Boyfriend and I came back from Ocean Park and wanted to chill out at home watching tennis on TV, so we parked outside Thai Shing and ordered the following:
1) pomelo salad
2) green papaya salad
3) 1 dozen chicken satay
4) "dry fried" ho fun with seafood
5) red curry duck breast
6) rice
7) dried salted fish fried with chinese kale
It was torture having to sit in the car with such great aromas coming from the food but yet not able to dig in right there and then! It was way too much food for 2 persons but they were all so yummy we wiped everything clean!!! The salads were tasty but not overwhelming (some places make it too spicy/sour/herby), the satays were succulent and the accompanying peanut sauce was full of satay flavour, and not just peanut sauce made with crunchy peanut butter. The ho fun was a bit bland, but at least it wasn't oily. The duck breast was tender, lean and juicy, and I loved the curry sauce that came with it, hence i almost finished the entire box of rice!! And lastly the kale was cooked just right to make it tender yet still crunchy enough.
Everything was great, and the best thing is they didn't taste oily, or made me thirst afterwards even after so much spices and sauces!! And ALL THAT just costed ~$270!!
The restaurant is a bit small and crowded, but it feels more authentic that way, with pictures of thai temples and the King and MTV in thai playing on tv. They even mark each takeaway box in thai (obviously not for us to identify which box is which dish)... thai places are best run by thai people.
