  鵝肝小巧一件,煎得金黃帶焦意,中心還有點點嫩紅色澤,油光輕泛。外皮富有焦香,破開薄脆外層之後迎來了香滑的中心,不腥不膻也不膩。油香適中,未會過份濃烈,亦不是淡淺一捺。配上焦糖蘋果的爽綿纖維感,以及酸香的有氣蘋果酒汁及郁厚的海鹽牛油焦糖醬。清膩之間取得平衡,質感上也有相當對比,還算香口。

  北海道帶子切成薄片,點上一點黑松露醬為點綴。可惜太過薄身,帶子的鮮甜美味未能滲透而出,同時看上去也裂裂的。黑松露香氣不重,就只是那輕輕擦過,其實不太能嚐出來。表面灑上黑椒雖然夠香,但整體本味已經不突出,這更是蓋過那淡淡的原味。

  用到新西蘭出產的蛤蜊,一鍋置得滿滿的不失場。特別之處在於不如平常的白酒煮,底湯為蘋果西打酒,加添點點果香。酒味本來就不重,酒精成分低,煮過後只留點點酸甜,膩度不高。另加入香芹提香,不怕突兀,跟蘋果香氣沒有相撞。

  小小的牛肉菠菜卷以Crepe作餅皮,卷好後切成小段插上牙籤方便進食。餅皮連點點焦意,加上蕎麥麵漿原本棕褐的色調,有少許烤過頭的印象。不過入口香氣深邃明顯,軟身微韌,味道清新不教人膩滯。牛肉部份夠香口,沒有連帶太多脂肪當然膩度低,不韌柴又帶嚼感。菠菜配上牛肉,且有孜然坐陣,青味消失不見,只留那清新的絲絲纖維。可醮點芥末醬同食,微嗆微辣的香氣更能提升食味。不吃牛肉的可以選另一款Spicy Chicken,但我沒有嚐到就不作評論了。

  完整四粒帶子肉鋪在薄餅之上,沒有薄切,以Jameson威士忌烤過,微微金黃帶焦。帶子肉稔彈帶爽,不會過份乾柴,並帶淡淡鮮甜香美。煙肉粒鹹香提味,配上味清的帶子就剛好取個平衡。混合忌廉製作的蒜苗奶醬,奶味及蒜苗香氣濃郁突出。稠度適中不黏口,膩感不重且香氣也解膩,酒味留餘一絲香。

  這款Crepe以煙三文魚、菠菜、雞蛋及忌廉作配料,讓人不禁想起Egg Benedict了。煙三文魚本帶橙紅,熟後添上點點粉色,賣相不俗。鹹味剛好,帶有三文魚魚肉的香氣,油香則普普。說到菠菜,總教人想起那點菜青味,當遇上煙三文魚的鹹鮮,已經減淡數分。絲絲纖維稔綿易化,還有那淡淡的香,香味平易近人。

  那橙紅汁的醬汁下藏著的是龍蝦肉,事先去殼方便進食。龍蝦肉爽彈鮮美,沒有太重的雪藏味,而且不覺霉淋。酸甜厚郁的醬汁當然也不能忽視,原來用到魚湯自家製蕃茄醬忌廉煮成。開胃可口,味道甜香自然,不會太重奶膩感。表面灑上香芹碎提香,清新不嗆,亦不會搶去龍蝦及醬汁本味。

  十分飽肚的一款Crepe,內有大量的薯粒,加上Reblochon芝士、煙肉及洋蔥作餡。薯粒切得偏大粒,咬下去時微粉微爽,不會太淋爛,仍有咬口。芝士香氣不俗,尤其是新鮮做好上桌的時候,那溫熱加上香氣就特別出眾。煙肉鹹香不會過火,因為芝士本味溫和,薯仔及洋蔥就更不用說。煙肉鹹味就正正起了調味之用,平易近人且不膩口。如果是超級芝士迷,這家還有一款加倍芝士的叫La Super Eckmühl $155

