Went to this eatery for celebrating a friend’s birthday. She is a vegetarian. Many years ago, we went to this place very often. As time goes by, we came here lesser. So tried this place in its new location.
The décor was quite nice. Its matching colour of light green and beige goes really well with the Victoria Harbour view. Quite refreshing! It also matches with a vegetarian restaurant.
Wasn’t aware that it was Chor One when we booked the table, that was why that it was so crowded. When we arrived at 7:30pm, there were some people waiting outside already.
We ordered a 細拼盤,上海粗炒,魚香栗子雜菌煲and a 小籠包.細拼盤had 炸脆鱔,雞絲粉皮,素火腿,四喜烤夫.炸脆鱔 was quite nice. It was crispy fried and went with a slightly spicy sauce. 四喜烤夫 was not bad too. It had some shanghainese pea to go with it. In fact, it would be better that more ingredients such as mushrooms and bamboo shoots were added, then would be better.
The 上海粗炒 was exceptionally good. The noodle was very traditional shanghainese noodle. They were chewy and had good 彈牙 texture, unlike those ordinary one, which was rather hard and tasteless. The 魚香栗子雜菌煲 was not bad too but would be better if it was more spicy.
Then we ordered some sweet dumplings as an end.
