Since the weather has started to turn cold, we planned to have something spicy to warm our body. As we were around Kowloon City area, we decided to have Thai food. Golden Wheat Thai Restaurant was located at Nam Kok Road, where alot of Thai restaurant were located.Despite the restaurant having simple decor, but they served authentic Thai food with ingredients directly from Thailand. Despite the restaurant having simple decor, but they served authentic Thai food with ingredients directly from Thailand. Their menu was comprehensive, serving all kinds of Thai food such as appetizers, curry, noodle or rice, salad, tom yum goong, drinks and desserts etc. They were running a promotion currently where spending were more than $200, we were entitled to order one of their selected dishes for $1 only.
Iced longan juice was refreshing and not too sweet, with the longan juicy and chewy. Iced mixed fruit in coconut milk was sweet and milky, with those sliced mixed fruit chewy and soft.
Deep fried spring rolls was fried till the skin was crispy and the filling inside was chewy. Thai sweet and sour sauce was provided to go along with it.
Steak chicken and pork were chewy and juicy, not too tough. Satay sauce was provided to enhance the flavour.
Deep fried ground shrimp was served hot, with the skin fried till golden in colour and crispy. Shrimp filling were chewy and juicy, and Thai sweet and sour sauce complimented it nicely.
Ground pork hot salad - The chef was generous with the serving, with huge amount of lettuce and minced pork given. Lettuce was fresh and crunchy, and minced pork was chewy and juicy, sour in taste helping to be appetizing.
Fried noodle with chilli sauce - Horfun was of fat and wide texture and was fried till flavourful and chewy. Minced pork was added to it, and was slightly spicy.
Tom yum goong soup was appetizing, spicy and sour in taste. There were tiger prawn and mini mushroom in it, prawn was juicy and fresh and mushroom were chewy.
Mango sticky rice was served warm and sticky rice was chewy and sticky in texture, with coconut milk enhancing the taste. Mango was sweet and soft.
