下 午 和 同 事 們 飲 茶 , 到 了 古 色 古 香 的 蓮 香 樓 , 木 枱 椅 , 推 車 仔 , 老 字 號 歷 史 , 這 樣富 有 懷 舊 色 彩 的 酒 樓 真 的買 少 見 少。 要 了 數款 點 心 ,每 款 也 是 熱 騰 騰 的 , 味 道 不 俗。 牛 肉 球 , 肉 味 濃 , 多 汁 ﹑ 魚 翅 餃 , 餡 料 豐富 ﹑雞 扎 , 足 料 大 件 ﹑馬 拉 糕 鬆 軟 可 口 , 雖 只 是 普 通的 點 心 , 不 算 是 甚 麼 特 別 , 沒 有 花 巧 的外 表 , 也 沒 有 標 榜 優 質 的 用 料 , 正 是 這 種 簡 單 ,才 有 傳 統 飲 茶 的 味 道 。

整體來說,這餐的味道很好,份量因為加大了所以份量十足,以這老招牌為名的一餐晚飯是值得一食。只可能服務有點大排一點,如果能熱情點招呼,肯定會吸引更多人前來。

來蓮香飲早茶,已經成了我家的’每週活動’ 之一.一直都覺得這裡的點心都很粗糙,一味大件夾抵食,塞飽肚就算.這天早一點來到,可以吃到比較新鮮蒸出來的點心,可以看看究竟是點心天生不夠幼細,還是受翻蒸所累而跌watt.看見馬拉糕熱謄謄的,阿姐還說’俾舊靚啲俾你’,還不是沒有麥芽香味的實心雞蛋糕一大塊?腸粉就更劣,皮厚得深不見底,裡面的牛肉餡甜得不像牛肉,多吃一塊已經覺得膩.蝦餃比較好一點點,但皮已經是厚,也粉,蝦肉甜但不爽,不好.最好的還是這裡出名的蓮蓉飽,雖然飽身太實太厚,像是麵包般另人飽肚,但蓮蓉是真的清甜香滑,咸蛋黃也極香,是每次都要吃一個的好東西.如果可以早一點到,坐得舒舒服服的話,只開一盅茶,吃一個蓮蓉飽,就已經很足夠.其他的不叫也罷!除非你有心想體驗一下’草根’風味的廣式飲茶吧.

最好的還是這裡出名的蓮蓉飽,雖然飽身太實太厚,像是麵包般另人飽肚,但蓮蓉是真的清甜香滑,咸蛋黃也極香,是每次都要吃一個的好東西.

如果可以早一點到,坐得舒舒服服的話,只開一盅茶,吃一個蓮蓉飽,就已經很足夠.其他的不叫也罷!

除非你有心想體驗一下’草根’風味的廣式飲茶吧.

  零三至今相隔了八個年頭,今次再從灣仔走到中環,八年前每個人同一目標同一理念,今次來了很多不同目標的團體,但都是希望我們住的地方能夠好一點,管理公司不要在那麼愚笨、可笑。  政府總部自己還是第一次到訪,過幾個月就會遷往超級無敵大海景政府大廈。從政府總部往下走,很快便到了蓮香樓,在中環尋食,很多時到最後還是到蓮香,貪其價錢公道,還算花得起。今晚兩人叫了醬燒骨、木瓜魚湯及通菜牛肉,簡簡單單便算。八時入席,顧客不算多,不用等位便能入座。木瓜魚湯火喉十足,可能今天有點缺水關係,份外好味,兩口子大碗大碗喝下。醬燒骨,賣相不錯,一大件方塊五層肥肉上一碟,腍度尚可,但略兼不夠入味。通菜牛肉,沒有難度的菜式,當然也不會有驚喜。  飯後走回政府總部已全面撤走,往下行回中環,驚見大伙兒在長江大廈繼續留守,自己便開始踏上回家路,跳上公車,往南區駛去,回程有點堵,前方原來給其他人士堵塞了,還好,自己靜靜在車廂上享受在中國土地上尚存的一點點真正遊行、集會自由,快哉。

