ZUMA是中環區頗有名氣的日本餐廳。有名氣,可能是因為店裡裝修環境較有特色吧。到這裡來一杯Pre-dinner Drink是個不錯的選擇,這裡的Cocktail很出色。(可惜我忘記了拍照!)但食物水平就...食材新鮮,可是烹調水準不高。龍蝦肉鮮,但食味偏淡。日式料理來說,ZUMA的食物賣相實在太"求其",特別是龍蝦,幾隻甩"腳"橫屍碟上,令人食慾大減。ZUMA消費水平不算低,食物水準竟然是這樣...難道去日本餐廳,只該吃刺身嗎?失望過後,我點了這個香蕉蛋糕甜點,希望可以令自己開心點!可能現在流行健美瘦身,甜品師傅都不敢做太甜的甜點了,這蛋糕口味也是淡淡的...ZUMA有自家提供的清酒,可惜美酒並沒有佳餚配合...可惜可惜...

和很久不見的小學同學午餐一聚,大家都希望坐好點吃好點。她想了很久決定了Zuma,是最近人氣的店,確實令我有點期待。一到門口接待處感受到名店的氣勢,一大條玻璃旋轉樓梯到下面用餐區(坦白講,我並不喜歡,還好那天我不是短裙高跟鞋)坐下了,感覺很好,店挺大也夠開掦,裝飾是摩登簡約木質風,算是我喜愛的類。看餐牌set lunch 是4xx,心想ok !中環是貴的,味道應該很好。至少要吃得飽。但最後還是失望而回!魚生很一般,可以和元X比較。主菜上枱令人充滿希望,但失望更大!魚老了,牛也老了。我直頭懶得用太多字顯示我的失望,令人為一安慰的是,難吃的東西沒有影響我們聊天的心情(洗手間倒是值得一讚)

My friends took me to Zuma for champagne brunch. We made a booking and got there before 2pm, they only let people in when the brunch starts.The food was amazing, lots of choices, fresh and they never let the plate be empty, refilling was better than 5 stars hotel. Really liked their oysters, sushimi and sushi. The dessert platter was a surprise, they knew it was my birthday and put a candle on it for me. The disappointing part was their soup based dishes, was too salty.Great place for a group of

Zuma一直知道食日式料理好出名,但價錢真係好貴,所以今次就去飲野算,我同朋友食完飯9點30左右到,本身仲話驚冇位,點知上到去仲好多空位剩,特地就坐左係bar台,先講下要境入面比一般酒吧感覺上高級好多,入面亦好大,幾乎都係外國人.而且仲有注場dj係到,好似係個法國混血兒,都幾高大同型,最重要係佢mix d歌幾好聽,酒既種類亦都好多,本meun分哂類比你睇,難得黎到更係揀d特別d先,我點左個煙燻酒,smoked japanese whiskey sour,160蚊一杯,幾易入口,煙勳味唔會好重,再混合檸檬同whiskey味好特別.最後亦都點多左杯sparkling.埋單每人300蚊左右.個晚因為冇咩人所以1:00左右就close.

saturday brunch: learned about this brunch from friends long time ago, and finally got a chance to visit. it's not a short time of waiting, i think my friend booked a table for 2 at least 1 month ago. there are 2 prices, about 500 without alcohols, 700 with unlimited alcohols (including white, red, champagne and sake). for me, of coz 700 packages, we literally tried all 4. the dining hall has tall ceiling, crystal lighting, spacious tables, bright dining area, already a good start.There are 2 se

the dining hall has tall ceiling, crystal lighting, spacious tables, bright dining area, already a good start.
There are 2 sessions for sat brunch, i think 2.5 hours a session, it's a bit short especially for a group of people. for us, 2 people, it's quite enough.
the setting is all you can eat from the table for starters and appetizers, then you choose 1 main from 6 options, last for special dessert which you don't know what it is.
the best part is the buffet starters, there are japenses and western foods, great variety, including sushi, sashimi, grill meats and veggies (japanese way), japanese cold noodle, fried crab meat potato balls, different salad, beaf, chicken wings, etc. too many choices....(i wish i could take more photos)
the main course is relatively small, however, after the buffet starters, you wouldn't have space for any bigger main course indeed. well, we chose wagyu steak and lamb cutlet, the main dishes are all cooked in either japanese way or in sauce infused with japanese ingredients, they all match well and delicious, I particularly like the lamb cutlet, never had lamb cutlet in this kind of sauce, perfectly cooked.
We tried house white and red, champagne and sake, i saw most people were having champagne, fair enough, we both agree that the champagne is better in 4 choices. I was very pleased that the waitress was patient and polite, she kept changing our plates, and we have new glasses every time we changed our drinks, 10 out of 10 to the service. 
The special dessert, unexpectedly, a huge bucket with all sorts of desserts including ice-cream, cake, fresh fruit, you can see from the photo. 
Overall, definitely recommend to my friends and it's a great place for celebriation.

