Came here for dinner, with a reservation. Wasn't hungry so only ordered a few things.Food: Crab bisque with crabmeat salad: Just okay, the crab bisque was very flavorful with chunks of crab and 2 small ravioli inside; paired with a slice of toast. The bisque had this very seafoody taste, not sure how to precisely describe it, but its very distinct and it didn't appeal to my tastebuds, however my friend enjoyed it a lot. Came here for dinner, with a reservation. Wasn't hungry so only ordered a few things.

Food:
Crab bisque with crabmeat salad: Just okay, the crab bisque was very flavorful with chunks of crab and 2 small ravioli inside; paired with a slice of toast. The bisque had this very seafoody taste, not sure how to precisely describe it, but its very distinct and it didn't appeal to my tastebuds, however my friend enjoyed it a lot. The crabmeat salad was nicely presented inside the shell of a small crab and tasted very tropical - with strong parsley taste (reminded me of Thai food).

Lamb back with beans: This was the special for the day, apparently its from the meat on the back of the lamb. It came beautifully presented, although a much smaller portion than I expected. However I soon came to realise at the end that it was the perfect portion. The lamb cut was a medallion, with the layer of the fatty skin around the actual meat. I enjoyed the meat part and cut off the fatty skin. Also, there was this tomatoe puree/paste on top of the meat. For pairing, there were kidney and other beans scattered all around the plate with this very middle eastern tasty sauce. The flavors were very distinct compared to the meat and the beans, but both paired well together. However, by the end of the meal, the food was hard to finish because the flavors were too intense.

Trout with mashed potatoes: This also came beautifully presented, little slices of trout would be curled up into separate pieces circling the center of the plate. My friend enjoyed it a lot as well. I had a piece and found the meat was cooked perfectly - slightly pink in the middle - just the right texture!

The sourdough bread that came with a yogurt dip was especially good. It came warm and went so well with the yogurt. Also at the end of the meal, we didn't order dessert, but there was complimentary chocolates! Like morsels of both milk and dark chocolate with a flat sweet pastry slice as well. The dark and the pastry were both yum.

Service: The waiters knew their menu - which is what I would expect from a fine dine place. They knew exactly what was in each dish, what to recommend for meat lovers vs. seafood lovers, etc. However, we didn't get our bread until asking 2 waiters for it.... I got a bit frustrated on this since we had our appetizer already and the bread came after that.... To their credit other tables got their bread once they got seated looking at their menus - so it seemed like us not getting our bread was just a slip-up (apparently by the busboy who delivers it).

Decor: Was initially very pleased with the decor, especially the corridor leading into the restaurant from the UH hotel. The seating is very low to the floor, and the windows surrounding the dining area is only standing length exposed, hence the low seating. I believe it is due to structural issues that the upper half of the window area is blocked off. Very high ceilings, accentuating the low seating. There are booths and big tables tucked away in their own areas, but also normal tables scattered in the dining area. Not sure what the reason was, but it was noisy! The decor/layout of the place didn't absorb the noise well - so I couldn't feel the intimate low-key fine dining atmosphere. Also there is a bar/lounge area on the other side of the restaurant that plays music, so that didn't help - although it did sound/look fun to be there. Also must note that the restrooms are fantastic, like the ones they have in Felix - where you get a view outside...however the outside view is just Pacific Place/Admiralty area, but it is still nice to have all window walls.

Sizing it up: It was only an average experience for me. I must say though that the food presentation is amazing and the flavors of every dish came through. The bread mishap and noise turned me off slightly.

Holiday Brunch, didn't try lots of stuff, the food we had was OK, not particularly impressive.However, despite misty and bad weather, the view was really impressive!

I purposely booked the restaurant for my fiancé birthday a week in advance, requested for window seat and a desert with candle, which are all recommended by the reception during the first time I called in. The lady called me for table confirmation and I repeatedly reminded her for my special request, she answered “OK”.

We arrived the restaurant with a table arranged in the middle of restaurant, which wasn’t the window seat, so I repeated again my request. The reception sent us to the bar for a drink while they’re setting up the other table for us. We have been waiting for more than 20mins. Finally a very narrow window seat table for 2 is arranged.

Food was good, everything was fine until they served us the desert menu. I gave out hint to the server, “should there be SOMETHING coming in?” the server blink at me and said OK, then she walked away. After 20mins, they took away the desert menu, so I expected my surprise arrangement should be coming in soon. I saw a cake with a candle bringing forward, but to the table next to us with 2 foreigners.


The worst is, the server gave us the bill right after. WTF !!!!


I explained the whole situation to the server, she was shocked and stoned. I requested to meet the manager, then finally he came.

