It's always to good to have Indian food, especially I haven't had it for quite a long time. Therefore, my friend and I decided to try Basmati. It only took us few mins walking from Sheung Wan MTR station to Basmati. How convenient it was! Another big plus about Basmati was their sign. I believe Basmati is an Indian family style resturant because of their interior design and decorations. You easily find Indian pictures on the wall. It not only characterised Basmati as an Indian restaurant, but also made the restaurant more interesting to the diners who are from different backgrounds. Apart from that, it was also a cozy and spacious restaurant.

Not long after we sat down, their staff instantly served us their complimentary appetizers
. The appetizers were papadum and vegetarian spring rolls accompanied with mint sauce and tamarind sauce. As the complimentary appetizers were free, so I didn't expect much from it. Surprisingly, the spring rolls were very hot. It looked like it just came out from the frying pan. Both the sauces matched the appetizers very well

Mushroom Soup

I found the mushroom soup very different from the mushroom soup we usually have from the western restaurants. It looked creamy, but it wasn't creamy or heavy at all. It was quite refreshing actually. It tasted like a soup made with dal (lentils) and mushroom with a hint of coriander taste to it. Interesting!
Vegetable Salad

They used sliced tomatoes, onions, carrots, lettuces and cucumbers seasoned with salt, pepper and salad oil to make this salad. All of the ingredients were very fresh
. It wasn't a fancy salad, but I found it light and can be a good salad before loading up with heavy dishes.

I couldn't find samosa chaat on the menu, but the boss was kind enough to make one for us. Samosa chaat was basically an Indian street food. They quartered the samosa and put diced tomatoes and red onions on top of the samosa with mint sauce, tamarind sauce and yogurt drizzled on top. Then, they sprinkled chaat spice on top of the samosa. The samosa chaat they made was really delicious
. The samosa itself was hot and crispy. It had a rich potato taste which I adored. The amount of spices and sauces they put was neither too much nor too less . It was perfect enough to enhance the taste of samosa. The entire dish was absolutely flavourful!!!

Since mango lassi is always one of my favourite drinks, I couldn't resist the temptation to order one for myself. I was so glad that it didn't disappoint me. The consistency was thick, but it wasn't way too thick to make you feel uncomfortable. It was creamy and had a strong mango taste in it. The more I drank, the more I liked it
. Honestly, it was one of the best mango lassi I've ever had.

I was so surprised to find out the chicken they used to make butter chicken was tandoori chicken. Using tandoori chicken to make the butter chicken was right up my alley as I'm always a big fan of tandoori chicken. How cool it was to have two dishes in one dish without the need to order tandoori chicken separately
! The chicken was so tender and it tasted like the chicken it just came out from the clay oven. The gravy was absolutely fantastic
. It was sweet with a hint of spiciness and went very well the naan. Although the gravy was creamy, it wasn't too heavy to stop you from having other dishes

They cut one naan into 3 pieces. I just had one piece and already felt so full. I found their naan was much more filling than the naan I had from other restaurants. Their naan wasn't bad, but it was a bit chewy
. I think they can make it a bit crispier at the bottom and softer on the inside.

My friend was pretty sick that night and their boss recommended him to have masala tea. He actually really liked it and felt a bit better after having the tea
. The proportion of the tea and the milk was perfect enough to make it soothing and smooth for one to drink. The spices of the tea made it very aromatic and helped stimulate blood circulation. It was a great drink to end the night.

It was good to see their beautiful spice box they provided to freshen our breathe, but we didn't try it at all.

Final thoughts

Overall, it was a great dining experience
. Their staff and boss were incredibly friendly and polite
. They always had a nice smile on their faces and refilled the water for us frequently. Their boss asked whether we satisfied with the dishes we ordered from time to time. He also took his time out to talk to us
. Need not to mention again, their restaurant was spacious and clean. Their food was decent and more than I expected. I'll definitely come back to try other dishes next time.

