談食物:
魚子沙律, 一廂情願以為魚子醬 (其實從價錢便知impossible), 原來是三文魚子, 也不錯. 本人極度抗拒沙律醬, 不過最後也吃下了一半, 其實還不錯.

芝士牛脷, 老闆教可以連盅上的麵包一起吃. 雖然包好像怪怪的, 但不要浪費食物嘛, 加上只是一少塊, 加點汁吃下也沒有太大問題. 牛脷非常稔. 不錯. 很似份量少, 慢慢吃, 等主菜來了, 就覺得有點多.

兔肉配意粉, 一大窩, 和男友都交換了眼色, 真的怕吃不掉. 慢慢的吃吃吃, 最後也吃掉.

雖然很飽, 最後也吃了個炸雪糕, 這個嘛, 個人就一般, 因為外層的飽, 太飽了.

大概是老闆幫忙拍照的關係, 整餐心情都很好.

下次要試鹿肉!

Me and my friend do NOT understand how they got 100+ good ratings because the experience and food was not good. Below reasons will sum it up:1. Booking not found - We made reservations and they couldn't find our booking. Fine...coz there was still tables available, not a big deal.2. Me and my friend do NOT understand how they got 100+ good ratings because the experience and food was not good. Below reasons will sum it up:

2. Lost waiter, bad wine - Not sure if he's just lost or stoned, but he seemed so confused. We asked for recommendation about ordering wine by the glass, he can't really answer and say I can order house wine. OK whatever, I ordered a house white. The wine came, it's not cold and it's not good.

3. Dumplings uncooked - We ordered these wonton-like dumplings, the skin is super thick but maybe that's just the way it is so it's OK, at least we tried something new. But we noticed some dumplings are not cooked well - the powder of uncooked dumpling wrapping is still there, that was how uncooked it was. After telling them they offered to exchange for something else for free....we decided to stay safe and ordered a cheese platter...and here comes #4...

4. Stir fry cheese platter - I have never seen a cheese platter this messy...it was cut up into small cubes, tossed with walnuts on top all over the plate. It looked messy and the cheese was cheap cheese for a 100 bucks.

5. Dried out Halibut - Tasteless and dry, even eating it with the sauce was still bad. The sauce didn't taste good at all either.

Needless to say, we did not finish all our food, we were not completely full...we left and went to Tsui Wah for more food. NOT coming back and do NOT recommend, even if they offer a group buying deal, save your quota for something better!

the two of us wanted to explore new restaurants in central and saw this one with very good rating so we decided to go on a Thu night.it turned out the worst experience I have ever had in central.we first ordered a mixed salad which was ok but very ordinary.main was grilled fish and mushroom dumplings.the fish was completely stiff and had no taste. what's worse is the Chinese looking mushroom dumpling was not even cooked.Very disappointed and we ended up going to Tsui Wah for the night.

這次是我第二次黎這餐廳,前年是第一次,和現在老公就是在這裡開始。兩年後故地重遊。 兩次都是我生日,十分有意思。情調很好,異國情懷也有家的感覺,有人情味,香港實在買少見少。老闆話這裡所有傢具都是從烏克蘭用2個月時間運來。老闆是香港人 ,兒子有幫手,幾靚仔,混血兒,可能媽媽是烏克蘭人。食品叫了蘋果鴨胸,雜菜,大蝦,三樣都好好味。老公飲beer, 我飲strawberry Kefir. 有d似冰沙,嚴浩介紹Kefir對健康很好的.之後老闆帶我們去冰室飲vodka. 真是入了雪櫃般,vodka 很smooth. 仲幫我們影相,影到好似去左冰川咁多謝送左一個簡單又難忘的生日,這種餐廳係中環貴得要命,但這裡價錢非常合理。

Our first and last visit to Ivan the Kozak was a terrible disappointment.The only saving graces were the reasonable prices and funky decor. Better foodcold be found in any Ukrainian home in the north end of Winnipeg. None of the four dishes we ordered in this restaurant could compare to the wonderful Ukrainian food found in Canadian Ukraininan homes. We visited Ivan the Kozak on a groupon and had an unusual meal.  To be honest, neither of us had a point of reference for Russian/Ukranian food, so it was an interesting, if not entirely pleasant experience.The groupon gave us a lot of options and we were able to try a lot of things.  First came out two soups.  We opted for the green borscht and the harcho.  We had never eaten GREEN borscht before, but it was nice enough.  A lot of good veggies in it, it seemed pretty healthy, although it wan't

We visited Ivan the Kozak on a groupon and had an unusual meal.  To be honest, neither of us had a point of reference for Russian/Ukranian food, so it was an interesting, if not entirely pleasant experience.