Mr. Ali Ahmadi, the maitre’d hotel, apologized for the arrangement; however, his attitude and reaction didn’t show his full sincere to us. I even had to convince him in improving the staff quality and service, but he just smile and that’s it. Whatever I said is no meaning to them since they don't give a sh*T !


So, what should I do on my fiancé birthday? I remained calm and paid the bill.

If they really consider us / clients are the most important, if they really feel sorry and try to make it up, they should have walk us out the door instead. But sorry, no one but only us walking out by ourselves with the very nice deco corridor.


Even starbucks / mcDonald’s / cafe decarol have better service than this “café gray deluxe”.

To be honest, they don't even have the basic concepts on F&B servicing standard.

It was a Saturday afternoon and the dining room was already packed with people when we arrived. At first glance, we were a bit disappointed with the small table they have reserved for us. There was absolutely no privacy there having been sandwiched by two groups of people. We let our server know and they were very accommodating in putting us at a different corner with a much bigger table (Scoring some points there).

Our server then carefully went through the menu with us, giving us some recommendations. That was very much appreciated but of course being here for the second time, we already had some ideas what we would be ordering.

Roasted quail with red beet salad
This is an encore of a dish ordered last time. The quail was a bit overcooked last time but no problem this time around. The quail was roasted to perfection and the seasoning was very appropriate.

Tiger prawn salad
I was expecting something along the line of a caesar salad with a couple of prawns on top. So when I saw this dish arriving on our table, it almost knocked me right off my chair. Superb presentation and it tasted even better than it looked.

Grilled sea trout
This dish was probably the 'lowest-scoring' one out of the four. We were expecting the sea trout to have a bit more fat content but this sea trout fillet was very dry and lacked the fresh taste of a sea fish.

Roasted chicken in curry sauce
My dad always tells me nothing beats a nice chinese dish made of fresh free-range chicken and I tend to agree. Now I am having second thoughts. The roasted chicken was surprisingly tender and juicy, which came unexpected from a frozen poultry.

The only blemish of the lunch came from a party of 3 sitting very close to you, who were speaking very loudly over the course of the entire lunch. Other than that, we have enjoyed our time there very much. Dessert was nothing to write home about but that's okay. We had our stomach full already and the service and ambience were unbeatable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, who's into fine or casual dining.

先試試餐前麵包,麵包本身柔軟,內含有些穀粒,令口感更特別,值得一提是店方以 Yogurt 代替黑醋,加上橄欖油後,效果出奇的好吃,最後不自覺地竟吃了半籃包。

女友的頭盤是 Saffron Pasta Fiore,若要形容就是番茄蓉拌闊麵,簡單卻帶精緻,番茄蓉味道鮮甜,據說足足煮了三小時,難怪有如斯水準,闊麵則做得夠薄身,入口滑溜。面頭的麵包條不是裝飾物咁簡單,內裡也混有一些番茄醬,心思十足。

由於我的主菜是 Braised Short Rib of Beef,為免口味重複,唯有放棄以 Tartar 作頭盤,想吃一些綠色的東西,Caesar Salad 正合我意。本身對 Caesar Salad 沒有太多幻想空間,反正每家餐廳的出品也是大同小異,想不到 Café Gray Deluxe 再次給我一個驚喜。羅馬生菜竟然「成棵上」,入口當然新鮮爽脆,醬汁味道調較得相當濃郁,開胃非常,是出色的作品。

主菜方面,女友選擇了 Lavendar Grilled Red Snapper,紅鯛魚的肉質不算滑溜,魚上灑上麵包糠碎粒,令口感變得特別,吃時沾些刁草海鮮湯汁,味道清甜,提升了整道菜的整體分數,更特別的還有那芹菜蓉,質感滑溜無比,散發出芹菜的清香,大廚功架盡顯。

Braised Short Rib of Beef 是餐廳的推介菜式,據說牛肋骨肉炆了三日三夜,雪凍後再去骨,故肉質軟腍非常,幾近入口即溶,同時亦能保持牛的原味,這個「紅酒炆牛尾」的變相加強版,非常出色。不容錯過的還有那幾經調較的芥末子汁,汁醬上附有一些粟米蓉,味道濃郁卻不失鮮甜,令人動心,絕對值得一試。

我的 cocktail 是 Deluxe Mojito,主要是 Passionfruit、Lime 及 Mint 的組合,故味道相當清新,而 Hong Kong Highball 簡直是為女友而設的,成份包括了 Rapsberry Vodka、Champagne,Honey、Lemon、Canton Ginger,相信愛莓的她一定喜歡。

Lunch Hour 接近尾聲,是時候回公司工作,未能一試甜品,是小小的遺憾,唯有轉化成再來的動力,希望新年逗多些利是幫補下啦!

