Went here to celebrate our anniversary. My husband and I are both busy and thought this is the nearest restaurant to go. They have an Aussie and NZ BBQ theme, which sounds quite appetizing, so we went.
I was quite surprised how crowded it is, even though it is a weekday night. We got a table near the staircase, which was quite a walk from the indoor buffet area and outdoor BBQ area. We were seated immediately.
The layout is not very ideal, as we had to walk too much. I felt we spent more time walking and waiting for food, than actually being seated.
The buffet costs 400++ after discount, can't remember the exact amount as husband paid. However, I was disappointed with the buffet, for the following reasons:
1. We only had one drink each, either a kiwi lemonade or a glass of wine. The wine was awful.
2. The BBQ part was awful, we had to wait a few minutes for each dish!
3. Not impressed with the BBQ selections for a NZ and Aussie themed buffet. They had wagyu beef burger, lamb chops, wafer thin ostrich steaks, fruits (pineapple and banana), where's the beef steak?
4. Dessert in the dessert section is horrible. Nothing in particular worth raving for.
5. No fresh oysters (there a quite a handful of restaurants with fresh oysters in their buffet at this price level). There were shrimps, crab legs, mussels, and I forgot the other one, but the presentation is not appetizing.
6. Sashimi were cut too thick. The soya sauce too sweet, and the wasabi's taste isn't good at all.
7. The hot foods didn't look appetizing.
8. They had a portobello mushroon with kangaroo meat gratin, which I only had a small spoon of. The lady told me I had to come back 15 mins for the next one. Well, I couldn't wait.
9. I do not mind waiting for food. But I do mind having to collect it later. Most restaurants would send the food to my table, not this restaurant.
The cheese platter and waffles are ok. Nothing spectacular.
had free flow of freshly brewed coffee, and tea. They seem to be understaffed, as they cannot clear the tables of used plates quick enough plus I always have to ask for water refill.
Australia and NZ had a lot of great food... Think caramel slice (they only had a lamington, hey, I can get that in McCafe), beef steaks only seasoned with salt and freshly ground pepper, pavlova, etc.
Disappointed. And for the amount we paid, definitely not worth it.