前菜到勒~係胡椒餅同炸雜菜,連2個傳統印度醬料,我之前係重慶大廈嘅新馬德里餐廳食,胡椒餅多數都係㘣形一塊,不過呢度特別在整成一個雪糕筒形狀,烤成黃金色,表面滲著黑胡椒,咬下去非常香脆,溫度又夠熱,胡椒香撲鼻,可惜只能有2個,好味㓚我覺得我自己可以食到6個!!!! 點紅色和綠色醬有不同風味,紅色好似泰式酸甜醬,綠色就甜甜地~

炸雜菜嘅雜菜有茄子、秋葵,雖然炸得有點燶,但原來這兩種食材結合後,味道既有茄子的口感,又有秋葵那特式的味道~

這客香草雞是廚師特地從廚房拿出來的,非常隆重咁,佢仲為我地榨檸檬汁灑係雞上面~ 呢幾件雞件,放左係個鐵板上面啲香莫同洋蔥煮,除左有鮮檸檬味外,更聞到陣陣香料味道。

我特別把烤餅夾著這客咖喱牛腩~ 成日聽人講話印度人的咖哩重香草味,原來是真的~這客咖喱牛腩的咖喱不是我們香港常見那種黃澄澄的,反而是有點近泥黃色,吃後香草和辣味也能出到。牛腩也很JUICY~ 而且切到好似一粒粒安格斯牛柳粒咁,非常容易入口。

呢碟蒜蓉炒雜菜單係賣相,我真係唔多見到啲蒜蓉係邊,唔講我仲以為係鼓油炒嘅!不過真係好好食,每一塊都大小相同,而且好香好入味,我好似好耐無食過椰菜咁,食哂成盤!因為真係好好食呀!

侍應看我們都食得七七八八,最後她捧左呢盤野出嚟,老實講,望住七彩的香料同貌似茶葉嘅野,我又真係唔好意思問係乜野嚟,my boy二話不說拎左粒朱古力,我仲好遲疑咁研究。最後,店員解釋呢啲係俾一啲傳統印度人叫甜品嘅時候落嘅troppings,套餐無甜品,所以叫我拎粒朱古力就可以了。哈哈~ 真係超級樣衰啊~

總結:可能是因為客人少,餐廳每一位員工都好像很珍惜我們的到來,我記得自己打嚟book位嗰時,其實係miss左call,但店員還是憑來電再打來,我那刻感到,店方真的很珍惜食客。不知道是不是香港人越來越高檔,這家印度食肆卻讓我整餐也吃得輕鬆愉快。 這個愉快的OT晚上只是二百多元便有這樣多東西吃,上菜速度和食物味道也很快和很好,餐廳人不多,環境也好~老實說,我之後還會再來惠顧,這裡的炒椰菜太好吃了!

A few days ago my new frd and I went to a Nepal restaurant we had a Nepalnese beer, so this time I am hoping for sth special Indian beverage. No fancy alcoholic drink so we both went for Lassi. This mango Lassi is relatively average. It's not the best that I have had. It quite milky and less of a real mango flavour. I expect it blend in some fresh mango so that it has a good eggy yellow color but this mango Lassi they have looks quite pale in terms of color.

 Compare to the complimentary snack, this one tast fresher =) I like it myself while my new frd is alright for it coz he really hates corriender. That wasn't anyone's fault except himself being a little bit picky haha!

This onion bhajee is rather disappointing. It has nth look like what I expect it to be. perhaps the chinese translation wasnt quite right. In Chinese, it gave me an impression that the onion is in a ring shape! This onion finger is obviously not very appetizing color and shape. And it just taste....hmmm...meh...the batter is a bit thick really =( not a good one all in all.

I have never ordered veggo curry but my frd wanted sth light and less meaty so we have picked an egg plant curry. I do not hate this one but it is still very average. Again, if you go for the look first then this ain't the best. Everything is mashed and it's like baby food.

I am a big fan of Ox tongue so all my hope cast on this dish in particular. And this is another dish which I have so much confusion about because I totally do not understand why I get bones with my Ox tongue. I have NEVER EVERRRRRR had an Ox tongue that comes with a massive piece of bones on every other pieces of meats. The only explanation is that it's actually Ox tail but not Ox tongue. I have no idea what went wrong but it just doesnt look like or taste like the Ox tongue I know of. It's flavoursome but its not what I wanted =(

I just have to be honest here. This meal did fill up my tummy but it's not somewhere I fancy coming back again! It's of good value but it's not of my liking.