今天想與女友吃好一點,遂訂了位在此午膳,這餐廳環境可真的一流,位於開業不久的型格酒店Upper House的頂層,完全是飽覽維多利亞港的景致,而且被安排坐於窗口的位置,邊看着這個景色吃午飯,真的會特別開胃。坐好後,侍應問我們要Sparking or Still Water,由於今天天氣挺涼,所以也想喝杯暖水,正當我想開口之際,店員已經主動說出這個選擇,說因為天氣冷云云,真的是非常貼心的服務,然後就端來一客麵包籃及忌廉醬,也為我們送上餐牌。A la carte有不少的選擇,而Lunch Menu就主要分3 courses及2 courses兩個價錢,前者收三百四十五,後者則是二百八十五,以此地段及廚師的背景來說,這個索價非常合理,心想既來了,吃一頓好的,又怎可不吃甜品呢,就決定點兩個3 courses,而在頭盤中,三個選擇中剔除了萵苣芹菜蘋果沙律伴藍芝士,皆因我是一名食肉獸也,另外主菜則剔除了露絲瑪莉百里香燒雞,因為三個主菜中,有兩個是禽類,另一個是魚類,最後只好選擇放棄其中一個禽類,看來也是挺合理的,而最後的甜品只有兩款選擇,不用煩惱了。先吃麵包籃內的麵包,焗得不算很熱,但包身也是有微

先吃麵包籃內的麵包,焗得不算很熱,但包身也是有微溫而鬆軟,包的外皮很脆口,夾雜一點罌粟籽,吃起來也有不錯的麵包香的,另薄薄的塗上一層忌廉醬,由於忌廉醬中加入一點橄欖油,混一點來均勻的塗上麵包,除了有忌廉的香滑之外,也有橄欖油的香味,是一個很不錯的開始,而店員也主動問我們需要添加嗎?好吃是好吃,但也要留肚吃主菜,所以也婉拒了店員的好意。

我倆點的頭盤隔了大概十分鐘吧,就端給我們享用了,她的是帶子大蝦西洋菜忌廉湯,而我的是蕃茄醬燻火腿意大利雲吞,當然大家也會互換來品嚐對方的食物,在此先談帶子大蝦西洋菜忌廉湯,其賣相真的挺特別,以一個喇叭形的小碗盛着一條蘿勒、帶子及大蝦數粒,而忌廉湯則以一不銹鋼的茶壺盛着,倒到碗內後再享用,那碗的容量剛好讓茶壺內的湯倒光,喝下一口,忌廉湯果然很滑而很有忌廉香,但又不會稠得令人感覺很漏滯,西洋菜的味道不明顯,反之如靠近那條蘿勒吸一口湯,味道就更加清新芳香,加上那非常嫩口的帶子及爽口得無話可說的大蝦,真的是一個非常好的開始。

我要的那個蕃茄醬燻火腿意大利雲吞,份量小小的,在三粒意大利雲吞,雲吞上數片薄薄的刨出來的芝士、煙燻五香火腿及伴有鼠尾草的稀蕃茄醬,稀蕃茄醬除了有着鼠尾草的香味之外,又有忌廉的香滑油,又有橄欖油的油潤,吃起來很Creamy很有油香,配合帶了點點酸味的鮮蕃茄醬,又配合五香火腿及芝士的雙重鹹香,光是那汁又是非常的棒,配菜還有又紅又黃煮至軟腍的蕃茄仔,軟腍而吸飽了美味的醬汁,又是好吃,有着那醬汁來配合意大利雲吞來吃,一口咬下,內部全都是磨成細碎粒粒的Ricotta Cheese,香軟細滑,皮也是厚薄適中,當然不會如港式雲吞般薄,但根本不能如此比較,其整體就真的非常好。

吃過了美味的頭盤,心內更是期待主菜的蒞臨,先來的是較濃味的豆燜鴨肉,鴨肉主要分成了兩款,一款是以鴨肉封在鴨油中的油封鴨,而另一款的是經湯煨燉過的鴨腿,加上面層兩片鴨皮,及底下大量經過炆煮的法國菜豆,然後再在面層撤上開心果碎加麵包碎,開心果碎是綠色不稀奇,但麵包碎也是綠色的,可能是用上菠菜或西洋菜等深色的菜榨了汁,再用來做麵包吧,面層的鴨皮香脆而很有油香,有點吃脆枝燒鵝的鵝皮一樣,鴨皮的底部藏有大量的脂肪,也沒辦法,真的是撇掉才能吃,但全不影響鴨皮的豐腴感;經湯煨燉過的鴨腿肉還挺有咬口,吸盡了鴨湯的精華,鹹香肉鮮其藏於鴨肉內,至於那油封鴨,鴨肉已被浸至軟爛,不會嚡口而又非常之有肉香味,同場敬送兩條如臘腸的東西,也是甘香脂味;最後墊在底部的法國菜豆也非常精彩,吸收了一流的鴨湯,肉汁與豆粉粉的隙縫之中混在一起入口,簡直就讓法國菜豆吸盡了精華,美味得很,如果豆身可以再煮腍一點會是完美。