The groupon gave us a lot of options and we were able to try a lot of things.  

First came out two soups.  We opted for the green borscht and the harcho.  We had never eaten GREEN borscht before, but it was nice enough.  A lot of good veggies in it, it seemed pretty healthy, although it wan't hugely exciting on the palate.  The harcho, a georgian 'spicy' pork slice soup, was really good.  It had nice spice flavours, although its profile was hard to place.  It hinted at curry, but was unique.  

Although we got soup ahead of the appetizers, it was fine and soon the cold appetizers followed.  We had a red caviar blini first.  This was a little disappointing.  The blini was more like the kind of thin pancake the we Brits grew up with on Pancake Day each year.  It was kind of stodgy and hard to identify the contents.  It was basically just a bit fishy and not very good.  Next was a lukoshko, a Ukranian cheese-stuffed tomato.  It was fine, but the cheese had the consistency of a shop bought cheese dip for chips.  Not great.  Then we had a zimniy salad (or Salat Olivier).  This was more like what we had expected before we walked in the door; mayonnaise holding together peas, ham, potatoes and other veg.  It was inoffensive, but unspectacular.  Following this we ate Riba Pod Shuboy, a layered beet, fish, potato and mayonnaise dish.  Again, a little fishy, but otherwise just OK.  The star of the appetizers was the kopchenyy paltus, a home made smoked halibut.  It was really good.  It was a little like smoked salmon or gravadlax and had a good soft texture and a lovely smokey taste.  I would have eaten that on a blini with cream cheese and caviar all night.  Unfortunately, they only gave the fish and nothing else.

For our mains we chose govyadina po kozatski (stewed beef brisket) and Jarkoye Iz-baranini (lamb stew with kidney beans).  The beef was cooked well and fell apart, although it was nothing special.  It lacked strong seasoning and only worked texturally.  The lamb was beyond strange.  The lamb pieces themselves were soft and well cooked, but the taste of the beans and sauce was not pleasant.  It had a taste that was akin to fermented milk.  Being of Greek-Cypriot extraction, I could identify the flavour a little to trachanas, a sour milk and bulgar soup that I grew up with and love.  It did not taste good like trachanas, but had a hint of that sour milk flavour.  At first I thought that they used some dairy or that they had cooked it in a stomach (some cuisines utilize the stomach of an animal as the cooking vessel), but I have not found any reference to these in my research since eating it.  Russian recipes tend to use just lamb, spices, onion and carrot.  Baffling and not nice.

We finished with a blini with strawberries (same as the previous pancake, but with strawberry jam inside) and shtudel yabiochniy.  The blini was not so great and totally forgettable, but the shtrudel was good.  Described on the menu as a Ukranian apple pie, it was actually a lovely spiced apple cake.  It was the same as the kind of thing you get in a good German cafe.  The spices and apple went together well and ensured that the meal didn't end as a total disaster.

SO to sum up, we basically had three good dishes out of nine - a one third success rate.  The harcho, the smoked halibut and the apple cake were all good, we could have left the rest in the kitchen and walked out happy.

- 芝士焗牛脷:炆得好林,正,又切到細細粒方便食,汁撈side dish薯蓉非常美味,不愧為招牌。
- 烏克蘭土豆燒豬柳:用石鍋上,食到最後仍然熱出煙,我覺得幾好,土豆同佢d汁(湯?)都唔錯,係幾舊豬柳要玩俄羅斯輪盤咁一兩舊林,一兩舊un (我食個舊un, today is not my day)
甜品.. 2046再等到七百年後終於上
雪糕新地:無特別,保守之選
烏克蘭蘋果批:上面係海綿蛋糕加士多啤梨汁,下面係一兩片肉桂味蘋果。唔叫難食但你絕對唔會想再食。又 原來烏克蘭既蘋果批係咁樣的 @O@!!
最後埋單要比原價的加一服務費 每人40蚊
問心 佢地有咩服務 真係唔知 水又無 叫極舉極手又無人黎 餐飯坐左兩個鐘

