We decided to have our weekly team lunch here after seeing quite attractive reviews and photos here on Openrice.
The 6 of us were presented with a set menu once we reached our table and it seemed that was the only menu we could order from. 6 choices were available and unfortunately I forgot to take a picture but the 6 options were to the best of my memory: Pizza, Seafood Risotto, Rib Eye, Pork shank, Prawn pasta and Barramundi. Our table opted for 3 Rib Eyes, 1 Pizza and 2 Pork Shanks. Each set included a soup + salad, dessert (Tiramisu) and coffee or tea with an option to add 15$ for a premium option.
Pizza: The pizza was similar to a Supreme option, a bit of everything. I noticed there was the typical pepperoni, peppers, ham, pineapple and maybe a few other things but it looked plentiful in toppings. The pizza itself was a thin crust, similar to the higher end pizza joints but it mentioned "thousand island sauce" which scarred me at first but i couldn't make out the taste when the dish was finally served. All in all it was a decent portion size, quite yummy and didn't feel overwhelming afterwards.
Rib Eye: My colleagues mentioned that the main selling point of this option was the "Cheese hash brown" and i was almost sold. The presentation was nice with the meat sitting on top of a pumpkin mash with a large, thick hash brown sitting on top, it almost resembled a burger for those who are trying to picture the dish. While the appearance was nice, and the meat was cooked to their liking; the mash was plain and the hashbrown was not as cheesy (if at all) as advertised. The unanimous verdict was that this dish was not "bad" but very average.
Pork shank: I didn't really get around to asking about this dish but the appearance was quite desirable and given how there was only bones left on the plate, that would lead me to guess that this was very yummy as well.
Dessert was a small piece of tiramisu cake, and it was a let down. Although it was essentially "free" and usually there are no expectations for complimentary desserts, the cake flirted with warm and cold, and the texture sat between soft and hard. It was very mediocre and dare i say worse than the pieces offered by the most average of buffets. Then again, this isn't a large part of the meal so it was overlooked for the most part.
Drinks: Having been our first time, we stuck to the usual hot/cold coffee and lemon water/tea but after we ordered and started sipping on them, we noticed more and more patrons were sitting with heated pots of tea in front of them. There may have been more options than we had expected so make sure you check/ask next time before ordering!
Pricing: the pricing i believe was fair. Located on the 25th floor of a sole tenant per floor building in Wan Chai, across from the Hopewell tower, it was modestly priced with 108$ being the cheapest option and 168$, the most expensive. The value was decent considering the comfortable environment, decent food and relatively nice service.
All in all, i would definitely recommend this restaurant to people in the area, I would not travel to eat here specifically but if i'm in the area, at work i would come here again.