另外一個主菜是蒸的麒麟魚,蒸過後的湯汁全都在碗底,基座墊有娃娃菜,而魚塊表面塗有不少的香辣醬,看起來賣相又是很不錯,而吃又如何呢?也真的是第一次吃麒麟魚,此美麗的魚,原來蒸來吃也是肉質嫩滑而緊緻,連魚皮吃也是一點兒也不腥,可能是廚師伴來湯的功勞吧,用上了甜香的豉油為基,佐以薑來辟味,加上面層那香辣醬,吃起來是有一份甜香而又有丁點辣味的刺激,所謂的刺激也源自那魚皮面層的香辣醬吧,該醬用上海鮮醬加搓爛了的Plum,另外加點辣椒碎及油即成,怪不得在香辣刺激當中,多了一份生果的甜美,這個感覺很像東南亞菜,而又湯很是清甜,有點豉油香,加上一條煮得很是軟腍的娃娃菜,吸盡了這個湯汁,不期然讓我想起了我們的滬菜,很有亞洲菜式的風味。

綜合以上的食物,那廚師處理湯汁的功夫真的一流,頭盤及主菜四款的醬汁或湯也是各有特式,但就全都有一個共通點,就是濃香清鮮而絕不肥膩,真的迎合現時吃得健康的新趨勢。

最後當然就是要以吃甜作結,先介紹pavlova 鮮奶油蛋白霜,用上了山莓果醬及雜莓粒跟來吃,雜莓粒有不少的藍莓、士多啤梨及山莓,全都很新鮮好吃,但部的藍莓吃起來竟然還有椗,以一所高級餐廳來說,是未夠細心的表現,而莓醬也只是流於外來貨,吃起來就如外邊吃到的藥水味,有時也沒可能要求店家什麼也能不假外求,但選貨也要選好一點的嘛!而重點的鮮奶油蛋白霜也好不了到那裡,本應是外脆內軟的pavlova吃起來是很脆,是脆得很硬的程度,由外到內也是這個質感,加上甜得吃不出任何蛋白味,此甜品真的不敢恭維。

另一款堤甜點是Baba Au Rum,按道理的是以一個小型圓身的蛋糕,配合浸了點酒的鮮果及帶點酒的糖醬,今天用的生果是菠蘿及切得細細粒的哈密瓜,波了糖水的生果果然很甜,但就感覺不到什麼酒香,而那小蛋糕吃起來就如一個甜甜圈,所以浸在糖水裡,感覺有如吃發水麵包,吃起來不再軟綿,而糖水也如之前所說,一點酒味也沒有,這個甜點,又是不太行。

經過了失望的甜點,就來杯咖啡作結,先來快速的品嚐我的Double Espresso,嗅了一下,不太香也算了,再摸一摸杯身,咖啡很明顯唔夠熱,至於Crema的份量合格,但喝起來不夠潤滑,喝入口就只有單調平面的咖啡苦澀味,沒有咖啡應有多源複雜的香味,醇厚度不足,酸味不多,沒有任何的果香可言,相信是用上了意式重度烘焙的結果,但綜合以上,也可知這個Shot Pull得不太行。

另一杯點了Caffe Latte,由於也是用上剛才的Espresso Base,喝起來味道又是那種單源的澀味,但由於有了奶的中和,味道方面是好了點,但店家用的維記牛奶始乎又致使咖啡的奶香不太足,究竟是否維記的問題呢?有可能是奶泡打得太熱了吧,咖啡很明顯的是比剛才的Espresso熱很多,而且泡身很不夠滑而且很薄,只得表層如Monolayer的泡,泡再細再少也不太行。

甜品咖啡也不大滿意,今餐真的有點虎頭蛇尾,幸而店家壓尾送過來的巧克力粒及糖霜酥皮也好吃,酥皮夠肥夠酥香,加上點糖霜的甜,而巧克力也算香濃,個人還是較為欣賞黑巧克力的那一款,但其實相信最多也只不過是五十巴仙左右的濃度,但對我來說,已經是比之前的甜品受用不知多少倍。

整頓飯大概吃了兩小時,以三個Course來說是慢了丁點,但既然風景那麼美,在這個假期前夕與她慢慢的享受一頓飯,又確是很不錯,雖然甜點及餐飲方面是失色了一點,但總體來說仍是非常滿意,所以也以它作為我第七個百篇食評,希望和女友以後也可記住美好的飲食經驗。

Sour dough is the only kind of bread. Bread Dip is yogurt with olive oil, very refresh. If I were elder , I don't think my teeth is strong enough to bite.