團購見到$138六道菜好抵,又未試過喺香港食俄羅斯菜,好奇會係點既呢。成間餐廳暗暗地,加埋D裝修擺設,好有氣氛。友人話佢D櫈好特別,每一張椅背都有個心形既窿,唔講真係留意唔到,好得意。第一道係三文魚子醬,可以揀兩款appetizer(有幾款沙律,pork cold cuts同herrings),湯(辣肉片湯,魚湯,菜湯),之後有mains(最出名係牛脷,有兔肉,蘋果鴨胸,豬肉餅,牛肩,魚柳)同dessert(雪糕,士多啤梨薄餅,蘋果撻)。先上湯,我既辣肉片湯味道有點似羅宋湯,好多肉,普通。友人既魚湯話好有魚味唔錯,但菜湯麻麻,望落只係好清既水漫住D菜咁。三文魚子醬厚來只係一個卷,同沙律一齊上。食唔到魚子醬,似係塊crepe卷住沙律多D。我好似揀左Russian mixed salad,同港式茶餐廳既沙律冇乜分別。herrings唔錯 不過怕腥就未必啱啦。跟住就係main啦。鴨胸同平時食開個D有D唔同,嚡D但冇咁咸。唔怪得牛脷係招牌菜,真係幾好食,又炆得夠腍。牛肩用鐵鍋上,重滾熱辣。份量都幾多,配kidney beans好健康。味道還可以啦,有幾舊好腍幾好食,有D就又嚡又韌。少少羶但可以

成間餐廳暗暗地,加埋D裝修擺設,好有氣氛。友人話佢D櫈好特別,每一張椅背都有個心形既窿,唔講真係留意唔到,好得意。

第一道係三文魚子醬,可以揀兩款appetizer(有幾款沙律,pork cold cuts同herrings),湯(辣肉片湯,魚湯,菜湯),之後有mains(最出名係牛脷,有兔肉,蘋果鴨胸,豬肉餅,牛肩,魚柳)同dessert(雪糕,士多啤梨薄餅,蘋果撻)。

先上湯,我既辣肉片湯味道有點似羅宋湯,好多肉,普通。友人既魚湯話好有魚味唔錯,但菜湯麻麻,望落只係好清既水漫住D菜咁。

三文魚子醬厚來只係一個卷,同沙律一齊上。食唔到魚子醬,似係塊crepe卷住沙律多D。我好似揀左Russian mixed salad,同港式茶餐廳既沙律冇乜分別。herrings唔錯
 不過怕腥就未必啱啦。

跟住就係main啦。鴨胸同平時食開個D有D唔同,嚡D但冇咁咸。唔怪得牛脷係招牌菜,真係幾好食,又炆得夠腍。牛肩用鐵鍋上,重滾熱辣。份量都幾多,配kidney beans好健康。味道還可以啦,有幾舊好腍幾好食,有D就又嚡又韌。少少羶但可以接受。

士多啤梨薄餅就係crepe包住strawberry jam加朱古力醬。冇乜特別,又唔會話唔好食,但我天真地以為會有新鮮既士多啤梨。蘋果撻似係蛋糕中間有D蘋果,蛋糕好硬好乾身。