  端上桌來未食已聞香,全因這份是三芝合一,芝士的鹹香當然不失場。Roquefort為經典的藍芝士,濕潤順口,濃郁芝味之中帶點甜香;Emmental帶淡黃色的半硬質芝士,溫和的一款,略有堅果香氣;Camembert白黴芝士軟滑厚稠,鹹香不重,但就滋潤甜美。火腿就是平常早餐吃到的片裝,製至沒有肉絲質感,完全細滑那種。面頭再打上雞蛋,溏心蛋黃蛋香郁然,沒有腥味,算是加分位。

  配搭獨特有趣的一款,以油封鴨鴨肉為主調,加上大量的椒跡。不單是一大堆的椒絲,連那晶透的醬汁也是紅椒醬。溫和不嗆的醬汁帶來少許香辣,不過用量少,辣度不高,平和香口。鴨肉不會硬韌油膩得過份,肉香十足,調味亦為剛好的鹹香。而Emmental芝士亦非濃味厚郁的重口味款式,整件吃下去倒讓人聯想到片皮鴨包了。

  火辣辣的性感女神不愧是我們的新歡,那藍藍的火焰完完全全吸引目光。餐牌中有一款叫La Crepe Suzette $78,也是有火焰效果,不過就沒有雪糕。Cointreau橙味甜酒作為惹火之處,先是加添果香酒香。以酸清果味為主,用上冰感不重的芒果熱情果雪葩配碎杏仁,細滑更利口。青檸汁作調味,酸酸果味愈加提升,你說,膩感何在?

  這款大概是最熟口熟面的Crepe,在Instagram上不斷瘋傳。焦糖香蕉包圍著大大的一球焦糖雪糕,另外澆上海鹽焦糖醬。焦糖香蕉以焦糖煮至變色,綿密稔化,增添豐厚果味。焦糖雪糕當中又有硬實帶嚼勁的焦糖粒,甜味升級,更是濃香。海鹽焦糖醬作結尾修飾,甜,但不過火,溫和易入口。簡單概括而言,這就是一片焦糖海,由頭最尾都是濃郁甜蜜的焦糖。

  以綠作主調的一款crepe,看上去就已經覺得清涼舒爽。開心果雪糕果仁香氣還不差,自然香滑,未有過份的膩感。杏仁片輕灑之上,薄身香口,果仁味不會太搶做主角。澆的是甜美蜜糖,稠身卻不死實,甜味帶香非死甜,可口不過。附著不少我討厭的薄荷葉,沒辦法,唯有快快挑開。

  以焦糖蘋果作主調的Crepe,配上雲尼拿雪糕以及海鹽焦糖醬作伴。首先看到那雲尼拿雪糕的細點雲尼拿籽就心定一點,甜味香氣不會是太人工香精或藥水味。甜蜜得宜不過火的海鹽焦糖醬進一步帶來香氣增飾。焦糖蘋果還是焦糖煮過的蘋果,並非香脆灼個焦糖面那種,酸度適中,最後來點果味。

  忌廉多多的一款,幸好友人們會幫我吃掉這些我不喜歡的白奶泡。這款的特色就是那雪糕,口味竟是Panna Cotta?即是意式奶凍,溫和的甜香奶味沒有讓我抗拒。加上那酸甜的草莓以及草莓果醬,更是去膩開胃,讓人忘掉奶膩。

  終可一嚐店家推薦的蘋果酒,有Dry、Semi-dry及Sweet三款之分。酒精含量也有分別,這款Semi-dry的就是4.5%,其實也沒大不了。果味清香自然,不會對此存疑,一聞一喝根本沒有半點倒胃口的藥水味。酒精苦嗆不存在,且有點汽泡,感覺有如喝蘋果汽水。

  縱觀而言論款式就確是多變化,不時有新款推出,新鮮感滿載。價格方面一如所料頗貴價,幸好質素還可以,第一次試或是再吃的話還是午市抵食。以單一餐款作招徠其實有點危險,就是客人也許不會留意其他餐點。而且那主要賣點必須要做得十分出色及獨特才可以突圍而出。驟看香港幾家法式班戟,問起吃貨友人們通常第一時間提起這家。競爭還未算激烈,但要做到深人民心,實際上終究仍有難度。

There were set lunch offer, which we recommend and will probably try in our future visit. However, this time we went with A La Carte and ordered one fish soup to share (as I saw a few reviews here on Openrice, people did recommend), 2 main course (savoury crepe - buy 1 get 1) and 1 dessert (Crepe). Highly recommended!!!! The fish soup is very rich in flavour and goes perfectly well with the cheese and bread cubes! We told the waiter that we will share this so they had separate it into 2 bowls for us which came very handy

I had this one with mushroom as topping, together with the soft egg and ham (should be).I prefered mine than my friend's as the mushroom was nicely seasonsed and went well with the egg and the crepe. We found both of the savoury crepe a bit overcooked as if you just had it (without the fillings), it's a bit bitter. Is that supposed to be?

