I have been to this Causeway Bay branch twice already, the high ceiling and western style of decorations are rather attractive. They have hanged some whole prosciutto and preserved garlic at the back, which are the delicious and impressive decorations, the staff said they worth more than 30k!!! Next to the reception and across the bar table, there is a pasta making corner!! If you are lucky, you are able to see and enjoy the freshly made pasta in different shapes. My friends and I have been arranged to the window seats, so we can see the street view from there.

The server has served us the menu right away and give us some recommendations, please note that they do not have complimentary tips from the customers like other restaurants in Hong Kong. Therefore, you can decide your tips based on their services or you can be like a cheapskate, give zero tips to the hardworking servers. Besides that, there are few good-looking foreign staffs here, I am sure any female would be happy to serve by them lol.

The lunch starts with the soup of the day and that day is Pineapple & Parsley Cream Soup. The weird pineapple combination is oddly good, the soup itself tastes a bit similar to mushroom cream soup, then along with a light sweet and sour pineapple taste. The soup is sided with the toasted focaccia, rich buttery and garlic flavors.

We are sharing the dishes, hence we can try and explore more main courses. First come is the healthy Salmon Super Food Salad, it makes use of around 11 ingredients, such as cooked salmon, avocado, beets, fennels, quinoa, pomegranate and few more. As there are lots of beans and grains, not everyone can handle or like the taste of this salad. However, the harissa dressing and cottage cheese can hide that strong beans taste, also there is a hint of spiciness to freshen up and united the whole dish. Rich crunchy textures with the layers of flavor, healthy and delicate.

We are never a healthy person, thus the next dish is the opposite of healthy, Hong Kong Hot. This pizza recipe is tailor made for Hong Kong district only, so I would say is definitely a must-try item here! The chewy and slightly thick pizza crust, topped with tomato sauce, salami, spicy meatballs, pickled chilies and buffalo mozzarella. This pizza is absolutely evil, because it gathers all those fatty and oily, but yet super yummy salami and meatballs. And you will totally fall for its spiciness, that sour and quite spicy pickle chilies are addictive.

Since homemade pasta is one of the signature here, we decided to go for two pasta for sharing, one is Our Famous Prawn Linguine and another one is Truffle Tagliatelle. I am sort of allergic to prawns, so I would prefer the Truffle Tagliatelle over another one. I think the pasta is a bit overcooked, it would be better if the texture to be chewy than soft. Nevertheless, you can smell the truffle sense from far and your taste will be defeated by black truffle.

As have mentioned, we are not the healthy keepers. Hence, the last main course is the appealing Sirloin Steak. The medium rare cooked steak is extremely juicy and you are able to see the pinkish meat after slicing the steak. It is simply seasoning with herbs and butter, then come along with the creamed casserole and skinny fries. There is no doubt that, this would be the guiltiest dish among all. Juicy steak with fries, need no more words to describe.

To end the lunch with couple of sweet treats is a must!! The restaurant makes us a special dessert platter that includes Raspberry Rippled Pavlova, Orange Blossom Polenta Cake, Epic Chocolate Brownie and Blueberry Cheesecake. All these lovable desserts serve on the same wooden platter, they are colourful and stunning like a masterpiece!!

Raspberry Rippled Pavlova: Sweet pavlova and sour berries can never go wrong, the sourness can neutralize the sweetness and balance the dessert. Moreover the pavlova is rather crunchy, not soggy, PERFECTO!

Orange Blossom Polenta Cake: The pound cake has absorbed the sweet honey and syrup, then the bittersweet orange piece can freshen up the whole flavor.

Epic Chocolate Brownie: Thick texture and rich chocolate flavor of brownie is topped with extra chocolate sauce and caramelized popcorns. But caution about sweetness overload!!!

Blueberry Cheesecake: Good texture, yet not much surprise about that.