服務唔錯,有個叔叔係咁同人傾計,可能係老細。加埋周圍氣氛,好有家庭感覺。食物質素唔算差,但絕對普通。

男友的生日慶祝,我安排了這間情調不錯的東歐餐廳。上OPENRICE的評語說這間餐廳情調不錯,老闆好人,而且說這裡是正忠的俄菜,未試過俄菜的我便心思思想試,之後很方便的click入去tabletap訂位,準時6:30到達。因為這條街是斜路的關係,這餐廳的門口會低了數級,有點像地庫似的。門口有個閃閃的燈箱指著,很易找到。門口的擺設也不錯~ 我們說訂了檯的,但因為我有一個要求是2人平排坐,不要對著坐。他也因應了我的要求,安排了一張全場唯一可以平坐的2人檯,在角落裡,很適合情侶... 我們說訂了檯的,但因為我有一個要求是2人平排坐,不要對著坐。他也因應了我的要求,安排了一張全場唯一可以平坐的2人檯,在角落裡,很適合情侶... (雖然食起野上黎係有少少逼... ^^")。可能時間尚早,不是太多人,但餐廳的氣氛和情調不錯~ 而且很多大伙的外國人或俄國人(?)入來進食,氣氛有點似外國人多的清吧那樣,有點熱鬧~ 
 (這裡人多會熱鬧及嘈一點,但因為我坐在角落,感覺上自成一閣,也沒太有影響)

我們點了2樣飲品,俄羅斯什錦沙律做前菜,主菜點了個黑椒豬手同蘋果鴨,都是食評推介過的。最後點了個蛋糕作甜品,又可同男友吹蠟燭~
我們飲品點了個果味啤酒~ 我點了個熱情果,男友點了蜂蜜味~ 飲下去像有氣的熱情果汁,也有啤酒味~ 感覺良好~ 而蜂蜜味的就很淡口,蜜糖味很少,下次可以點另外的味道~

等了約10分鐘,沙律上碟。這個沙律配料很多: 蛋, 煙肉, 火腿, 生菜, 青瓜, 甘荀, 薯仔。有香草在上面,沙律醬完全覆蓋每一粒配料,好食。

之後就上蘋果鴨。他用一個盅形的器皿盛載,上碟時有個酥皮在上面,侍應會有一隻碟,翻開給你。蘋果鴨蘋果味不太濃,以為蘋果才是主味^^"。鴨也是鴨胸,以為是原隻鴨碎上。鴨胸就hai左少少,但個味幾香。內裡有6-7舊鴨胸,有薯仔粒同蘋果粒(但蘋果粒得3粒,薯仔有6-7粒),這度菜味道較淡口,而入面的鴨胸同配料是用橄欖油汁浸住,個酥皮可點汁來吃~ (如覺得太油可以點豬手汁來吃)

食物很好,環境很好。唯一係服務差少少。因為在角落,叫侍應有點難。而且有個外藉的女侍應問我們要不要埋單,好像想趕我們走咁~ 但這晚也是一個歡樂的晚上...
 

P.S. 老闆叫我取消Tabletap的預訂,其實我唔介意,但我唔知點取消,登入左無得按制,唔知係咪因為過左時間?

跟著是前菜,很多我都不記得名字的菜,最好的應該是三文魚子拼PANCAKE皮,裡面也有Salad,吃下去就不太膩,反正前菜開口最好。 。 。但是其他的就很一般,就算是三文魚。 。 。很Salty,沒有什麼鮮味,吃日式放題還好很多。

還有兩個甜點,Apple Pie 的Size 可以說是一個蛋糕,我可以說如果你可以完成所有的東西,你的肚子量度應該是非常大!雪糕是非常好吃,味道很像雪芭,吃完這個重口味的俄國菜,真的需要雪糕!

有d人食壽司食到既三文魚子都會有少少腥既感覺
但我單試個陣,都會覺得有d腥同太咸
但當我用薄餅加其他配料包埋一齊食個陣,真係太好味,完全無左陣腥味,反而有d鮮味出左黎
個薄餅平衡左魚子既咸味,所有野都剛剛好!

christmas自然想食火雞,結果order左燒春雞代替一下!燒春雞一般只要唔好燒到乾哂,d肉唔老就已經算合格。而呢個除左合格之外,佢食個陣仲有d肉汁係到,所以已經變得討好!!佢個醬係似燒汁,但比一般而言有d特別肉香味,所以整體比較討好

