Zen is truly a hole. Indeed a horrible restaurant hidden in its seemingly-attractive jade crystal curtain. Most disappointly, it is a rotten place run by snobbish staff with shocking attitude.I was there last Sunday (6/1/08)for a dim-sum lunch and the experience was regretful. After tasting their low-quality food and suffering from the abuse of their staff, I promised myself that I shall never, ever think of returning to this horrible place again. The reasons:1) Horrible and delayed service -
I was there last Sunday (6/1/08)for a dim-sum lunch and the experience was regretful. After tasting their low-quality food and suffering from the abuse of their staff, I promised myself that I shall never, ever think of returning to this horrible place again.
The reasons:
1) Horrible and delayed service - the waiters and waitresses tended to only respond well to regular customers and westerners. Others? Sorry, we were not their target for extra tips!
2) Rude attitude - absolutely NONE of the waiters and waitresses showed their enthusiasm and concerns. Their responses were incredibly slow and arrogant. For instance, insinuating, challenging, or even arguing with the customers. There was a guy (in mid 20s) with dyed hair who frequently replied us in his rude and mocking attitude, and there was definitely no need for that. He told us for wait for 45 -60 mins for an order of Roaster Pork, but end up did not serve it at all!! We told him that we'd cancel it, and he just showed a carefree attitude - no intention to apology for the mess up.
3) Impolitely requested customers to leave - no matter how slow they served the dishes, the woman (with long, straight hair, in her 20s) at the reception would inconsiderably urge the customers to pay the bill and get out! Honestly, it was their faults that the fried rice came late, not ours (we did ask a few times whether the dishes were on their ways)! That horrible, ugly, and vulgar receptionist did not show any apology, but told us that we should have got our arses out of there by 1:30pm - and it was their mercy that we were still allowed to stay there even after 1:35pm. WHAT A BLOODY HELL!! The plate of fried rice was just arrived, but we were told to leave. Frankly speaking, it was their fault that the delay happened. Why should any customers put up with such ill-treatment?
4) Shabby tableware and TORN table cloth - okay for a standard restaurant, but not for one that charges the price like a 5-star restaurant. There were also food stains and lipstick marks on the tablewares - which required us to rinse and rub the tablewares on our own.
5) Low quality food for expensive price - $42 for an order of Shrimp Dumplings?! For the same (or even less) money I would've got much tastier foods elsewhere.
In general, the terrifying experience did not just ruin my lunch, but also spoiled my whole day! Everyone of us was really angry for a lunch made up of rubbish and fury. Sorry that my wordings may be a bit provocative, but please rethink before going to ZEN!
To conclude, Zen really doesn't deserve to exist here in HK. Like what a writer said earlier, it should've vanished ages ago!
