I sent my Filipino helper to order takeaway while I was watching my son. She came back crying and had a hard time explaining to me clearly what happened she was that upset. Lime Garden just reopened after a major renovation. The person at the front desk did not react when she asked for the takeaway menu but stook orders from other people arriving after her. She politely kept asking for the menu several time and then he exploded. He angrily waved the menu in her face and yelled at her to order. When she tried to order he loudly told her off in front of the other clients. Arrived home in tears, helplessly outraged but tried to reign herself in because my son was getting upset, too. We went back down and talk to the manager. She apologised profusely and promised to train him better. Then she just looked at us and waited for us to leave. I told her I wanted for that person to apologise to my helper. She was clearly uncomfortable but asked him to come out. We got a insincere apology: "Sorry, but I cannot speak English." When wanted to reply that it still wasn't a reason to treat others like dirt he cut me off with a gesture saying it's water under the bridge. Then the manager stepped forward again and reassured us she would train him better. Her meek demeanour towards the the front counter person made us suspect that he's the owner which makes it worse.