Papadom:附送的小食Papadom。小弟最喜歡是其比薯片更脆的口感與辛辣的黑椒味道。這裡的Papadom呈圓錐形再配上應該是薯仔混合少量肉類的肉丸,加上酸甜的Mango Chutney和清新的Yogurt Mint Sauce,味道豐富之多可謂滿足多重慾望。

Tandoori Chicken:小弟最愛印度菜之一。Tandoori是印度一種煮食方法,大概是用由陶泥磚砌成的窯,配合高溫燃燒時所產生的遠紅外線烤熟食物,所以比一般的烹調方法更能保持鮮味。
這裡的Tandoori Chicken有四塊,兩塊雞胸和兩件雞槌,上桌時鐵板仍滋滋作響,稍嫌調味不足,醬料味道較淡,但相對地雞肉的鮮味突出且鮮嫩,因此扳回不少分數。

Garlic Naan:小弟比較喜歡蒜味重的Naan,這款蒜味稍為少一點,如再烤得脆一點更佳,但本身已經不俗,因配合咖哩吃時盡吸咖哩汁醬,超惹味。

Butter Chicken:看名字是有點fake人,Butter Chicken不是用牛油煮的。我好奇一問印度人店員,他說正宗Butter Chicken不會用牛油,而是用鮮茄加茄膏再加上印度咖哩醬和香料煮成,因此比較健康和不膩。當然,可以叫廚房煮用牛油的,但就不是正宗了。
這個Butter Chicken的雞肉肉質味道與Tandoori Chicken的相近,而咖哩則屬酸度較高,吃到很鮮的蕃茄味和鮮茄茸,混和忌廉後很香很滑,用Naan蘸著吃簡直是Perfect

Masala Tea:小弟喜歡印度香料的爆發力,就是很強烈衝擊腦袋的感覺。Masala Tea以香料及印度紅茶加奶沖泡,一整壺上實在很滿足。香料味道飄香而出,茶香奶滑,不加糖就有點甘甜,加糖也不賴,個人建議趁熱飲最好。

吃罷這頓印度餐,印度人店員過來詢問意見,跟我們攀談了一會。
我留意到Menu上沒有甜品選擇,他說因來店的華人(香港、中國等)都覺得甜品極甜,所以很少點甜品,因此便不會主動提供,當然有需要也會提供,但他認為Masala Tea也能充當飯後甜點的角色。
(的確印度和中東的甜品都是甜得掉牙。)
埋單時店員說他們有提供Lunch Buffet,有印度菜式、蔬菜和飲品任食任飲都只是$88元加一,十分抵呢!有機會一定要試,因為小弟太喜歡印度菜了!Stella也表示印度菜不俗,可以再試,因此這次體驗之旅十分成功,Basmati果然不俗,值得encore。

Basmati is located in the heart of Sheung Wan, Connaught Road. A catchy neon sign indicated the entry. 'A taste of India', we hoped the food could bring us gustatory delights.

Indian restaurant usually presents complimentary appetisers. Same here, we got Papadum & Onion Bhajee accompanied with two sauces: mint chutney and tamarind one. The papadum is crispy but not oily with faint taste of pepper. Love the sauces particularly. The mint chutney I had in other Indian restaurants were often too one-sidedly emphasised on the minty flavour. But I found this the balance quite right. For the red sauce made with tamarind, it was slightly sweetened, a bit like the sweet and sour paste we use in Chinese dish. Both sauces go well with the papadum and bhajee.

Mango Lassi has always been the signature drink in any Indian restaurants. Yet it is difficult to master the skill of making a good one. This Mango Lassi ($36) is thick enough. Even the ice melted later on, we did not find it too watery, still retained the sweetness of mango and creaminess of yogurt.

Young Coconut ($42): refreshing and a healthier option if you want drinks low in sugar. However, I don't suggest getting this in a fine restaurant because it is always a lot more expensive than those you can get in fruit markets while tasting equally good.

Saag Paneer ($78) spinach with cottage cheese.
The spiciness of this is not too overwhelming. I believe this is still acceptable to most Hong Kong people. This is so different from Chinese style of cooking spinach that it is more like a spinach puree. Thick in texture and the flavours were completely blended in. Sometimes, Paneer with spinach is made with full fat cream or cheese. The choice of cottage cheese used here is a healthy alternative.

Nan, again, another must-order Indian dish. They never goes wrong with curry. Basmati offers cheese, green onion, plain and garlic nan. We chose the Garlic Nan ($24). Nan, in my previous experience, has always been made too oily. To my surprise, the Nan here was not. Yet, the garlic taste was not strong enough.