上週六相約兩位同事做gym,基於其中一位兄弟要OT的關係,到他可以離開的時候,已是二時半之後的事,連午飯也沒有進食,如何有力消耗於跑步機上?! 盡快找個地方先作飽肚,其中一位說不如去蓮香樓,倒沒有太大異議,也沒有品嚐它們的點心好一段時間了,只是光顧於下午茶的時段,印象中應是第一次。作為一間有名的老字號,又得到前輩級的食評撰寫人推介下,造就出「客似雲來」的局面,接近三時之下,大堂上仍然坐滿接近九成,不少更屬於遊客及年青的一群。我們也算幸運,給找著一張小圓桌,其實也不太介意「搭檯」,但在可以選擇之下,還是可免則免。侍者送來三個茶盅,分別有龍井、鐵觀音和我的至愛普洱,來這裡如果不用茶盅的話,不免有點失色,起碼失去了那份「玩趣之味」。也可能差不多接近「落場」的關係,點心的選擇著實不多,例牌地出現的情況,只要從廚房處推著手推車出來,所有茶客也會一擁而上,看上甚麼心水點心就會遞上點心咭及取走。我們於頭輪之下,不約而同地拿了三款燒賣:先來傳統的豬肉燒賣,大致上味道不俗,肉質呈現應有的質感彈性,亦嚐出若干鮮味出來,上面也鋪了些許蝦仁,就是熱度上遜了一點,已說過不下多次,溫度對點心的美味程度,起了關鍵性

先來傳統的豬肉燒賣,大致上味道不俗,肉質呈現應有的質感彈性,亦嚐出若干鮮味出來,上面也鋪了些許蝦仁,就是熱度上遜了一點,已說過不下多次,溫度對點心的美味程度,起了關鍵性的作用;同樣的問題亦出現於舊式的牛肉燒賣上,口感上也是軟身了一點,總算還吃著一點牛肉味及芫茜之香。
三款點心,互有優劣。

最後的豬潤燒賣還算保持水準,上層甘香豐胦,底下的肉團也是鮮味而鬆化,當兩種食材配合起來之下,再加上濃味的醬汁,準不會令喜愛傳統的食客失望。

第二輪來上一籠雞扎,腐皮之下包著了雞肉及魚肚等,來得熱燙之下,其肉汁與鮮味也是迫出來,剎是好吃。記得以前的雞札亦會加上准山上去,時移世易,這普通的食(藥?)材也愈見昂貴,今次就找不著了。
雞扎勝在夠熱燙,豬肚燒賣亦算不俗,但同場太多此類點心,不免生厭。

在出甚麼拿甚麼的情況下,就連豬肚燒賣(註:又是燒賣?)亦不錯過,味道也和上段提過的豬潤燒賣相若,當然豬肚的口感也是有別,同樣也是內臟,於鮮味中亦帶點爽韌,今次的來貨則偏向軟身一點。
馬拉榚水準仍然保持,但臘場卷實在一般。

馬拉榚是這裡的名物,自然也不會錯過。基於接近「水尾」的關係,也拿不著最佳的「邊位」,據說蒸製時的豬油會擁向外圍.........今次的質感仍然鬆軟,味道上香甜之餘,亦呈現一定程度的蛋味及芬香。和上段斜路的萬花紅比較之下,就是差了一點點。至於同場的臘腸卷就........不夠燙熱之餘,包身也帶點黏牙,內裡的臘腸也是徒具蜜酒之味,欠上應有的油香,「不時不食」這句話,總有一定的道理。
切雞米線,是普通的水準味道。

最後三個人來一碗切雞米線作埋尾,除了大碗之外,其切雞肉的口感與鮮味,也是強差人意,主要集中於雞胸部位,食味也依賴於那碟薑蔥蓉上......最後三個人以近一百八十元下樓,雖然不算太貴,以今次來說,除了點心的選擇不多之外,其實味道也是千篇一律,初嚐下還算喚作懷舊,吃多數頓之下,已提不起多大的興趣。加上早輪的分家訴訟,對員工的班底組合,以致食物的出品,亦有一定的沖擊影響,總算還有「水滾茶靚」這個金漆招牌保證,但如果點心水準不過如此的話,相信甚麼食評家也幫不到你。

我同老友二人專誠去中環 try try 蓮香樓美食,這次是我第一次去,原來是要企係別人背後等位,感覺唔太好,因為好耐好耐都未試過。待應完全冇心幫你找位,我等左十分鐘走來走去終於有位 。坐底後待應大叔問我要"壺"定"杯"裝茶?我問有咩分別,佢即刻走人,我當堂呆左,依家仲有d咁嘅服務 ,佢地好冇禮貌,轉頭佢返嚟仲問我諗掂未,唉! 我求其話要"壺",因為我知問lai都嘥氣。蓮香樓地方其實好唔乾淨,地上四周有痰罐亦都坐得唔舒服,人頭湧湧。我哋二人攞左蓮蓉包、馬拉糕、牛肉燒賣、排骨同大包。唔係"攞"係"搶"先啱,根本點心亞姐一推車出lai d 人就蜂湧而上,唔"搶"邊有得食 。蓮蓉包、馬拉糕、牛肉燒賣同大包都好味,唯獨排骨賣相同味道真係一般。而香片茶都唔錯,唔"鞋"口,幾香。二人埋單每人大約$45,價錢上okay,但唯獨服務要有非常改善的空間,我覺得以前的評分唔應有咁多個"笑臉"!相信唔會再專誠去幫襯。

