McDonald's came out with a series of limited edition McNuggets sauces. As I love those strange artificial tasting pieces of chicken solely for the dipping sauces (honey mustard is the best by far!), boyfriend and I decided to a box of 18 to share. $47.90 for a whole box.The boxes were designed with images of Line Friends. Opening the box, we get our plethora of nuggets. The spongy pieces of meat that I oddly throw into my mouth as this is my guilty pleasure.
The sauces. The honey mustard didn't taste like the honey mustard they used to have available. I think they changed the recipe but boyfriend wasn't sure. Lemon herb sauce was a bit like tartar sauce. A bit odd with chicken. Korean Bulgogi sauce was the worst of all. It tasted like some strange mix of hoisin sauce and char siu sauce. It didn't taste remotely like bulgogi and it was left largely untouched. The Korean chili sauce was super spicy but and it didn't really taste like Korean chili paste but more like just the spicier version of the bulgogi sauce. This was also left mostly untouched.
Boyfriend also ordered the Tokyo Nights burger ($34.80). One of the new signature collection burgers. This was a black squid ink burger with red and white cabbage, cheddar cheese, fried egg and "crispy"buttermilk chicken. Um..no. It wasn't crispy at all. In fact, this was one dry tough piece of chicken. The tonkatsu mayo was odd but it was the only thing saving this dry piece of meat. This was a signature collection that was a bit of a failure.
Tried it and really won't be back. The sauces for the nuggets aren't worth your time. I'd stick to sweet and sour.
