We were keen to try high tea at the Clipper Lounge because we love British high tea and collectively we have tried a few well-known places in Hong Kong, London, and other places internationally. This was by far the worst high tea experience we've had, both in terms of food and decor. We were "traumatized" by how bad it was. I had a plateful of half eaten pastries/cakes because of how bad they were.
We booked our table online ~4 weeks in advance, but they put us at the worst table possible - next to a corner wall with barely any light with loud noises of whatever remodeling they were doing right next to the lounge.
We were hoping the food would save the experience, but NO. While the finger sandwiches were fine, the pastries/cakes, scones, and tea were way below the quality I would expect from such a place. The quality is at best on par with, or even below, the quality you would find at a very average cafe/pastry shop, except this high tea is ~HK$700 for 2 people! The scones were among the worst - cold and hard!!! The fruit cake was equally bad. The other cakes/cookies were just okay. The two different teas we tried were weak and the water not hot enough at all.
There are better places in HK for high tea. Won't be coming here again.