Cucumber Paita ($36) It is under the category of salad therefore we were not surprised to find it to be a cold dish. Taste of cucumber dominated, combined with yogurt, a very refreshing appetiser to have. The pinch of spice and mint leafs added complication in flavours, which succeed in transforming it to a less dull one.

Lamb Masala ($92)
It was well-presented in a small pot. Lamb was cooked perfectly. It was again not too spicy. The curry was divine. We licked our plates clean with the help of Nan bread. I must say, this was the best dish of the night.

While Chunking Mansion provides equally good Indian cuisines, I personally prefer here for their service. Water was provided in the midway. Waiters making sure if everything was okay from time to time. They even asked us for feedbacks to their food! Lastly, a spice box was provided to freshen your breathe.

有朋友曾介紹印度皇的自助午餐給我, 又多選擇, 食物質素又幾好, 但由於只是星期一至五供應, 要返工又怎能前住一試, 那便試試它的晩餐吧! 印度皇這個名字是否代表它的食物有皇者的級數呢? 滿有期待…… 在餐館的樓下已放了一張寫着“正宗印度咖喱”的傳宣牌, 正宗! 太好了, 真的想一試何謂正宗的印度咖喱。
店名的招牌以紅色光管及綠色光管製成, 高高掛在上樓梯處的右邊, 而正中央亦掛了一塊以白色底配鮮紅色的店名字招牌, 兩者相當搶眼, 路經的途人很容易看到。上樓梯處掛了數幅印度香料的相片, 而未踏入餐館已有一本深啡色的菜簿, 正擔心只印有英文的印度菜名, 會看不懂而在老爸面前出醜, 幸好一翻開便看到除了中英對照外, 還有色彩繽紛的相片相配, 非常清晰。

走進餐館內, 地方寬敞, 燈光有點昏暗, 頗有情調。內裏以啡色和泥黃色為主, 有5-6張十人座位、有6-7張兩人位及一排四人沙發配椅子位, 位與位之間有一定距離, 讓食客坐得舒適。內裏設計簡單平實, 只是牆上掛了數幅色彩繽紛的油畫, 而最吸引我的是一盞盞帶有懷舊色彩的吊扇。

餸菜還未到之前, 店員除了送上清水外, 還送了一客炸雜菜胡椒餅 (附送)作為餐前小食。雪糕筒形的胡椒餅真的弱不禁風, 稍稍用力一拿便碎開, 它弄得極之脆身, 咬下去時卜卜聲, 帶點香辣的胡椒味, 入口並沒有半點油膩感, 美味! 胡椒餅內放了一件炸以焦黃的雜菜餅, 內裏混入不同的蔬菜, 有洋蔥絲、甘荀絲、椰菜絲等等, 炸得相當脆口, 可惜蔬菜吸收了不少油份, 吃時可蘸上綠色的印度薄荷醬或紅色帶微辣的酸梅醬, 味道同樣不錯!

先聽到吱吱聲, 原來是以鐵板盛載着的串燒雞柳 Chicken Tikka, 本以為是一條條串燒, 但結果是件件肉厚的雞柳。橙紅色的雞柳四周邊位燒至有點焦黑, 肉質並不嫩滑, 而且有點乾硬, 口感馬馬。它顏色雖是橙紅色, 但一點都不辣, 味道反而有點清淡, 要唧些檸檬汁才有助提味, 這理應很適合怕太辣的老爸吃, 但他只嚐了一件, 為何? 原來嫌它燒太燶不健康, 真的估不到他那麼注重飲食健康! 有時真的要大家抽空相聚在細節上才可了解對方更多……

接著是老爸最喜愛的羊肉出場, 一道橙啡的印式燴羊肉Lamb Rogan Josh本以為辣度十足, 幸好是他可接受的程度。滿滿杰身的咖喱醬汁把所有的羊肉件遮蓋着, 內裏羊肉的數量不少, 大約六至七件, 件件體積中等。羊肉相當入味, 充滿咖喱香, 挺惹味, 而肉質亦很腍嫩, 部份還帶有軟筋, 相當不錯, 難怪老爸吃了五件才收手。至於這碗香濃的咖喱汁當然不會浪費, 用來拌印度薄餅或撈印度炒飯同樣美味!

