This was our 1st visit there. Before going, i'd prepared myself the service wasn't good from reading the bad comments here. Perhaps, no expectation with turning out surprises, hubby and i reckon the waiters were actually quite attentive esp. i was given a cushion when the usher noticed am pregnant. About the food, both of us ordered clam chowder for appetizer, followed by a sirloin beef for my hubby and roast spring chicken for myself. Wow, the clam chowder was so thick and creamy that made me half full. If you just care about with having some soups before meal, the soup was ok with full of bacon & onion taste. Though, you'll be disappointed if you were looking for real taste of "clam" as it didn't even hv a little clam meat inside.
The whole meal which may drive me to come back is the chicken. It was succulent and served in tomato & basil sauce. I would recommend it since it is their signature dish anyway. But, the beef...oh, it was ok coming with medium, though a tendon just across the whole thing and my hubby basically needed to cut along the tendon. The taste did not impress at all, we surely will not pick the same in the next visit.
Last...the dessert, no need to mention, a lime sorbet served with sort of panna cotta tart. I just finished a little scoop of sorbet but stopped after a spoonful of tart as the taste was terrible. Being a sweet mouth like me, i rarely put down my spoon after the 1st sip on any dessert. Damn, i think i'd prefer they serve me one more cookie came with coffee.
Overall, you can pay less than 300 for a better taste lunch at elsewhere in Central, but counting the renown of Harlan, place, view, quantity (the buffet appetizer), it's worthwhile to give it a try for a relaxing & casual lunch but definitely not for secret talk as the place is too noisy.
