after a meal at @ kobekyu a while ago, it's time to hunt down some similar japanese steak bars to rank rank and compare compare them XD.
this steak bar is located rather low-key. the storefront doesn't engage a lot, nor do the interior. but the quality of food certainly excels the price and compensates all. with the buy 1 get 1 50% off offer for the deep fried cutlet, it makes the deal so much more affordable and worth it.
the flat iron steak and fried cutlets are indeed very juicy and tender that just go perfectly with mildly sweet japanese rice. the quantity and quality are both comparable to that from @ kobekyu's. on the day we visited, free fries are also offered to us whenever ordered a set, and they weren't mediocre at all - on a level with potato corner's freshly made, pipping hot and dredged with seaweed-flavoured powder fries!
in general, @steakbarhk is the easy go-to restaurant for cheap japanese steaks. their foods are up-to-standard, as good as kobekyu's but the decorations are undoubtedly unappealing. besides, there was only 1 staff working at that time, so it wasn't efficient enough.
to compare kobekyu and steak bar, they both have similar quality of the beef cutlet, but kobekyu provides a more secure dining environment. i'd recommend kobekyu as you can even try their renowned cream curry beef udon.
8.8/10 (mom likes the meal very much as it's affordable with good quality food, and it's quite a light meal for 3!)
