YEARS HK:🍽 Japanese Family Style Meal: miso soup, assorted delis, udon, dessert💸 HKD 88😸 Ok woah. When the tray was first brought out, I assumed it was a portion for two.I must say, for HKD 88, this is more than a generous serving size.🍲 The miso soup was not at all salty, which I appreciated a lot since I’m not a fan of salty foods. Despite this, it was not bland and was well seasoned.🍜The udon was incredibly filling and went well with the fried tofu. Once again, the soup base was not salty eit

🍣The salmon didn’t actually taste like fish at all, but maybe gave off a just subtle sea flavour? On the other hand, the texture was nearly accurate, not to mention the visuals! This wasn’t a disappointment though; my experience with mock vegan fish in Hong Kong has not too great, so my expectations weren’t too high 😅 The only realistic vegan fish I’ve had was in Germany - once in @feelseoulgood_berlin and the second time was when my COVID test was denied and I missed my flight to HK :’) so I had to spend a few days in Frankfurt eating airport supermarket food (which was amazing for some reason?? Germany has an overwhelming amount of vegan food!!)

Now, as for the taro dessert… there was a bit of confusion:

😸 We ordered ‘Taro Sweet Potato Balls’ as a SIDE DISH*, which also happened to be included in our Japanese set menu… but as the DESSERT*! I regret getting them, at the end of the meal, my stomach was on the verge of exploding… plus we essentially paid for extra taro balls that were already included in the set meal Flavour wise they were very similar to what I’ve tried in Paradise Veggie: a gummy/ paste like consistency that wasn’t too sweet (felt like it was naturally sweetened by the sweet potato) on the inside, and crispy yet not oily on the outside.

Return: I’d like to try other YEARS’ locations. I don’t enjoy eating European food in HK (or overall really, it’s a bit basic imo), and this restaurant has quite a lot of it - if I’m not mistaken, this was the only item that caught my eye in this locations’ menu! - but I’m still curious to see what the other locations have to offer