Good impression was disappeared when dinning began. We finished the bread dip so fast (we are yogurt 's fans) but no one observed it. The server whose have tan look never asked us need to refill or not.

First course : Steak Tartar & Crab Bisque
Steak Tartar was yummy ! Crab Bisque was rich and hot enough.

It's have a unique aroma. I asked the server but seems she was not so sure about it.

Main course : Lobster Bolognese & Steak
Lobster Bolognese was disappointed. It's seems don't have whole Lobster inside...mash with bolognese sauce was not tasty as I though.
As we sitting down till finished, server who in charge our section seems not professional at all. she should be fulfill our requirements unfortunately SHE IS NOT.
I wonder that she able to chat with others, why she don't paid more attention on customers?

Services is not just smiling. It's MUST included knowledge and experienced.
Yes, she have a lovely smile. Yes, her grooming is perfect.

Although we acutally NEED a experience server.

Bumped into a China Lady in the ladies' and started sharing feelings about the night of the pearls in the East just from looking out from the view in the Ladies' room. She was a kind of cute. But, can tell people were enjoying the atmosphere and having fun.
I was with two very good friends of mine. Excited for this exploring to a new place for food.
The feelings this time at night was a completely different from under the sun. It was filled with sound, ( I was thinking of using the word of "music", but I do not.)as it was too loud that I got sore throat after the dinner. As we needed to speak loud.
Waiters & waitresses were tight with expression. Nervous. "Come on babe. Relax! We won't bit. We are here to enjoy!"
We had some excited and un-expected entries to start with.

Crab Bisque - Thick, tasty! Kind of sweet. Tasted exotic.
The prawn with a small cup of rice
- Wow! It looked like a main dish to us. But, would be better if it was a sashimi.
Quail - laid on a reddish and raspberry sauce. Tender.
We had:
Red Snapper - Sprinkled on top was some fried garlic. Very fusion taste of Chinese. Laid on some chowder broth.
Bidentata - Not sure if this is the word. Wrong choice
. My friends wanted some steaks. Never mind! We could have asked.
Everything was sweet. The taste overshadowed on top of the original.
We also had some side dishes, i.e. Creamy spinach and veg. Not bad either!
Deserts:
Cream Bur-lee - Ok ...
Floating Island - Ok....

We did not order coffee this evening. Sorry!
We do not drink wine.
So, after all the cost of the Dinner was still something we think fine.
Complimentary with their chocolate again.
Still worth trying.
But, I can only give an OK this time. They should control better on the atmosphere, too.

講服務態度...簡直係***差***!!

有一位waitress長期皺著眉頭的...拎個tea tower黎時我喺度影緊相,佢個樣係極不耐煩,直情覺得我阻住佢咁0既樣!!!
之後我搵左另一個waiter幫我同媽咪影左合照...通常d人影完都會禮貎上問"你睇下o唔ok"之類,佢冇啦,影完就咁俾返部機我. 我睇左張相直情係呆左...唔洗咁求其gwa?!!!
食完之後我問個waitress有冇drink menu,佢話"有! 不過tea set淨係包咖啡茶架咋喎!!"...我又呆左...我心諗: 下...睇下有咩茶都得gwa?! 咁唯有問佢有咩茶,今次到佢呆左,然後話"你想要咩茶丫?" 下...咁是但啦,我要camomile tea. 轉頭另一個waitress走黎話冇camomile tea...咁又是但啦...我都已經食到好想走!! 我要earl grey,唔會冇喇gwa!!
waitress放低杯野飲時直情係茶餐廳feel!!! (成杯野"dun"落枱面,仲有溢左少少喺杯邊果種!!)
earl grey是茶包的...非常冇嘆茶的感覺....


順帶一提,我打電話訂位時,佢問我拎email話要send個confirmation比我.
隔左幾日收到email,話要比低credit card資料做deposit!!
果一下都幾呆...
我都明白好多酒店喺特別日子要收deposit,我都絕對唔介意俾,但係點解訂位時唔講呢?!!!!!

最值得讚係個洗手間囉~真係幾靚~

很掃興的生日tea...我已經blacklist左呢間野!!!!

