to slice it into half, i could clearly see every layers on it. Most of their tarts consist of the crunchy base, sponge cake and cream. Matcha taste is very strong and if i am a lover of matcha, i will like it. The sponge cake was so soft that i could barely taste or feel it. Crunchy base was hard and crunchy. Together with the black sesame taste, it make a good combination.

Fresh lime - I decide to buy 2 tarts to bring home to share with my family. Lime was strong in flavour and was sour. It was good for digestive system after my dinner.

Raspberry chocolate - As a chocolate lover, i could not resist one. Chocolate was thick and heavy and it perfectly suit me. Raspberry compliment well with the chocolate, and was bitterly sweet.

These french tartes are delicious. At first, you can think that it is quite small but when you eat one for the first time, the taste and quantity is very well balanced. Taste is a mix between Japanese and French food and it gives the best flavour. Staff is really nice and can advise you in case of hesitation

A nice little place near my hood. The tarts are pretty classic but once you cut into them, you will find interesting layers and details which are what make them special. The size is slightly smaller and price a bit higher than some of the others out there, but I think they are worth a try if you are fussy about your pastries. The crust was buttery and crunchy and I didn't taste any weird ingredients so far.

Went to purchase 13 for the office.  There were 8 flavours available ( the matcha sesame was sold out) and they gave us the 13th one free as they have a loyalty card for 1 free tart after the 12 one.We have tried almost all the cake shops in Central and Sheung Wan and I can definitely say Tartes and Pop's tart case / base is the best one I have tasted in Hong Kong.  I am sure they use very good butter, sugar and flour - you can taste the quality in the ingredients.  I tried the champagne and lyc

We have tried almost all the cake shops in Central and Sheung Wan and I can definitely say Tartes and Pop's tart case / base is the best one I have tasted in Hong Kong.  I am sure they use very good butter, sugar and flour - you can taste the quality in the ingredients. 

I tried the champagne and lychee tart and the lime tart.  Both were delicious.  You could taste the champagne but it was not very alcoholic and the taste was very delicate.  The lime tart was zingy.  Both were not sweet - the balance of flavours was good.  The other flavours must have been very good as well as there were nods and murmurs of content and satisfaction around the room.   

The guy who served us, one of the owners I think, took a lot of care in packaging the tartes - you could see his pride in the product. 

They are not the most fancy looking tarts - if you want something really polished and gimmicky go to one of those high-end cake shops in IFC but for taste, Tartes and Pop exceeded my expectations.  We will certainly be back!

今日係上環飲完茶之後,想到之前大人氣既法式甜品店就係附近。食到飽飽都要過去探下路 店舖位置唔太方便,係西港城對面,但港鐵站行過去都要5-8分鐘。 店舖感覺舒服,落地玻璃,以白同橙為主色調,店主負責店舖大小事務,簡單英語已足夠溝通,好親民!最欣賞店主知道我地4個人會大家SHARE. .所以佢提議幫我地分開4份,店內唔主張用叉去進食,因為擔心破壞完整性,睇得出佢用心對待自己製成品,值得欣賞! $45一件唔算特別便,但現在出面有特色少少既甜品都要$40-$65一件, 所以都叫可接受,見到佢廚房都係用法國料.