又是一間老牌的酒家掀起爭產風波,對於我們食客來說,最緊要都係有茶飲食物維持番質素就ok la,以後經營者是誰也不什関係.這天放了下午來到中環,以往在中環中心上班時已經很想來這裡飲茶,但總是佔不了座位,要等很久似的.今天約兩點來到,不用等位,但要搭枱.一張大圓枱和另外好幾壺人一齊坐,想不到的是大家竟然可以有傾有講,都好耐無試過呢種感覺蓮香樓的裝修仍是很古舊的中國風,還有推點心車的嬸嬸,和久違了的痰罐喝了很多茶但吃不多食物,這裡的馬拉糕非常的鬆軟而富彈性吃下去不會像一陣風一般還有淮山雞扎,很久沒有吃過粉果飲茶又豈能沒有飽呢,走到點心車問嬸嬸門有沒有什麼飽呀,她一掀開竹籠蓋說有蓮蓉飽,我問為什麼每一籠的飽都是裂開的呢她說這是開花蓮蓉包只有這裡才有的啊!是黃蓮容的還有咸旦黃的,好軟熟吃了一輪點心,到兩點半了可以叫他們的特價燒味粉麵雖說是特價也要25元一個,我們叫了一個义瀨和鵝瀨 义燒太瘦了而燒鵝又肥而無肉,吃完想再叫炒粉麵,但驚見星洲炒米也要75元,這麼貴還是埋單算吧

晚飯的時候,朋友拿出來一盒東西請我食,看清楚,原來是棋子餅,蓮香樓的出品。一盒有六隻,我吃了一件,是蓮蓉餡。皮是薄,餡不黏牙,味道亦不會太甜,要挑剔的只是蓮蓉不夠香,但其實這個水準,我是收貨有餘。話時話,又係好耐沒去吃過蓮香樓,都係時候重溫。多謝朋友的心意。

That's what Lin Heung Tea House features as one of its specialities: a cosy, casual eating environment where you can also get the best tea and the best dim sum.

Yeah, they are probably right with the part about dim sum. Theres little doubt about the dim sum here. But you would be wrong if you describe the environment at Lin Heung as 'cosy'.

I used to go to Lin Heung early in the morning (say, six a.m.?) for the steamed rice. Lin Heung used to be a quieter place, although not 'quiet' enough for you to sit back and relax during breakfast hours. The place is never quiet. But things just get crazier and crazier as time goes by. Lin Heung has become a place so popular among the local neighbourhood and also tourists. As more people burst in for the food, the tea place just get noisier and busier. Chairs touch each other and your elbow can easily hit someone else's jaw, as it is almost certain that you have to share a table. That's why I stopped going to Lin Heung.
Still i am seduced by its dim sum-which, perhaps are too huge in portion, and too filling for greedy people like me to get to try several kinds of them, tastes undoubtedly good. I realized that after having too much disappointing dim sums and steamed buns (including the birthday peach from Bao Dim Sin Sang). If I were to have dim sum, I would go to either Sun Hing(in Western district) or Lin Heung.

Siu-mai. The pork was full of juice and flavour, while the yellowish wrap was also tasty. It was probably one of the best I have had in Hong Kong - there are way too many siu-mai with flour and water added out there.

Fu-pei roll.Some chicken, yue-to and mushroom are wrapped in a plece of fu-pei. The wrap was not deep-fried and thus was tender and nice to have as it had soaked up the soup and sauce, as well as the flavour of its fillings. The piece of yue-to was delicious as it had completely taken up the juice and flavour. Excellent!

Loh-mai guen. The bun vaguely held some glutinous rice in place, and they immediately fell off as we tried to separate the rolls apart. The bun was quite thin, while the stir-fried rice was somehow bland in taste, although a lot less compact than what you usually find in loh-mai rolls.

Lin-yung bau.Who eats at Lin Heung without trying their famous lotus seed paste bun? The buns have become slighter smaller and it was actually good for me, as I could not eat too much and be stuffed with just a bun. The white bread was slightly sweetened and tender-like man-tou.

The paste was darker in colour and was full of the natural sweetness of lotus seed paste - absolutely gorgeous. The salted egg yolk gave a tint of saltiness and buttery taste to the filling. It was just so good and i think its literally the best you could find in hong kong.

Steamed spare-ribs. It was okay, the sauce was quite tasty and the meat was tender. Love chewing on the soft bones tho!

When compared to the others I had had in Sheung Wan and Man-Fa lau, the version here clearly lacks flavour. There was no sweetness of the brown sugar (mak-ah-tong). Its just a piece of soft steamed cake, period, and the filling of lotus seed paste was pitifully little.

Ha-gau. The koreans came here for the shrimp dumplings, so they said. I cannot deny that the shrimp was quite tangy and tasty, but the wrap was just TOO sticky and thick.