今個週末沒有甚麼預定的節目,決定去試試新餐廳,選擇了這間位於金鐘新開酒店的頂樓。說是新酒店,其實是由太古集團在金鐘J.W.Marriott酒店最頂幾層的服務式住宅變身而成的,The Upper House (還有中文名叫"奕居") 只是開業幾個月。新酒店的大堂位處萬豪酒店旁,設計頗為簡單,只是兩面大玻璃,大堂不似一般五星級大酒店,可能因為酒店只得117間房間,雖然客人不多,但大堂的接侍人員都醒目有禮,我倆一踏進酒店,在接侍處的西人已經對我們說聲"Good Afternoon"。大堂旁是兩部長長的電梯,暗暗的燈光帶你上到升降機大堂,升降機內裝修雖然簡單,白色為主,但有一玻璃箱裝著一件陶瓷擺設,頗為特別。一瞬間便到達頂層49 樓,轉右行過一條長長的走廊就是餐廳所在位置,高高的樓底還引進了自然光線,充滿陽光氣息。餐廳由得獎名廚Gray Kunz主理,以前曾主理麗晶酒店的餐廳,風格具亞洲及法國fusion菜,我倆亦被這點所吸引。接侍處已經企有兩位靚女知客,知道我倆未有訂位後即時帶我們入座一張四人枱,這張枱有三分一圓的卡位加兩張櫈,sofa還有一條長cushion給客人,感覺頗舒適 ; 途中經過

接侍處已經企有兩位靚女知客,知道我倆未有訂位後即時帶我們入座一張四人枱,這張枱有三分一圓的卡位加兩張櫈,sofa還有一條長cushion給客人,感覺頗舒適 ; 途中經過位於用餐區右邊的酒吧,酒量頗齊,除咗吧枱外,三五知己還可以選擇坐在窗邊,遠望著維多利亞港的景色。左面是open kitchen,可以望到幾位廚師為你烹調食物。

用餐區氣派一流,地方不算太大,只容得下十幾張枱,而且枱與枱之間的空間有限,私隱度略少 ; 有幾張像我們坐著的1/3圓卡位,近窗的坐位都以卡坐設計,樓底足兩層樓有多,但不是採用全塊落地大玻璃,真正望到出外的有不到2米的高度,出面雖然陽光猛烈,但不會導致太多陽光直接射入餐廳,影響客人。

洗手間亦值得一遊,事關寬敞的空間是必然的,但洗手盆及面鏡旁是差不多落地成九十度角的兩塊大玻璃,令你可以俯瞰這個金鐘及灣仔區。

枱面的佈置亦很講究,深色木枱上面舖上皮革代替一般紙或布,餐具最特別算是麵包刀,不用時是直立式的,雖然美觀創新,但不方便使用。

及後即由一位男侍應serve我們,遞上今日的Lunch menu,menu分為左右兩邊,左邊是lunch set,右面是a la carte,一目了言,單叫不是很多菜式,由頭盤至甜品大部份都是一至二百多元的選擇,價錢合理。我倆選擇了三道菜 lunch set$345,還有兩道菜$285可供選擇,頭盤及主菜可以三選一,最後的甜品二選一,再有朱古力,咖啡, Expresso或茶。

Lunch Set:

1. BREAD - 未開始點菜已率先上枱,器皿左邊是麵包,右邊是醬料,幾塊麵包用紙盒盛載著頗別緻,麵包是用上有穀包,厚厚的外層比一般歐洲麵包為脆,入面頗軟身的 ; 這裡改用酸忌廉代替黑醋,中間放有橄欖油及香草,感覺不會像意大利般酸,而且方便食用,相信是fusion菜的關係,不錯的創新要素。

2. OXTAIL - RICOTTA RAVIOLIS in Cream of artichokes and basil - 兩大隻用牛尾肉所包的意大利雲吞,雲吞皮薄薄的,內裡放滿嫰滑而味濃的牛尾肉碎,底部放有許多切成粒狀的薯仔,配有用香草煮成的忌廉汁(頗杰但好 creamy),再舖上幾塊芝士,味道香咁濃郁,唯獨是份量略少。

3. HERB AND MACHE SALAD, QUAIL EGG AND SALMON ROE w/ Sauce ravigote - 碟中間用上一條薄薄的青瓜片,包圍一堆mache leafs,法國的一種蔬菜,質地類似菠菜般軟身,再有切片的細小洋蔥粒,底部有一隻半生熟的鵪鶉蛋,加上蛋黃後伴吃會再滑一點。不過,沙律精髓在於醬汁 - sauce ravigote,帶濃烈酸味及香草味,加上幾粒三文魚籽,外面很難有機會品嚐。

4. GRILLED SEA BASS AND PRAWN w/ Mashed potatoes, tomato coulis - 煎薄薄的一片鱸魚連皮,魚皮帶有少量魚油,非常香滑,上面放上香草碎加醃過的車厘茄,蕃茄是剝了皮的,再有一隻煎香了的爽滑蝦仁在頂,最底舖上一層薯蓉,是撈上適量的牛油,但有香而不膩的感覺,醬汁是tomato colulis+橄欖油,帶有香甜的蕃茄味,不同一般海鮮菜式用上濃濃的蕃茄醬,搶奪了原有海鮮的味道,配合得天衣無縫。