今天和大夥同事來吃buffet brunch,free-flow alcohol,星期日的早上就應該這樣過。Brunch分兩個時段,11am-1pm和1:30pm-3:30pm,今次我們只訂到早上的時段,兩小時其實有點趕。坐在室外也不算熱,感覺不錯。Buffet table的選擇不少質素亦很好,刺身有帶子、甜蝦、油甘魚等,還有牛油果卷、軟殻蟹卷、生蠔、半熟蛋、燒冬菇、燒粟米、關東煮蘿蔔、蔴醬菠菜、蜆等等。帶子刺身數量較少,喜歡吃要先拿。以自助餐而言人數不算太多。主菜有數款可以選,我們選了西冷、羊鞍、魚鮫和天婦羅。四款裡似乎是西冷比較好。甜品單是看樣子已經很吸引,冰磚上有多球雪糕,其中芝麻和stracciatella特別好味。圍着有咖啡和焦糖蛋糕、芒果和士多啤梨奶凍、還有許多水果。總括來説,食物的質素尤其以buffet而言實在不錯,如果可以悠閒一點坐久一點就更好了。

一入到黎裝修好西式。。幾靚baby chicken..好香口。。。不過salty 鮋魚吾知點解要用葉包。。。可能純粹靚。。lol好厚肉好新鮮。。爽口天婦羅好脆得黎又無搶左蝦的鮮味sweet photo 帶d芝麻香吾錯三文魚sushi..穩震菜式。。一定好食啦crab sushi吾油膩。。抵讚bloody Mary 第一次飲。。好濃的tomato juice..濃到搶哂main course d 味。。。

I visited Zuma for dinner with my son and a good friend a few weeks ago. We made reservations beforehand so it was really a matter of waiting for Zuma's lady hostess to assign a waitress to show us to our table. 

For those of you who are not familiar with Zuma, it is situated on the 5&6th Floor by the Mandarin Oriental hotel / Landmark. It is a stunning venue, gorgeous staircase that leads you from the 6th floor (which is really the entrance to the reception desk) to the 5th floor where the dining tables are. The walk down the staircase makes you feel ever so glamorous and celebrity like - even if you are just a normal person carrying a 2 year old!

My friend did most of the ordering as this occasion was a birthday treat to me
I was definitely treated! Before we started eating - I do have to special mention this - I brought my 2 year old son with me. And Zuma is a VERY VERY beautiful and nice restaurant. The chairs were PERFECT for him, they have an extra cushion that serves as a booster seat and he was very very comfortable. And our lovely waitress Annabel (who deserves a special mention because she was friendly and very patient - remember I brought my 2 year old son with me!) gave my son some colouring pencils and a colouring book - so he was very happy. For a beautiful restaurant to also be child friendly - it's just a big big BIG bonus all around!

It was then followed by a plate of sliced seabass with yuzu and truffle dressing. Incredible texture and quality of this seabass I have to say, was just like butter. Was so incredibly smooth and silky. I really enjoyed this!

We then had a beautifully presented platter which was fresh sea urchin with kombu dashi and shaved truffles on top. It was very delicate, the platter that it was presented in was stunning - you can tell the chefs in the kitchen are very meticulously trained and have an incredible eye for detail.

Next came our mains which was the Robata platter that consisted of lambchops, chicken skewers, grilled large prawns with a scrumptious large scallop. My son ended up eating the lambchop and he was very happy with it!

The next big highlight of the night was the dessert platter. Now here is where Zuma just really out done themselves! All the fruits were all flown in fresh from Japan (beautiful beautiful quality and selection), the details in presentation and the flavours plus the ice cream and the overall effect of this dish was just... i cannot even describe to you.

I really loved the sesame brittle and the molten chocolate was warm and sensational. You really can taste the quality in the food! 

Overall I had a fantastic food experience - highly recommend to anyone who appreciates fine food, has a great pallete for quality Japanese cuisine or for someone who just wants to feel luxuriously spoiled as I did!

The service of this place is unbelievably bad from beginning till the end, no matter how good the food was, their service was just not living up to it.  We had a party of 8 people, I arrived 10 minutes earlier just to make sure I welcome all my guests.  First of all, I was being asked to wait by the elevator for straight 10 minutes, not even offered a chair.  Then I was being brought to a table below the staircases, I didn't expect there will be a table below the staircase in a restaurant like t

The service of this place is unbelievably bad from beginning till the end, no matter how good the food was, their service was just not living up to it.  We had a party of 8 people, I arrived 10 minutes earlier just to make sure I welcome all my guests.  First of all, I was being asked to wait by the elevator for straight 10 minutes, not even offered a chair.  Then I was being brought to a table below the staircases, I didn't expect there will be a table below the staircase in a restaurant like this.  Anyway, that's already enough to start with.. all waiters had long faces, they poured champagne overflowing the glasses onto the table and walked away, without apologies or anything, and they didn't even clean up the table before we asked them to.