朱古力布朗尼質感實在不會太甜,朱古力味香濃,正正適合我這個朱古力控。

左 - Raspberry Rippled Pavlova
紅桑子蛋白脆餅,是我們最喜愛的甜品之一!蛋白脆餅甜甜的又脆口,紅桑子帶微酸,兩者酸酸甜甜配合起來有減膩之感。

檸檬味的所以甜品我都愛,所以絕不會放過這個檸檬味芝士餅,比一般芝士餅甜度較低,容易入口。

左 - tiramisu
這款不包括在lunch menu內,是餐廳送我們的,真令人開心!tiramisu的咖啡酒味很香,正適合我這個咖啡控;蛋糕的濕度亦控制得好。

I had Jamie's at home quite regularly and my favourite was the prawn linguine.But this time I went to Jamie's at time square in HK and I had the same dish and I was a little disappointing. A bit too saucy and the pasta was a little under cooked.They were kind enough to replace it but it wasn't quite the same. Perhaps the ingredient was different

I don't normally write reviews, but couldn't help it this time. We had made a booking for 12:30 and when we arrived on time, they had crossed out our booking and made us wait for a new table. The two tables that they put together were both very wobbly, which they stuck cork under to try to stabilise, which still wasn't very good. We ordered olives and two mains. The olives came out pretty quickly and at 1:30 the mains still had not come out. By 1:45 the mains finally came and only a brief sorry

We had been there once before, and took better pictures that time, so I'll discuss the experience for both occasions. I was torn between giving this place an "OK" and a frowny face. I went with the frowny face not because there were mistakes across the board, but because the few of them were unforgivable, and *those* gave me the reason to write this review. 

First, a note about the decor: the second time I went was exactly like the first time, and I mentally made the same exact complaint, "It's too dark in here." Seriously. The neat hodge-podge of old Italian cookware and decorations is really great and to be honest it's one of the few decors I can say I'm impressed by, but it's ruined by consistently bad and underwhelming lighting. I understand the "warm" dark-wood tone it's going for, but other places do it better (for example, La Cabane in SOHO). It *might* just be in my head but the fact that I left with the same feeling twice gives me reason to trust myself, at least on this issue.

When we went the first time, the point was to show my sister who had been visiting a good time, so we ordered everything but the kitchen sink. Multiple appetizers, one main each, or maybe even more. 

Anyway, we started with the $48 "artisan bread basket."

Now I know it's Hong Kong and this ain't Olive Garden, but if you're charging me $48 for a bread basket, there had better be free refills, and it had better be incredible bread. Neither was the case. It was decent, but probably should have been free given the price point of this place. We also ordered two of the artisan pasta dishes to share: the truffle tagliatelle, and the porcini fettuccine. The pasta was okay texture-wise, but I expected to be wowed a bit more. There's fresh pasta and then there's *fresh pasta*. This was fresh pasta. What's more is that the sauce a bit generic, save for the overwhelming truffle flavor. I thought it was a bit excessive, and with the way they laid the truffle out around the pasta, I got the feeling they were more there to make customers feel fancy than to actually improve the flavor of the dish. The porcini pasta was better, since the flavors of the mushrooms came together with the sauce and breadcrumb garnish. Still just okay though.

The mains were a mixed bag. We ordered the beef osso bucco and it was alright. Perhaps I should have known better. I make stews at home myself, and this goopy mess didn't really make the cut. It seemed as if the veggies were kept in the stew for the whole duration of the cooking, instead of replaced and only cooked for an hour or so before serving, as Julia Child taught us. Furthermore, the broth itself was disappointingly watery, and didn't seem "finished" with a flour-butter mix (Julia Child 101, again), or it just wasn't given enough time to reduce. It seems like it's off the menu now though, so that's good anyway.

The chicken: The menu description reads, "Free-range chicken stuffed with prosciutto & fontal cheese, breadcrumbed and topped with a free-range egg & black truffle." Now call me cynical, but what I see here is a bit of pandery tom-foolery. On the one hand, I think the management was just looking for an excuse to throw truffle on the dish, since that makes it fancy. On the other hand, I think they also just wanted an excuse to use the term "free-range" twice. Both of these in the same item is pretty shameless. But that's even before it showed up. What I'm most peeved about with this dish though is the egg on top. Good lord, why? You have a gorgeous chicken over a bed of prosciutto and cheese and some lovely greens. Why on earth would you lazily slap a dumb old fried egg on top? This mistake teeters into unforgivable territory, as the laziness it showcases I think confirms my theory that they just wanted an excuse to say "free-range" twice. The egg is dumb and does nothing to improve the dish. And as you'll notice in the picture, it might as well have come from Park-N-Shop, as it lacks the rich, nearly orange yolk color that properly high-welfare eggs have. Try harder or just give up, please.

No, seriously. Look at it. I want you to *know* how upset this makes me. "Just dump a free-range fried egg on top" is one of the laziest things you could do to my food, and it borders on offensive. At any rate it's inexcusable, and the motivation is pretty transparent.