I tried a bit of my friends. It was filled with cheese potato salad and bacon. Good for all cheese lover and this was super filling!!!! I would recommend sharing with others so you won't be full (before dessert) ;)

This was very yummy~!!!! We checked with the waiter and this was one of the best seller I believe! We were really full by the time it arrived but then we finished it in 10 mins!

It was great that this crepe doesn't have that bitter taste like the savoury ones. The caramel ice cream was very tasty and went well with the fried banana, the crepe and the sauce on top. 

We would love to try more of sweet crepes as well as other food besides savoury crepe. I think it would be nice to have more people to share as the portion was a filling size.
题外话/补充资料: We (2 girls) found the restaurant from a phone application (The Entertainer) and we wanted to make good use of the offer to save some money (ie. buy 1 main course get 1 free, limited to savoury crepe only which means not even pasta, we only realized this at the restaurant). I called the restaurant to book in the morning but for some reason they couldn't find my booking. Luckily, there was a table for two and we didn't have to wait. It was quite a busy day. Having that said, there were still spaces at the bar area but the main dining section was pretty packed.

On this Friday night, we went to visit the third La Crêperie situated in the L Square which was a 3-minute walk from Causeway Bay station. Those who had visited their Wanchai or Sheung Wan stores would find the design and the marine theme familiar; the restaurant was decorated like a cabin, staff were in sailor uniforms and the salt and pepper pots were mini lighthouses. This crêperie coming from Brittany (or Bretagne in French) was fast becoming a favourite among diners in the area, patrons could come for dinner or desserts or both. 
The warm welcome amidst the jovial ambience made us feel at home and it was quite enjoyable watching staff bustling around the open kitchen. We began with chilled apple cider which was a local beverage that went well with crepes; there were sweet and dry ones to choose from - the former tasted of the very essence of apples and the latter was much smoother when you ate it after crepes. For appetizer we chose the mini galette with ham, quail egg and black truffle. The intoxicating fragrance of black truffle wafted under our very noses as we bit into the thin crisp wheat galette - a perfect match. We went on to La Piano - which was a savory mix of cheese, salmon and smoked salmon on a wheat crepe which was so fresh that one could almost taste the sea breeze. After that came the part my companion loved best - the desserts. Here the crepes were made from batter that contained eggs. First the one with pistachio ice cream atop; it was lightly sweet with the crisp almonds and mint leaves garnish. Then the heavenly conclusion with a flambé which was a nice show with the flames licking the rum raisin pineapple crepe with coffee ice cream. Not many eateries would prepare this with a whole uncut ring of pineapple and it was an exquisite experience as the strong flavours were in harmony and not competition. 
This most satisfying night turned out to cost only $221 per head; there would certainly be encore visits with the very heartwarming service (thoughtful down to the very detail of water temperature), the wonderful crepes and the comfortable setting.

相信大家都知道La Crêperie這餐廳吧,在香港開業已一段時間;最近則在銅鑼灣開設了分店,面積比其他分店的大,而且還添加了一些新的菜式呢。餐廳的裝潢都是以布列塔尼的海事風情獨特設計,個人也頗喜歡這種設計呢。先來品嚐這裡的魚湯,看顏色,我還以為是龍蝦湯;這湯充滿了魚香,質感亦濃稠,頗鮮甜的。New Zealand clams cassolette cooked in apple cider sauce with garlic and parsley HK$98我很喜歡吃蜆,喜歡它的肥嘟嘟;這款蜆的味道很鮮呢,充滿了海水的鮮味,用了蒜和parsley作香料,香氣更上一層樓呢;而蜆亦新鮮,肥嘟嘟的,不錯呢。Foie Gras (pan fried duck liver with caramelised apples, sweet apple cider sauce and salted butter caramel) HK$98鵝肝是比較膩的食物,但其美味度又無其他能及,最好就是配著甜甜的酸酸的食材,就像這份鵝肝,用了無糖蘋果來做伴碟,那甜香令鵝肝沒那樣膩呢。Hokkaido Scall