很久沒有到過 Ivan the Kozak。這裡位置隱蔽,要先穿入一條冷巷,反而感覺不在中環鬧市中。以前這裡的 set lunch 要過百,但現在價錢親民了許多,只需約 60 多元。套餐選擇很多,我點了魚柳飯。先上枱是羅宋湯,跟街外的羅宋湯非常不同,帶酸味,材料不會煮得爛爛的,非常完整。有點魚肉又有菜,好健康。餐具應是手繒的,好有美感。魚柳飯則令我好失望,用雪藏魚沒有很大問題,但可惜魚柳已凍。汁顏色好怪,看上去像坑渠水,有點倒胃,但食下去甜甜又不錯。薯蓉看上去像飯,賣相有趣,但可惜也是凍的,較難入口。飲品點了 Jasmine Tea,淡淡的茉莉花味,好香,甜好剛好適中。臨走前老闆特別帶我們入冰房,因剛開冷氣,不凍,但很具異國風情。

Reason for visit:Time flies, and it is time for Homie B to leave again, so us homies had an excuse to try another restaurant.  Decor/ Environment & Hygiene:Be prepared because there is a lot going on in this restaurant with all the different decorations and drawings, and colours. A bit random if you ask me, but at the same time, it gave the place a cozy feel that made one feel at home.    Those decorations were probably quite dusty, but everything else in the restaurant seemed clean and the way

Be prepared because there is a lot going on in this restaurant with all the different decorations and drawings, and colours. A bit random if you ask me, but at the same time, it gave the place a cozy feel that made one feel at home. 
  Those decorations were probably quite dusty, but everything else in the restaurant seemed clean and the way the staff handled things seemed okay too. Our table was right underneath this painting below, which we all came to love by the end of the night. Haha.

3 of us started with some drinks that we never had before. Homie B chose a banana beer that was very sweet but good! I chose a light beer from Lithuania and my other friend chose a Czech beer. Then, the 6 of us proceeded by each choosing a dish.

The 6 dishes that made it to our palates were:
My choice: Riba Pod Shuboy ($75)- This is a salad that is made of layers of beets, potaotes and fish, which I'm guessing is Herring. The beets had that nice fresh crunch to it, but the fish was overpowering, so I didn't really like this salad.

Homie J's choice: Ovoshnie Golubtsy ($138)- This is rice and vegetables wrapped in cabbage in a tomato sauce. This was a very good choice because of all the meat we ordered. My mom used to make this dish a lot when I was little, but she bathed it in a lot of tomato sauce, which made it very rich and heavy. That's why, when I had this, I was surprised how light,sweet and refreshing it was! It was a nice dish.

Homie Bi 's choice: Plov Po Uzbekski ($138)- This is a beef+ lamb rice pilaf. This dish was quite mild and the meat in the rice was a bit dry, but whatever veggies they used in it made the rice very sweet in a natural way. I think this dish would have tasted better if it was served hotter because it was kinda cold. If it was hotter, the flavours would have been more protruding I think.

Homie Ling's choice: Zakuska Po- Suzdalsky ($78)- This is ox tongue baked in a white wine cheese sauce. First of all, this was my first time eating ox tongue, so I really didn't know what to expect. The tongue was cut in cubes and the pastry on top was very hard and looked as if it was still a bit raw in the centre. I was so focused on the tongue that I neglected the sauce because all I can say about the sauce is that it looked thin, and wasn't too cheesy. The texture of the tongue was springy and to my surprise it didn't have that "organ" taste. It wasn't as disgusting as I thought, I even want to say that it was a good dish, but since I'm a first time tongue eater, take this with a grain of salt.

Homie B's choice: Kroll Zabava ($178)- Baked Rabbit! Another first for me. 
 I struggled to try this because all I could think of were all the rabbits I used to see hopping around on campus. However, I'm glad I tried it!
I think this dish had the best sauce of all six. Also, it was true that it tasted like chicken! Ha! But with a hint of a wild taste if you know what I mean. This dish had spaghetti in the pot with it, which soaked up a lot of the sauce. As this dish sat, you could see how oily it was.

Chicken Kiev ($158) + Mashed Potatoes ($22)- This dish is a chicken breast deep fried in the shape of a ball. It was an interesting dish to look at. 
 The outside was nice and crunchy, but the chicken inside was on the dry side; it was not tender nor juicy. I have to say though , it was nice having a familair taste after having the ox tongue and rabbit. As for the mashed potatoes, it was different from Western mashed potatoes that are quite dense. They were rice looking and were very light and fluffy! Not bad!

After all these savory bites, it was time for dessert! Woo hoo~
 The 6 of us agreed on the following three.