吃過兩款肉類便來一碟蔬菜平衡一下, 別以為這道薯仔椰菜花Aloo Gobi Masala相賣和菜名都毫無殺傷力就可輕視, 它反而辣得令老爸搶喉數次。淡黃色的咖喱汁質地並不杰身, 而是略稀, 雖沒有緊緊黏在薯仔和椰菜花上, 但兩者都相當入味, 故才辣得令老爸搶喉。薯仔件弄得粉綿入味, 而椰菜花亦煮得剛好, 半腍半硬之間, 易於入口, 內裏加入一些特別的印度香料作調味, 故除了辣味外, 還有一種獨特的味道, 但未必人人喜歡。老爸吃了第一次已被搶喉至咳, 第二次如事, 他還不心息, 還要再吃第三次, 結果咳過不停, 固執的他就是如此!

吃印度菜當然不少得我最愛的印度烤餅, 一客一大件的薑蔥烤餅Spring Onion Nan分成兩件, 要再撕開才較容易進食, 撕開時感覺其有點拉勁, 烤得乾身, 手指沒有沾上一點油份。稍稍脹泡泡帶焦燶的烤餅面層舖了不少翠綠色的蔥花, 滿有香蔥味和麵粉味, 但可惜一點薑味也沒有, 令我相當失望, 不過它的口感煙韌, 很有嚼勁, 用它蘸上咖喱和夾着羊肉同吃, 別有一番風味, 挺不錯! 老爸看我用刀叉進食, 不時跟我說印度人是用手食, 他便豪邁一點將夾着羊肉的烤薄一手放入口中, 表現得很滋味! 但可惜吃了一件後, 他便停手, 可能始終烤餅不太合他口味, 希望米飯會較好一點!

因擔心老爸吃不慣烤餅, 故加多一道印度炒飯 Pullau Rice ($33), 加上之前曾在另一間印度餐館吃過一道檸檬印度炒飯, 令我念念不忘, 故也想試試這裏的味道又如何。粒粒印度米飯分明, 但不算炒得乾身, 帶有油光, 內裏加入不少香料烹調, 清楚看到不同顏色的香料粒, 味道獨特, 拌上咖喱醬汁會較容易接受, 而口感則略為偏硬, 一向吃開黏性中國米飯的老爸當然不太喜好, 又是看他吃了兩匙羹便停手, 結果餘下了不少……

臨來時店員送上一盤糖果給我們, 老爸問我為何有糖吃, 像小孩般愛問的樣子, 挺有趣! 看他今餐吃得不多, 一邊吃一邊面有難色就知印度菜不合他口味, 我還很衰嘲笑他, 問他是否選擇錯誤, 他死口不認, 堅持說試下都好, 還說以前吃過的印度菜不是這樣, 是會看到有人在抛擲烤餅, 哈哈! 原來在他心目中印度菜是這樣……

其實要他山長水遠出來吃了一頓不滿足的晚餐, 我總覺得有點過意不去, 在我心目中你才是我的皇, 皇帝! 等我繼續尋覓一些既有特色又合你心水的美食給你吧!

時常食buffet都會見到黃色同橙色一粒粒飯, 其實我從來未試過, 所以也點了地道的印度皇飯 Pullau Rice $33。飯好乾身, 一條條分明, 我估應該是方便印度人用手拎來食, 不過香港人較喜歡用汁撈飯, 我也將咖哩汁撈印度皇飯食。

The restaurant occupies the whole floor with a decent, spacious and tiny environment. There is one small bar and I also found some karaok equipment at the corner, guessing they will hold Indian performance sometimes.

To start with some drinks, I chose Mango Lassi ($36) which disappointed me for its weak mango taste and thin liquid. My second drink, Young Coconut ($42), was much better.

Our first appetizer was quite heavy with a bit more oil in deep-fried way, but every one loved it for the low density of fried flour which was soft and crispy during a bite.

The special Indian yogurt was exactly the same taste as before, sourness from natural yogurt mixed with special Indian herbs and some garlic, very exotic and quite heavy actually, even similar to some taste of lighter cheeses but freshened by chopped cucumber, it was a must-try Indian appetizer.