銅鑼灣這家新開的分店和灣仔分店一樣,都是藏身於大廈之內。客人甫一打開電梯便已直達餐廳內部。這樣做最大的好處是可以省卻好一筆門面的裝修費,也不用另派員工負責門口的招待工作,只將精力集中在做好餐廳本身便足夠。

除了掛在牆上的帆船圖片和木製的舵之外,大家在上邊這張照片中還能發現什麼?試看一下混在其中的不同顏色,聰明的各位應該不難猜到是和法國國旗有關:藍白相間的座位、白色的帆、藍色的海洋、再加上懸在天花板上,隱指為「太陽」的鮮紅色掛燈,正好就是法國國旗中代表自由、平等、博愛三種顏色

既然主題為「航海」,餐廳內自然也有其他相關的擺設:這個造型栩栩如生的船長人偶和旁邊像真度極高的帆船模型便是很好的例子。

將餐刀如此擺放可說是此店獨一無二的特色。曾去過不少更高級的餐廳,也從來沒見過這種擺法。雖然在衛生上而言是十分好,但對客人來說,在餐點上檯之前就要小心一些,以免被餐刀割傷,影響用餐氣氛。

L'ECKMÜHL的餡料為:法式瑞布羅申 (Reblochon) 芝士、薯仔、切粒煙肉、洋蔥,佐以蔬菜沙律。

和「日式可麗餅」在餅皮方面最大的分別是,傳統法式的餅皮偏脆且有焦香,不似日式般加了那麼多牛奶,所以在口感上不如前者般香滑。而且,由於這道是鹹食,餅皮吃得出沒有任何多餘的調味,估計是不希望它喧賓奪主,搶了餡料本身的味道。

至於餡料,Reblochon這種芝士和知名的布利 (Brie) 芝士一樣質地軟滑,但帶有更強烈的香味,非常適合用來烤焗或者油炸,無可否認,它正正就是這道美食不可或缺的主角。

除此之外,薯仔、煙肉等都事先經過油炸,本身的香味和口感得到進一步提升,和芝士同吃的話自然更加美味。

最後不得不提的是蔬菜沙律:廚師所用的Dressing是法式沙律醋而非普通沙律醬,最主要的原因應是考慮到各方面的平衡 - 以酸醋加上新鮮菜蔬,便可以中和L'ECKMÜHL本身的油膩感,非常明智。

餐牌上雖然寫明是專為「芝士愛好者」(for Cheese Lovers) 度身訂做,若自問不是什麼芝士都會喜歡的話,選擇這道菜時就要小心了。(笑)

LA SUPER COMPLÈTE的餡料為:火腿、雞蛋 (半熟)、埃文達 (Emmental) 芝士、卡門貝爾 (Camembert) 芝士、羅克福 (Roquefort) 芝士,並同樣地佐以蔬菜沙律。

Emmental 和 Camembert 也罷了,Roquefort就是在很多酒店自助餐裡面的芝士拼盤上經常可以見到的「藍芝士」。它以羊奶製造,味道非常強烈酵厚,而且鹽味極重,令我每吃幾口便要喝上一口水。不過,由於Roquefort是世界最出名的芝士之一,很值得推薦給各位愛吃芝士的朋友試試。

吃法國菜又豈能忘了甜品?這道LE PÊCHEUR由朱古力、香蕉、烤杏仁片和忌廉組成。而上邊的雲喱拿雪糕其實是另加的。

各種材料整體的配合可稱完美:餅皮為配合甜食而弄得較為煙韌,不似鹹食般鬆脆;杏仁片烤得恰到好處,絲毫沒有苦味;即使是香蕉,也以梨味糖水煮過。放在碟上一起吃的話,各種味道為口腔帶來的衝擊妙不可言。