Some other dim sums that i didnt eat include the Steamed beefballs as well as the Steamed liver and siu mai.

My dad also ordered a place of stir-fried noodles with beef. I didnt eat as it was way too oily to me-the noodles basically shone with the oil sticking on each and every of them. ew.

Now enough talk about the dim sum and back to the environment issue. The place was so noisy that I had to shout. People were always on the move, either moving their asses around on their seats, turning their heads and loooking lost in the tea place, and more are always on their feet chasing after trolleys for fresh dim-sums. IT was too much for me to bear. The noise, the people, and everything were pressing on me, putting me on my nerves. Some may find such eating experience exciting but i found that completely unbearable and stressful. I guess that if you had to literally struggle through the crowd for just a bun, it would not be pleasant no matter how delicious the bun might be.

Yes, the dim sum is undeniably delicious, but i just cant stand eating in an environment as stressful as this. I eat slow, and i wish to eat somewhere i can relax and enjoy myself. If i had to follow the nerve-putting rules (which i can actually avoid, i dont have to go on weekends basically...) to eat, id rather not to.

There will be future returns to this tea place, this im pretty sure; but i dont think i would be going at such peak hours/days. Perhaps a round of slow tea-sipping and dim-sum eating/hunting in a lazy weekday afternoon?
Now that sounds a lot less hectic to me.

同阿女友行玩淺水灣過黎,都系下午三點半了,但系人仲好多我想都同我一樣樣慕名而來,以致于大家都無野食,需要去搶!外國人都入鄉隨俗去蒸點房前排隊~東西無食太多實在不好評價,不過古法馬來糕同腐竹鴨腳扎幾好,其他就嘛嘛啦,服務基本上系談不上嘅,下次應該唔會去la。。。

This had been an expected breakfast from Lin Heung Tea House as i thought my dad would have stayed there with his friends instead of buying takeaways back home for us. Anyway, the buns came out-of-the-blue; after some careful re-steaming, the buns were once again pipping hot as if they had been fresh from the steamer.

Having been to quite a number of different tea houses between my last visit to Lin Heung in person and this takeaway breakfast from the old spot, i had tried how different kitchens interpreted the Chinese buns, one of the most traditional and almost a must-have whenever you go yum cha. Some buns were disappointly soggy and airy in texture; others were either too small or too bland in taste. None, except the molten custard bun from Sun Hing, had been satisfying.

Perhaps some would comment the buns from Lin Heung as too fulfulling. Yes, indeed they are, and in cantonese they are truly 足料 as the bun itself has a texture denser than that of the western bread rolls. However what distinguishes this from other stone-hard buns is the softness and the sweetness in its taste. You actually feel like you are eating a part of the bun, instead of just the tasteless, flourly wrap which is used to hold the fillings instead of meaning to be integrated as part of the bun.

This is how i feel while biting into the 雞飽仔- bun filled with minced chicken meat. The fillings was juicy, tender and was seasoned with the aroma of chinese dried mushrooms; the bun had absorbed some of the juice/broth and was as tasty as the filling itself.

As for the famous 蓮蓉飽 lotus seed paste bun, the bun was thinner and held the somewhat runny lotus seed paste in place. The paste had always been naturally sweet yet smooth, unlike most disappointing fillings with a much lighter tint you get from whatever tea places. The salted egg yolk was quite flaky yet yummily salty and balanced the sweetness of the lotus bun. The relatively 'neutral' bun moderated the flavour of the bun. In short, the thing was oh so good.

Had the place been cleaner and quieter, i would have gone there for a morning tea every Sunday - too bad that it is always so crowded and it was never possible to have a table by yourself. You always have to share it with nosy and noisy middle-aged men who seem to be always so critical of the current affairs, of the taste of the food elsewhere, of the sight of you within his vicinity, to name a few.

Had the place been a better place to stay...the bun would have tasted even better without having to be re-steamed.

Apparently this restaurant was featured on some TLC show so it was packed. Luckily our friends had arrived at 10:30AM to secure a table. Good thing because there were crowds waiting by 11:15AM. Don't go here if you are looking for nice decor. It's your typical run down Chinese decor. It's the food you go for. This is the first time I've been to dim sum in Hong Kong (I'm from the US) so the experience was worth it! I felt bad for the ladies with the carts. They didn't have a chance. As s

Don't go here if you are looking for nice decor. It's your typical run down Chinese decor. It's the food you go for. This is the first time I've been to dim sum in Hong Kong (I'm from the US) so the experience was worth it! I felt bad for the ladies with the carts. They didn't have a chance. As soon as they emerged from the kitchen about 10 people swooped down on them like vultures to get whatever is on their cart. You gotta be quick to eat here. Everything was pretty tasty. We pigged out and the total was $345. Not bad considering all we ate.