1. Bananchik ($46)- These banana fritters were soo good. An order came with 6 pieces so we each got one. The bananas were mushy, but the dough outside held it together. I liked that these fritters weren't greasy at all and were very yummy.

2. Russian Blini ($48)- This dish was served cold. It had two pancakes with some apple threads inside. The apples were crunchy, but maybe because they weren't stewed, we all felt that something was lacking. Also, the sauce it had really didn't do much for the dish besides adding some sweetness. It wasn't that bad, but all of us liked the other 2 a lot more.

3. Morojennoye Po - Kievski ($60)- Ukranian deep- fried ice cream BALLS!
 Like the first dessert, these deep fried balls were not greasy at all. I was expecting something like deep fired Japanese ice cream, but becase of the differences in batters, these were nothing like the Japanese ones. Although both the shell and ice cream were kinda hard, I really liked the crunch that the batter gave the ice cream, so I liked it !

Service:
The staff were friendly and helpful. The best part was that we were shown to THE ICE BOX, 
 where the owner took some interesting pictures for us. If you go to their facebook page, you will know what I'm talking about. 

Final Verdict:
I had a lot of first tries at this restaurant. The food was interesting, but not quite my taste. The company of friends and the friendliness of the owner made our experience a pleasant one.

WOW,是俄國菜團購!自從出色既Balalaika結業後,已經好耐沒食過啦...一入到去就見到個青靚白淨既外國靚仔,應該係MIX來的吧,因為佢操流利廣東話,搞到我一時唔知講英文定廣東話好@@而我最喜歡既就係自以為風趣既老闆,等前菜既30分鐘想問佢拎杯水,佢問乜野水,我就話普通tap water得啦,佢仲強調總之即係唔使錢果種啦!係gf面前,小弟當堂自慚形穢,冇計, 小弟家貧, 比左4舊水食個2人套餐之後,小弟已經再冇錢叫要錢既水啦(途中更多老闆爛gag不能盡錄, 請見諒)經過漫長既餐前等待後,終於見到第一道菜了相信這綠色羅宋湯+格魯吉亞辣肉片湯一定係即叫即蒸,如果唔係點會咁耐呢?綠色羅宋湯D酸菜同個湯簡直合而為一,個湯酸到冇朋友而辣肉片湯辣辣地,加埋D柴皮瘦肉,完全就係一碗出色既茶餐廳辣湯~三文魚子係平時食壽司果種,用PANCAKE皮包住,加上一堆CREAM,味道都OK其餘的沙律都唔錯,好CREAMY,仲好飽肚添左:招牌芝士焗牛脷, 咦喂,芝士呢?嗯, 一定係溶左係個醬度,所以個醬先會咁咸,加埋D急凍既正方型牛脷粒,WOW, 呢個咪CC茶餐廳既招牌牛脷飯?!雖則我覺得CC茶餐廳比較好味

相信這綠色羅宋湯+格魯吉亞辣肉片湯一定係即叫即蒸,
如果唔係點會咁耐呢?

個湯酸到冇朋友

而辣肉片湯辣辣地,
加埋D柴皮瘦肉,
完全就係一碗出色既茶餐廳辣湯~

很愛意粉的我,
看到上抬既意粉條咁肥大,
覺得案情並不單純,
這不是CC茶餐廳既意粉版本?
為左慳成本浸到佢肥一肥
人家還是喜歡意式正宗既半硬身麵條


今次我知啦!
一定係意大利同俄國唔咬弦,
所以俄國菜特登整稔佢,
一定係

牛腩則一D都唔辣,
淨係覺得好淡, 好水
好似冇醬汁咁
我相信店家為免食客食唔到咁辣,
所以乾脆整到咁淡,
丁屎辣都冇,哇好健康呀!

題外話/補充資料: 仲有個小插曲係, 我同個waiter講個雪糕黎錯左, 應該係士多啤梨薄餅先岩, 佢指住個蘋果批話係"士多啤梨"黎 咦喂,睇黎我今日真係太累, 居然信左, 好在gf醒, 糾正左佢, 唔係真係食左先知戇居左 食完唔知係咪食太多難消化野, 回家途中係咁放屁, 同此店老闆個口一樣, 失禮晒