題外話,若遇上一道甜品中有不少朱古力,而又可以容許選擇一款雪糕作為搭配的話,我會強烈建議大家選擇雲喱拿雪糕。理由是:雲喱拿的味道可以為濃郁的朱古力味帶來很好的平衡,兩者交替來吃的話,能夠為味蕾帶來最高的享受。

總結:
今時今日,在一股追逐專門化精品化的潮流帶動下,即使是飲食方面,人們愈來愈傾向於去一些強調特色的食肆嚐新。作為一個喜愛美食的消費者,我非常樂見這種現象,因為在此等風氣之下,我們才有機會體驗到更多各國美食的真實面貌,品嚐真正的「原味」。

A big part of how we evaluate a restaurant experience is how we are received, and in this regard we were well pleased; Tommi Lau made us feel welcome immediately and was very friendly.

We were also pleased with the layout and seating: more open and spacious than many places that tend to cram tables too close together. The decor is thoughtful and fits the theme (we especially liked the Breton Lighthouse salt and pepper shakers).

Not having had traditional Breton food prior to this visit, we had no idea what to expect. But almost immediately we saw the Set Lunch was perfect, rather than ordering a la carte. The set lunch included a galette or pasta or salad, a dessert crepe, and a choice of beverage.

Each day the mains are changed, so there's always something different. We chose to have the galette, a savoury pancake made with buckwheat flour (gluten-free, much appreciated!). The Galette of the Day was La Bigoudene, consisting of ham, emmental cheese, a sunny-side up egg and salad. For filling we chose spinach, from choices including mushroom, tomato or onion.

As the galettes are made to order we received ours only a few minutes later, a plus if you only have limited time for lunch.
The taste was amazing: the buckwheat flour gave it a slightly bitter flavour that neatly offset the creamy blend of ham, cheese, egg and spinach. Those unused to buckwheat may think it is burnt but as you can see, it was definitely not overcooked. The salad was very crisp as well.
One interesting note about the galette: it is more filling than it appears, so it's a good idea to arrive hungry.
For the dessert crepe, I chose chocolate with carmelised banana, while my wife chose the stewed apple and caramel crepe. These were also well-presented and larger than expected. We also learned the caramel sauce is made in house for maximum quality control and to ensure it's not too sweet.

Between these crepes we preferred the chocolate/banana, mainly because we are not used to sweet foods and found it less sweet than the apple/caramel. That's not to say the apple wasn't good, it was excellent. Both crepes were solid, with a pleasing chewy texture quite different from the lightweight crepes elsewhere that fall apart too easily.
Looking at the menu we noticed a raft of other crepes, so we'll have plenty to choose from on our next visit.
We were also pleased with the quality and flavour of the coffee; I had black coffee and my wife had a latte. I also added an espresso for an incredibly reasonable $10, which was also quite nice: strong and rich.

Even though it grew busier from the lunch rush, the servers were attentive and topped up our water regularly. Tommi also came by a few times to chat and answer questions, letting us know more about the Afternoon Tea and other options, as well as the two other locations in Hong Kong. He did point out that the Causeway Bay location was better for making reservations as the other branches are usually too busy.
My only complaint it was that when the lunch crowd arrived, the noise increased quite a bit, almost to the point where conversing became difficult. It wasn't unexpected, many Hong Kong restaurants can be noisy. But perhaps a bit of sound-dampening could be added to the decor somehow.

Overall we were impressed and will certainly return to try the many other galettes and crepes.
题外话/补充资料: Lunch Set runs weekdays from Noon to 3pm, followed by Afternoon Tea Set. Although there is just a single washroom, it caters to patrons with disabilities.

再次來到La Crêperie, 水準依然令人滿意, 在這裡吃Crêpe, 無論是鹹的跟甜的也不能錯過. 而且店員態度友善, BB凳亦幾舒適, 晴晴亦坐得很開心呢 (哈哈, 只是起初的十五分鐘, 之後她還是要四處行走, 小魔怪出動!)

