I think this was the best “cafe meal” I had in a while. Forget those avocado toast, all day breakfast, truffle scrambled eggs… (I always felt cheated in cafes which are mostly for IG check-ins now).Good job, chef(s)! - Hamachi and scallop tartare udon with passion fruit honey vinaigrette, served cold. This dish was much smaller (palm size) than expected but fresh and appetizing. Could have fluffed it up with some vegetable side dishes. Still, it was a good Summer dish.
Then cookie and coffee, of course.
Superb service. The staff were attentive and the barista was chatty and humorous. Everyone was cheerful even though it was peak hours (full house & long line). I liked how they gave me a heads up that the kitchen was quite busy so food would take longer than usual.
I first tried Ninetys in Wanchai when it opened but the food wasn’t that great (felt like they just put together the Western and Asian ingredients which overpowered each other. NOW I’m impressed!