Finally, my lamb lollipops. These were supposed to be the highlight, but they nearly made me sick with how much fat was on them. They were just *barely* rare enough to not be considered dried out, but I generally prefer my lamb in a sopping, bloody mess. Instead, these were mostly charred clumps of fat. Of course I didn't *have to* eat the fat, but given how dark it was in there I had a hard time cutting around it. Furthermore, against my better judgment, I continued to give the lamb the benefit of the doubt and bite into fatty pieces on the off chance that it wouldn't be *all* fat. Well it wasn't *all* fat, but still far too much for my tastes. The condiments for dipping and garnish made the dish though, and the polenta chips were a nice touch.

(You can still see the egg in this picture. What on earth is it doing there? Poor little guy is probably as confused as i am.)

So that was act 1, and my overall rating would be an OK, but the egg situation, the hype for this place, and the price point (this place is *not* cheap) really made the experience less than worth it.

Act 2 had a similar vibe: some slightly impressive stuff mixed in with some mediocre stuff and one unforgivable mistake. 

The impressive things were primarily the planks. We ordered one classic meat plank, and another seafood plank. The seafood plank I think was most special, since it was the first time I had smoked salmon in Hong Kong and actually enjoyed it. The fish pate and pecorino with chili jam was most memorable, but really I think we enjoyed everything on it. The meat plank was just okay, but that's mostly because I'm the kind of person who will on occasion buy extra fancy Italian meats myself, so I'm expecting to be *impressed* with restaurant quality prosciutto, say. But I wasn't in this case. At any ate, those two planks and the bottle of house wine we got were the most enjoyable part of the evening, which we thought was off to a decent start.

My fiance ordered the margherita pizza (not pictured). It was just okay. I was especially bummed out that the bottom of the pizza was soft-ish. The ingredients were all fine, of course, but to me what really makes or breaks a pizza is the temperature at which it's cooked. The oven and the stone the pizza bakes on needs to be *hot*, like above 400C hot. This struck me as pizza that was not cooked in an optimally hot oven. The pizza, like the pasta, was in this way, "just okay." In both cases, this wouldn't be too much of a problem if the establishment didn't *brand* itself as an Italian joint with separate sections on the menu for pasta and for a list of "beautiful artisan pizza" (Protip: *abandon the word "artisan" forever. It's meaningless at this point.), from which we may select from Jamie's favorites. It shouldn't end up being "just okay," and it especially shouldn't have a soft bottom. 

But, the grand finale, and the *real* reason I won't go back is the burger that I ordered. I don't eat many burgers anymore, and there are about 3 or 4 in Hong Kong that I can typically tolerate (Globe, The Lot come to mind). When I went to Jamie's Italian, I was really expecting to add another one to the list, but good lord was I wrong. First of all, there's only one burger on the menu. This is really disappointing because burgers are typically very customizable food, and given the full swath of high quality ingredients in the kitchen at this place, I was pretty disappointed that they only had enough ingredients to complement a single burger. But I would only have to eat one anyway, so whatever. Again, *this would not be a big deal were in not for the shamelessly self-indulgent branding this place has*. If you'll look at the top of this page at the category this restaurant falls under, you'll see "hamburger" proudly sitting next to "Italian" and "seafood." "Seafood" is accurate. "Italian" might be, but I'm no expert so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. But "hamburger"? One single hamburger on the menu does not a hamburger joint make.

At any rate, I should have instantly known something was wrong when I asked the server to make my burger as rare as the government would allow it. He turned me down. Turned. Me. Down. and said, "oh I'm sorry. The cooking has a franchise standard. We can't make it any differently." Just, what? I should have instantly stopped right there and ordered something else, but again, my trustful nature deceived me. "It'll be great anyway. I'm at Jamie Oliver's restaurant, the hamburger place," I thought. Nope. I got a dried out hockey puck sitting under some lukewarm cheese and overwhelmingly salty pancetta. Oh how sad I was, on my engagement night, to be eating a burger worse than one I could make myself. This dried out little patty was unforgivably tough and chewy as well---by far the biggest disappointment of the night.

End scene.

To be perfectly clear: if it wasn't for the unforgivable mistakes, I would have still just given the restaurant an OK, since that's exactly what it was: OK, especially given the price. The planks, however, are perhaps the only thing we'd return for. Sharing a plank and a bottle of wine is probably the most worthwhile thing to do there, but if that's what you're into, there are other places who do it better (again, La Cabane comes to mind).