Sexy Suzette $88: 8.5分, 來到Sweet Crêpe的部份, 兩款選擇皆是新品. Sexy Suzette上檯的時候火光熊熊, 真漂亮. Crêpe的質感依舊很薄身, 有水準, 這次配上的包括有青檸汁, 烤杏仁, Mövenpick熱情果及芒果雪芭, 最後加上Cointreau橙酒, 酒精被燃燒過後, 酒味不會太濃, 味道是酸酸甜甜的, 很醒胃呢.

Being fairly new, there was not many people so we were seated on arrival.

I took La Gabier which is made of lobster in a tomato based sauce with some garlic and parsley to go with it. The lobster was perfectly cooked to keep the meat soft and flavourful. The sauce combined very well in order to enhance and enrich the taste.
My only complaint, and I already noticed that in Sheung Wan/Wan Chai, was that the galette itself was a bit on the dry side. A little bit more butter would have been welcomed, even if the sauce which go with the meat kind of compensate it. That comment also apply to the crepes.

My wife had La Marin, with scallops and bacon in a creamy sauce. I already tasted it in my previous visits at the other La Creperie and it was as good as the other time I tasted it.

Galettes are great but you need to finish on a sweet note so a crepe at the end was mandatory. 
My wife took La Jamaicaine composed of a coffee ice cream, cooked bananas, banana cream, raisins and chocolate sauce. The all thing is flambee with alcohol (rhum most likely). Pretty rich combination, full of taste. Can't go wrong with that.

I took La Coupe de l'America. It's a mango ice cream wrapped in a crepe, flambee with grand marnier, and some chocolate sauce. Pretty good too but it could probably add something more in the combination to enhance a bit the all thing. Still a solid crepe.

So, all in all, this third branch has managed to keep the same quality level as the 2 others and is recommended if Causeway Bay is closer for you.

來了兩個前菜,分別是藍貝青口及鴨肝。藍貝青口大小可愛,原來是Brittany青口的特色,體型較小,但味道海水味濃郁,簡單地用白酒、洋蔥及蒜作調味,已經顯得格外惹味。薯條是薯仔直切角炸成的,口感有點稔。

鴨肝賣相精緻,味道豐郁,雖然沒有鵝肝的綿密口感和細緻口味,但也各有千秋。以焦糖煮成的甜蘋果意想不同的美味,除了用以平衡膩感,更有點喧賓奪主呢!

好了好了,主菜Galette來了!Galette顏色較深並不是因為糊了,而是因為鹹食的Galette使用的不是小麥粉而是蕎麥,色澤較深,味道更有陣陣如蘑菇的味道。
La Bigoudene是其中一款最傳統的Galette,上有太陽蛋、火腿、瑞士芝士、蘑菇及沙律。芝士味濃郁,刺穿太陽蛋和火腿同吃,混和後的味道最好!

到君度燃燒盡時,酒精亦已燒散,只餘下橙酒的陣陣馥香。吃起來有濃郁的檸檬與橙酒味,Crepe的口感也很彈牙。檸檬雪芭酸酸的很刺激味蕾也很Fresh!

呢個Sweet Crepe真係好正呀~
有我最愛的焦糖雪糕,本身呢個甜品係跟香蕉,但我地都唔食蕉,幫我地轉左蘋果,蘋果係用焦糖煮過所以十分入味!

這一餐係一個好好的賞試,始終都是喜歡甜味的Crepe~繼續向不同的食物出發,水手們 航行吧

聽講公司附近開左法國餐廳,是日中午同公司同事一行十多人黎食lunch。lunch set 包左一個主菜,一個crepe同一杯飲品。各人order 左2款crepe,一甜一鹹。2款都好好食!對於鐘情甜品既我,首選當然係朱古力焦糖香蕉味crepe。同事order 左另一款crepe: honey and lemon juice crepe。原本以為會好酸,食入口好juicy 好fresh,估都估唔到檸檬加左糖之後可以咁夾!如果怕朱古力焦糖香蕉太"漏",絕對要點依個黎試!整體黎講好滿意,可以再encall!

We had been honored to savour their new Le French Gourmay menu which was is available in May and June. It is basically a special a la carte menu which you can choose whatever you like. Sneak peak, although the menu is only available for a limited time, it is likely that some of the items will be extended due to their popularity! Yay!