5. COQ AU VIN w/ Pearl onions and bacon, spatzli, pinot noir - 這道紅酒燴雞用上三片雞肉,上面那片雞肶肉連皮輕輕拉過油,炸脆了薄薄的一層皮,下面的兩件雞胸肉被紅酒汁浸著,雖然是用雞胸肉,但仍保持鮮嫰 ; 紅酒汁是用Pinot Noir作材料,我認為揀選這種酒是上佳之選,因它富有豐富的香味,而且單寧偏低,廚師果然別出心裁,把紅酒汁收乾了水,類似中式炆雞的方法,完全將紅酒味濃縮在一起,香甜無比。雖然有濃濃的醬汁,但亦加有大量煮過的雪梨粒,酸酸甜甜,平衡醬汁的味道。

這三件雞同一時間可以品嚐兩種食法,烹調方法有東方、有西方,中西合璧。碘粉質不是一般的意粉或飯,而是另類的一碗spatzli,用麵粉造成的麵粉花似的,再沾有蛋槳煎成粒狀之餘,方便食用,還有少許彈性,一來令你有飽肚的感覺,亦可以讓你單獨品嚐醬汁的味道,果然一絶。

6. A SIMPLE APPLE COMPOTE w/ Cinnamon and spices - 終來到期待的甜品,首先是古英式甜品,用糖槳煮鮮果,今次主角是蘋果,雖然我的蜜糖兒不甚喜歡蘋果的味道,但她品嚐第一口之後,亦急不及侍叫我試試,糖水裡用上磨碎的肉桂,此處的優勝之處在於廚師能將蘋果煮得半熟,外面軟棉棉但內裡仍然保持咬口,不似其他地方煮得過淋,全無口感可言。

上面再有一球香草雪糕 (Vanilla),一熱一冷,一甜一酸 (微酸),這種微妙的感覺再次出現,伴碟再有一條肉桂的穀及一片風乾了的青蘋果幼片,同時為視覺味覺帶來享受。

7. CHOCOLATE - CHOCOLATE MOUSSE w/ Mandarin - orange jam - 用大大的玻璃杯裝著上枱,賣相已經非常吸引,用黑、白朱古力條做裝飾,先在chocolate mousse上面放有一羹鮮忌廉,一入口已經香滑無比,幼滑如絲,本人從來未有機會品嚐這種質素的鮮忌廉,再來一口chocolate mousse,恰到好處的甜,同樣的絲質感覺,在口中感受著,當品嚐了好幾口之後,開始感覺到有膩的感覺之時,原來底部有一層鮮橙果醬,加有橙皮絲,完全中和了甜到膩的感覺,而且上面還有刨碎了的牛奶朱古力及白朱古力,令到每一口都可以品嚐mousse之餘,憑著碎朱古力再將口感及朱古力味提昇,我敢說這裡的出品可與文華東方齊名,甚至超越了........

8. CHUNKS OF CHOCOLATE - 吃了之前的chocolate mousse,已經知道甜品師傅的功架,朱古力塊未食都對它信心十足,有種味道,milk chocolate and dark chocolate,中間再一片酥皮,雖薄但脆,又不會一碰就碎,上面有糖霜,連這點都做得一絲不拘,值得佩服。

9. CAPPUCCINO AND LEMON TEA - 咖啡除一般普通咖啡外,還有Cappuccino及Expresso可供選擇,我就選了一杯cappuccino,味道不甚麼特別,但算是中規中矩。檸檬茶基本上同酒店餐廳水準差不多,不過見只是用一般茶包,但茶味足夠。

Comments: 每位侍應都時刻保持笑容,而且健談,雖然未必會位都可用廣東話溝通,但亦相當細心及醒目。知道我們曾經想試晚餐,但他們每個週末都fully booked,侍應告知現時大部份週末晚booking已去到二月了,不過雖然我地沒有繼續問,但佢亦即時幫我地check咗星期日晚上仍然有位,服務體貼。

雖然頭盤份量較輕盈,但主菜份量適中,令你不會太飽之餘開始品嚐份量十足的甜品,整體份量可以話係非常滿足,悠揚的週末能夠享受如此佳餚,真是人生一大樂事。

這裡的fusion菜,真是令我上了充實的一課,因用料非常講究,非一般地方可以品嚐,每一道菜都充滿驚喜,創意十足,用料上乘,烹調技術到家,雖然要用上接近四百元吃一道午餐,但不是浪得虛名,完全值回票價,好....現在應該是計劃何時去試他們的晚膳。