Garlic Nan ($25) & Green Onion Nan ($28) & Cheese Nan ($34)

Nan and Poori was so delicious that we could even finish one basket without any curry dishes or sauces. Among those, I love Cheese Nan the most, for its extra-thickness with a clear cheese layer inside, making the overall taste cheesier and chewier. Poori, was salty itself and quite fluffy and soft.

The North Indian dish named by the traditional clay oven/pot, Tandoor. Tandoori Chicken was totally in red and served in large piece. Marinated chicken was roasted with spices to be tender and moisture meanwhile quite meaty. Tandoori Fish, had a super soft fish meat under the crispy and flavorsome fish skin.

In Indian Cuisine, vegetables and beans are largely used for the curry dishes. Chana Masala ($72) was made with chickpeas and cook it till just start to self-melt into the curry sauce, it made the curry creamier, thicker and I enjoyed the softness of chickpeas a lot. Baigan Bharta ($72), has the mashed eggplant mixed into the sauce, giving a warm taste.

As my first experience of their sister restaurant, the cute pot of Lamb Masala was still tasty and mouth-melting. The new dish I tried that night was, Ox Tongue Masala, tasted similar with Masala but I would strongly recommend this dish. Quite good quality of Ox tongue performed tenderness and chewiness.

That night we were specially served with some off-the-menu desserts which covered the traditional and popular sweets in India. We had Indian ice cream, candy and rice ball similar to my last Indian dessert experience in Jashan (Read more about Jashan) and other sweets. Of course, they contained a high potion of sugar and cream, but it didn't make me feel any uncomfortable.

Family Dinner @ Basmati!   Environment & Hygiene:It was quite quiet for a Friday night, and since the restaurant was very big and spacious, it seemed dead inside, which is a shame because the food is good. The service was genuine, but there was some miscommunication between us and the server. We inquired about the Sangria, and the server mistakenly thought that we wanted to order it and brought it to us, so we had no choice but to have it.

The Garlic Naan ($25) and Cheese Naan ($34) were too dry and not fluffy enough. They also lacked in flavors. I think Aladdin's Mess still has the best naan so far.

Paneer Butter Masala ($88) - this dish is one of my favorite Indian food and it was well executed here. I love the soft texture of the Indian cottage cheese while the masala was buttery and creamy with a hint of spiciness. Perfect for dipping the naans in to eat.

Lamb Vindaloo ($92) - we were warned that this will be spicy but since we like spicy food, we were not deterred! The lamb was tender with chewy parts and the curry was really spicy but flavorful as the same time. Very enjoyable to eat.

I had a discount voucher for this place so boyfriend and I decided to give it a try for dinner. The place is located in Sheung Wan, near the Macau ferry terminal so not a street that is very popular. Perhaps that's why it was very quiet on a Saturday night? There were only a few tables filled. The place is also very large and spacious. The menu had various dishes, some we had not seen before. There were photos for most of them. Good for those not too familiar with Indian. We decided on an onion naan and tandoori chicken. But wasn't sure on what else to choose. So, we asked for a recommendation and was suggested an ox tail kabai. This was something we had never heard of in an Indian restaurant so we decided to go try it. We also added a dal makhani as we were curious about that as well.

As we waited for our food, we ordered two mango lassi. I have to say ... this was really good mango lassi. Nice and thick. Lots of mango flavor with a touch of tartness from the yogurt.

They gave us complimentary papadums and samosas. The samosa was pretty good with a nice hint of curry. Nice and hot as well. The papadums tasted stale. They were actually chewy as if they had been sitting around for some time.

The tandoori chicken was much like the place in Yau Ma Tei in that it was actually chicken thighs sizzling on a cast iron hot plate. It wasn't very spicy which was good for me. But the meat was a bit dry.

Dal makhani is something we decided to try as we never did before. It's a basically a vegetarian dish made of black lentils and kidney beans. It was actually pretty good. Nice and rich. It had the same texture as humus.

Oxtail kadai is something the staff suggested to us and we had never had any sort of beef dish in an Indian restaurant before so was curious. The oxtail was braised for a long time so it fell off the bone. Sauce was creamy and rich with a bit of spice.

The food was pretty spicy by the end. And they gave us a platter of interesting sweets when we waited for the bill. It was interesting as after I had the sweets, the burning spicy sensation from the food disappeared. Is there some sort of balance between sweet and spicy and that neutralizes it? I'm unsure but it seemed to work.