When we first arrived the restaurant, we were wondering why there are bowls in this French restaurant? Then we found that they are actually the traditional bowl-like cup that French people drink cider with, and there are also our favourite light tower salt and pepper jar, what a nice decor on the tables!

There are two different ciders, dry and sweet. They are both very smooth and bubbly, the sweet one is less sweet than usual while the dry one is not bitter at all but with a flavourful fruit taste to it. They are both definitely different from other American sweet apple/pear ciders.

Overall, we enjoyed the meal very much and we are definitely going to come back again for other kind of crepes or galettes and will recommend it to our friends! The price is very affordable, it won't take much to fill you up. The environment is quite cozy with a nice view to the Hong Kong skyline. The service is very thoughtful, it is probably one of the best I had compared to other western restaurants in Hong Kong.

I wasn't a big crepe fan until I went to France one year. There I met up with an French pen pal friend I've known since school when we did letter exchanges who took me to a small yet charming creperie in his tiny town of Clermont Ferrand. It was there I had my first real French galette and my world changed. I was explained to eat a savory then a sweet and all drunk with cider while clinking our bowls and saying santé!

I had come to La Creperie's original Wanchai branch when it first opened with a French ex-pat friend who was all set to say bad things about it (as he seems to really dislike the psuedo French food here) until he bit into his galette and was astounded that it was really good. So, now with their new branch so close to where I live, boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night to try it out.

I remember the first time I came here, I loved the salt and pepper shakers. SO CUTE! The restaurant has maintained the same blue and white nautical theme as their original branch. However, the space here is more spacious than the Wanchai one. The all English menu has expanded since I visited last time. They now have a wider variety of galettes and crepes along with various French bistro style dishes. I noticed they had very affordable lunch sets starting at $98 and a decently priced dinner set for two that gives a good intro to what they serve for those who are unsure what to order for the first time.

Cider ($45/cup). We started our meal with cider as it's traditional to drink cider with a galette. Boyfriend tried dry and I had sweet. I really liked my sweet more than the dry as I like my cider to taste less bitter beer-like. The sweet cider tasted like apples and was possibly one of the best ciders I've had. I noticed they had non-alcoholic cider as well for those that don't drink alcohol. A great option! They also serve them in bowls as this is how I had drunk them in France. Boyfriend joked this was the French version of Mui Kee (the popular Hong Kong restaurant that serves beer in bowls).

Moules Frites ($128). The mussels were small as they were from France as opposed to New Zealand mussels which are bigger in size. The staff informed us they were actually from Brittany. Though small, they were sweeter and fuller in flavor. The simple dish was cooked wonderfullly in white wine and onions. Nothing more. That is how I love my mussels. And there was quite a lot of them.

The mussels came with fries which were thick cut. I think I would have preferred them to be more thinly cut as then they would have been more crunchier but I know more people prefer thick cut fries.

La Canette ($128). Usually when I order a galette, I do like the classic egg, ham and cheese. But as they had a special La French Gourmay menu, we chose La Canette which is emmenthal cheese, duck confit, bell peppers and piment d'Espelette jelly. The galette was made with buckwheat and thus brown in color as opposed to sweet crepes which use wheat. It was perfectly thin and packed with filling. There was enough cheese to make me happy. The duck confit was moist and juicy. But the winner was the piment d'Espelette jelly. I had bought a small jar of this when I was in Paris and I had spread it on all sorts of things so I loved it a lot. The jelly is made from a red pepper from the Basque region called piment d'Espelette. It was sweet and not spicy. It went fantastic with the duck. It also came with a small side of salad that was dressed properly with salad dressing.

La Normande ($78).  Usually, I prefer the simple pear and chocolate crepe, but tonight I chose La Normande as it stewed apples and alcohol. The alcohol they used was Calvados which is an apple brandy from Normandy. I love boozy desserts and this was utterly boozy. They poured the Calvados in front of you while a beautiful blue flame lit up. The crepe was sweet and soft. The apples were beautifully cooked with great cinnamon and spices. I could still taste the brandy while eating it. It was enough to get me drunk. A great dessert to end the evening.

Great evening with wonderful service and fantastic food. It was almost like I was back in that little place in Clermont Ferrand, clinking my cider glass while saying santé and bon appétit. I will definitely be back.