Don't buy the hype and the branding. This place is decent at its best, and unforgivably dumb at its worst.

想不到店方安排的仍舊是靠窗卡座,但由於已到晚上,即使有落地玻璃,都未能享受陽光

若在日間,與友人來到如此透光又樓底高的環境,輕鬆小聚一番,應該更加歎

Orange Blossom Polenta Cake $78以粟米麵製作,質感會比較粗糙

蛋糕體紥實,不過算濕潤,帶淡緻粟米香,甜度合宜

另配石榴及醬汁的酸甜果味,雖有不少忌廉,但只添奶潤不膩口,為我們合心意的一款

未算非常細緻,Pavlova甜度自然高,幸得莓果濃郁的果酸去甜膩

蜜糖脆脆相伴,甜得叫自然,略嫌硬韌難嚼,整體味道重濃,以薄荷添清香

Tiramisù $78有過份水濕的感覺,表面的細粉已經結塊,黏感甚重

奶潤感明顯,幸得酒香搭救,不會太烈太嗆,配合甜度,恰到好處

只是看到表面上的橙色細碎嗎?加入酸甜果味後,實在不對我們胃口呢

What an experience at Jamie's Italian!

First things first, all servers and hosts are like a bunch of part time school kids who are ill trained and couldn't explain their own menu. Our raised hands and requests fell on deaf ears or blind eyes half of the time; and if at last we were being acknowledged, most of them would only mumble, and with the backdrop of loud music playing, we could almost never make out what they said without 2-3 takes every time. At one point we were sitting there staring at our food for a good 10 minutes because a server, at our request, took our sharing plates to change for clean ones, had forgotten all about us, and then nobody was free to take care of us.

Food - the crab starter came with a pathetic portion of crab legs with mushy meat, of which the staleness was allegedly intended to be covered by the overwhelmingly spicy chilli and sour tomato sauce. Their "famous prawn linguine" came with some overly marinated bland and "crunchy" shrimps, again supplemented the heavily spiced sauce (good try, but no it didn't work!), the pasta was overdone and was too soft to be claimed "Italian". The pork chop, for which the order was placed at the same time as everything else, came 20 minutes after everything was finished on the table, was the only ok dish of the night.

No wonder half of the place was empty on a Saturday night. Last time for me, surely!

聽過好多次,又話大排長龍咁....適逄放假就帶老婆試試,去到可能已經13:35 過左Lunch 多人時段。只有70%人客,所以我地唔洗等...但反而要等一陣是佢地侍應人數不太多下要等佢執枱...坐底後又要等佢比水...似乎侍應不太足夠。咁我地點左兩個餐(黑松露意粉$128 & 西冷牛扒$148),選一個湯 & 一個沙律。沙律賣相就真係青綠,味道好清新。反而個湯就好唔錯....不過問題就黎,我個西冷賣相可以但7成熟好似食香口膠咁....意粉不錯,但份量實太少...一位女仔食都唔夠反而牛扒的菜薯條就好好食....所以話配菜,前菜唔錯, 但主菜就好一般。如以此價錢衡量更可算是不太值...

放工過來晚餐,上到去裝修好靚環境好舒服,枱與枱之間有足夠空間,唔怕傾計太大聲嘈到隔離,同同事朋友食飯飲野吹水一流~!食物方面我地叫左個沙律,小食,pizza,大蝦意粉,甜品(brownie,不過唔記得影相)。沙律、小食、甜品都好好味,而pizza同意粉就非常一般。下次會再來!

DrinkVery sweet. Good if you like sweet drink. SaladDelicious, gorgeous, sumptuous smoked salmon. Not the regular ones from supermarket. Roasted veggies are on point. PastaHuge disappointment. Bland sauce and amount of pasta is out of proportion. Prawn is not fresh and need some serious seasonings.Atmosphere is nice, ambient lighting and smooth music. Price is around 200 per dish. Food quality needs improvement. Fit for a casual dine out with friends and family.

Pasta was starchy and not well cooked. Service was even worse. We asked for a dish for sharing the desserts and the staff said they have run out of plates. We asked another one who said she will see what she can do, but never came back. It was the third person who finally got us a plate, but by that time the dessert (ice cream) had melted. They seem to be understaffed as the staff look really annoyed when you tried to reach them for assistance. Will never go again. There are some good choices ou