Thanks for my dear to bring me to this eatery - new view, chic decor, quite good food and service We both had the sets of 2 main courses. My dear had the Avocado Salad and Coq au Vin; while I had the curried cream with cauliflower and Roasted Beef. Plus, tea/coffee and chocolate chunks. While we had 2 loafs of sourdough. All the dishes came with nice presentation. The salad was a nice cabbage stand on the avocado. My dear claimed that the balsamic vinegar was yummy. I had a bite and believed that the cabbage was a real fresh one. And for my curry cream, um ... or say soup, it was yummy with little crunchy cauliflower dices and prawns. The soup was good to warm your stomach with a little spice

Waiting for a time, main courses came! My roasted beef was huge, sided with forgotten sauce, fries and radish dices *we thought*. The roasted beef was medium rare, yet the tendon was stringy. But the raw beef captured me anywaz. For the fries, they were served hot, not bad. Yet, I was not a radish fan, leaving lots. And for my dear's Coq au Vin, great meat texture, tender spring chicken we thought. The mushrooms were nice ... yet the whole dish was quite rich overall. Could not have the dessert session.

Eventually came the hot coffee and chocolate chunks. Nice chocolates and pastry for the after lunch thing, with a cup of very hot coffee.

Staff were nice and very helpful. Deco was chic, the restroom was well-equipped. Just like it. Hope to go for a happy hour next time.

回港不經不覺已近四年, 每逢聖誕節我也有幸被邀請和親戚一起享受聖誕大餐. 繼前兩年的Pierre, Chez Patrick, 今年從清單中的 French Window 和其他新餐廳列強, 選了在UPPER HOUSE 開業不久的 Cafe Gray Deluxe.大門從 MARRIOT 旁邊直上一條長電梯, 然後行幾步就到升降機, 一上就係30/F 以上. 據聞, 這前身是service apartment 的樓層, 被 Marriot 改裝成餐廳. 整個餐廳格局很 cozy, 侍應們也沒有那些拘束的服裝, 換來深啡色V領外衣及黑布褲. 所以, 客人 dress code 也只是有領衫加長褲就可以了.我們被安排到一個角落, 那只有一張大圓枱. 獨立的空間, 呈 V 形的玻璃窗, 伴著中環景緻, 這是Upper House 帶來另一種的視覺享受.Christmas set dinner.. 只有主菜 和 甜品 有二揀一, 其他已在menu中被定了.整個menu 如下:1) LOBSTER CHOWDER w/ potato-caviar salad2) GRILLED WILD SA

Christmas set dinner.. 只有主菜 和 甜品 有二揀一, 其他已在menu中被定了.
整個menu 如下:
1) LOBSTER CHOWDER w/ potato-caviar salad
2) GRILLED WILD SALMON DARNE w/ razor clams sauterne-shallot reduction

4) CHILLED SOUP OF RASPBERRIES AND CHAMPAGNE

. CHRISTMAS PUDDING w/ butterscotch fudge, marinated blueberries and vanilla cream
龍蝦湯 是第一道菜. 名為一碗湯, 倒不如叫"生拆龍蝦肉伴 lobster 醬汁". 除左圖中果隻鉗成隻凸出黎之外. 入面通通都係龍蝦肉. 咁有份量嘅湯, 都係第一次飲. 湯很濃郁, 又creamy, 可能是chowder 的關係, 少了一份 COGNAC 彧 BRANDY的酒香, 我想如果這是bisque的話, 將會是我食過最好的一個... 純粹個人口味罷了.
Grilled wild salmon 就為準備一嘗主菜之前來個熱身. 做法似是slow cook 後再 grill, 所以連三文魚也能又熟透, 又嫩滑.
幸運地... 我能夠試哂兩道主菜. 我選了prime rib. 這兒的燒牛肉也很不錯, 與Lawry's 不分高下. 肉嫩, 吃下去也少渣, 亦沒有討厭的筋. 不過, 食過最好的始終是Mandarin Grill 那一片second-end cut. 依然是所向無敵.
火雞乃應節食品. 當然要一試. 反而這碟算是我食過的數一數二好吃的. gravy 和cranberry 味道是意料之內, 有驚喜的是那片火雞肉, 嫩滑程度有點像吃金華玉樹雞那樣.
甜品送上之前, 沒有用上liquor 及sherbet 來清清味蕾, 而是送上raspberry 凍湯. 頗新鮮~
最後, 便是薑味雪糕 配那個酥皮似的strudel.. 另外那個選擇是傳統的聖誕布丁. 味道跟配搭也很不錯. 可能頭盤比較精彩, 所以少了份驚喜.
又一個聖誕夜, 是這樣飽飽的, 而又很滿足地渡過~~
p.s. 總括來說, 是很滿意的. 侍應雖不能令你感覺貼心, 但亦不失酒店應有的專業態度和水準.