After the lunch, we went out to the terrace to have a cigarette and my friend ordered a bottle of champagne, we waited for 20 minutes, but eventually the manager said they couldn't serve us because our time limit of 2 hours for the lunch is over.  We supposed they should tell us when we placed the order but not after more than 20 minutes that we waited and chased, that we finally got an anwer like this.  I was really upset and very embarrassed in front of my guests.

Of course I will never visit this place again, and I won't recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.

I am writing to express my disappointment for the service i received at Zuma last night.
We started our dinner at 915pm. As usual, the service was not great, but I wasn't too surprised given my previous experiences. The food was great, no complaint about it. However, halfway through the dinner, I noticed the waiters moving table and chairs around us, and later I understood that they were trying to set up the table for the Halloween party which started 12am. Not only was the moving a bit chaotic and very noise, we were asked twice if they could serve us our dessert when we were still having our last dish on the tasting menu. They meant have your dessert NOW - even though you were still eating your steak. I said no. Anyway, one minute after we finished our main dishes, the dessert arrived. Fine. When we were halfway eating it, there were two waiters who DUMPED the bill TWICE on our table, without us having asked for it and gave us no explanation at all (basically just dumped the bill on our table and walked off). So in the end, we were pretty much chased out of the restaurant at 11ish.
It would be fine if the waiters had explain to us that they needed to close a bit early for set up, but it was pure rude to put the bill twice on our table and tried to force us to eat dessert while we were still eating our steak.
No matter how good your food is, your service doesn't live up to it.

This place is always full at lunch, not because of the quality of food or service I suspect, but just being full of bankers / lawyers from the Landmark vicinity with clients they want to impress with a well decorated and spacious restaurant with outdoor views. On to the food critique...

I had the daily set lunch, of HK$450 (!!!) including appetizer (choice of crab salad, tomato salad or salmon tataki), first course of chirashi don / sashimi / or nigiri, and second course of lamb with edamame puree, grilled sea bass or grilled prawn cold noodles. (You can add $180 to upgrade to miso cod or wagyu beef)

- Salmon tataki: This was actually the best out of three courses, the salmon was fresh, sliced finely and well-grilled to a slightly burnt finish

- Sashimi: Nothing stand-out here and honestly I could get much better sashimi at many of the boutique sushi restaurants in Central or Causeway Bay.  The fish neither tasted particularly fresh nor unfresh; in other words, very mediocre. Tuna was not much better than Sen-ryo type quality

- Second course: My dining partner had the roasted lamb while I had the noodles.  He said the lamb was a bit dry and tough, while my noodles were downright awful.  It tasted like the instant noodles or cold ramen you could get in chain restaurants bathed in a tasteless sauce (not even spicy per the description, or maybe watered down for non-Asian tastebuds). The only good part was the prawns, which were fresh and springy. I had great difficulty even finishing half of the dish

No dessert and no coffee / tea, which are staples of most Central lunch sets.

Not a place I would recommend, even to out-of-towners.

廚師也為我們準備了另外一款的魚生, 要留意的是這不是在藝術盛宴的菜式中的。這款魚生切得薄身, 也是新鮮的, 伴微酸的醬汁, 也醒胃。

Zuma, a casual and stylish modern Japanese restaurant, very popular for their weekend all-you-can-eat champagne brunch, has introduced a Seasonal sashimi 廚師特選刺身($2,280), created by their Head Sushi Chef, Kazutoshi Endo.

The presentation of this sashimi platter was flawless. Its colours and composition were movingly beautiful, and the sashimi was exquisitely fresh. The Hokkaido uni was lifted by a refreshing flowery scent; the seaweed jelly was a tad sour and had an interesting texture, and the lobster, adorned by some purple shiso flowers, had an impeccable texture.

The tuna, served with truffle shavings, tasted attractive, and the grilled fish, dressed with pink rock salt freshly grated by the waiter in front of us, was also marvellous.

選料方面, 全部都是相當新鮮的海鮮, 當中最吸引的要數吞拿魚, 面頭加上了松露, 松露的清香配上吞拿魚的鮮甜味道, 效果是相當不俗的. 而海膽味道鮮甜, 完全沒有腥味, 當然是水準之作. 另外, 龍蝦亦是教人驚喜的選擇, 肉質爽口, 令人滿意. 另外, 也試了魷魚和鯛魚, 味道清新, 鮮味十足, 也是不能錯過的項目.

Shima-aji 縞鯵
: 8分, 另外大廚也特別預備了一客縞鯵給我們試試, 不過大家請留意的是這客縞鯵並不是藝術盛宴的菜式. 刺身切得夠薄, 肉質嫩滑, 味道鮮甜, 不過稍嫌醬汁下得太多了, 有點蓋過了縞鯵的味道.
