The last restaurant I went to that was similar to this one was St Louis Steak House, the waitors all wore vintage clothing with bow-ties.
Same with this one, the waiters are in their mid fifties plus which reminds of Gingko in Central.
The reservation/waiting list is also old style too, especially the texture of the paper they use, and all the names are hand written and crossed off.

Due to the privacy this restaurant offers, it explains why there are so many celebrities and politicians dining there.
When I was dining there, I saw Fung So Boh (actress) and some politician (duno her name).

Apart from the Soufflé the other dishes were boring such as Swiss style fried flat noodles and baked rices.
The usual Chinese food! I suppose the only one dish I could try would be the fried flat noodles and beef.

I came here for the Soufflé so that was what I ordered.

However, the waiter told me in a displeasing tone that it would take 35 minutes, I am not sure if he didn’t like the idea of me occupying the seat for at least half an hour or whether he got the impression customers complain after waiting too long.

When the souffle came, it smelt so nice, it smells really eggy and reminds me of the smell of Malaysian steamed cake (maa lie go).
It was huge when it arrived.
The inside of the Souffle was pale yellow, inside it was so light and fluffy.
Every time I ate it, I had to sniff it because it smelt so nice.
It is so rare to have something that smells, looks and tastes good!!
It was piping with steam because it came fresh from the oven.

Tea was included so I ordered tea for the sake that it was included.

When it came, it visually looked good that I almost thought it was the Western type of tea!
The tea looked really silky without residue or condensed milk residue on the side of the cup.
The smell confirmed me it was HK style tea.
Although I didn’t like it, I still tried a sip, the taste did not irritate me as the usual HK tea’s do, but it was a pleasant one.
There was no bitterness and after drinking half of the tea, the tea was so silky it didn’t leave any marks like the usual HK tea does.

餐廳內既伙計們唔係叔叔就係伯伯,雖然未至於話態度惡劣,不過可能太忙,而且係賽馬日,所以佢地個樣都"好不在乎"同"完全唔休做"咁。面冇笑容,放低餐具比客人自己分,落完單,擺低餸菜就走人;比起上黎,茶餐廳D哥哥仔友善得多,真係好奇怪佢地點可以收咁貴


 餐包:等位等得太耐,所以第一樣入口既通常都特別正,可以稱得上係成餐飯最精彩既一味。餸都未叫已經有得食,送到埋黎重熱辣辣,認真暖胃。個包軟腍腍,夠鬆化,唔洗用牛油都夠哂甜,冇得彈

 瑞汁牛河:$78,真係貴,酒店都好似差唔多?真係唔知瑞汁咁貴bor!淨睇賣相都知河粉偏油,而且河粉同牛肉既比例唔係好啱,唔夠牛肉;依味好似唔係好夾超甜既瑞汁,只可以話勉強過得去。

 梳乎厘:$98;大部份係空氣都收咁貴,好似唔係好值。不過真係夠哂巨型,我地六個人分黎做甜品剛剛好。佢係唔連汁既,味道亦較淡,一般過一般,不吃也吧!

I had booked this place early in the morning, booked it for 12:30, for 4 people. Went there first, my driver drove me, and my brother went there himself. Anyways, I arrived early, my brother arrived 5 minutes later. He ordered a escargot and pork chop rice, then I ordered a double leg rice. I always order that... Anyways, for some reason the other 2 people arrived almost an hour late, which by the time we finished already... The soup that came with the rice, was ox-tail soup. It tasted very goo

The soup that came with the rice, was ox-tail soup. It tasted very good, I thought it had a good, genuine flavor, although the ricey stuff at the bottom was not really good to me... But I know they're really good for health.
The rice was awesome. I thought the beef part of it was overcooked, but the pork leg was much more yummy. The rice was a bit hard, but I come here not really for the food, but mostly for the memories. The foods fine by the way, but it seems a lot of people are here for memories I think...
Anyways.. we left almost 2 hours of being there, because the other 2 people finally arrived to eat their lunch.. haha.. The desert was cake or jelly. We went for the cake. Quite the big mistake. It was no good... Just go for the jelly, you'll thank me later!

I've been in HK 15 years and this was my biggest dinning disappointment. I ordered the set dinner for two. They presented me with some frozen mixed vegetabels that you can buy in Park n Shop, and what looked like a few strands of bacon. I thought it was an appetiser or a complementary dish, but it turned out to be the main course (pig leg)! I was horrified. What is the position of this restaurant? 因為是下午兩點多到達, 看到桌上這下午茶套餐還挺超值, 上菜的速度頗快, 點好餐點後沒多久就上桌了!!瑞士雞翼 ~ 太平館的招牌菜色, 因為是下午茶餐, 所以只有三隻. 他們這獨門醬汁吃起來甜甜的連骨頭也很夠味!乾炒牛河 ~ 牛河炒的很入味, 且滑潤的口感, 加上牛肉也很嫩, 讓人無法挑剔烤乳鴿 ~ 味道香噴噴, 肉好嫩...味道十分惹味!!巨大梳乎厘 ~ 外層吃起來有蛋糕的口感, 內層軟綿綿!!

I work nearby, and was interested in trying out their 'Classic' menu for Tai Ping Koon's 150th anniversary (1860-2010). One sentence summary: not worth going at all, unless you have a desire for overpriced cha chaan teng food which relies on its image, rather than its quality. Detailed summary: while it's quite a pleasant break from eating at the hustle n' bustle of a Tsui Wah or Sun Chiu Kee, the decor, old-man-staff and dim lighting are about the only thing positive at this branch. One sentence summary: not worth going at all, unless you have a desire for overpriced cha chaan teng food which relies on its image, rather than its quality.

Detailed summary: while it's quite a pleasant break from eating at the hustle n' bustle of a Tsui Wah or Sun Chiu Kee, the decor, old-man-staff and dim lighting are about the only thing positive at this branch. Tai Ping Koon has been around for a while--and it shows. It has a reputation for a few things: Swiss Chicken Wings, Steak & Chips, Baked Portuguese Rice, Baked Pork Chop Rice, and so on.

Pros: The feeling of borrowed nostalgia as you walk in and see what a cafe might have looked like in the 1950s. They've made the effort not to update things which are far too common in Hong Kong: cheap, plastic furniture, poor lighting, bad interior design. Tai Ping Koon looks the part and it looks authentic.

-Swiss chicken wings were good, if not spectacular. I've had better wings elsewhere, but perhaps it's just the style: I'm not a big fan of 'wet' chicken wings in an overly sweet sauce. Tasted like they added honey to the Coca-Cola and then marinated the wings with soya sauce or something.

Cons: Everything else. The Russian Borscht soup was awful and tasted like a cross between ketchup and cabbage stew. A really poor example of a simple and actually quite fine dish when it is done right. But, as with most Borscht soups in HK, they are quite different from the proper Eastern European one, and rely too much on tomato paste / ketchup.

The 'classic' Canadian Angus Rib-eye with 'Salmis' sauce: I asked for medium-rare, and was given a raw steak that hadn't sat for long enough. Blood was oozing out, it was stringy, rubbery and full of tendons. I have never seen a steak in such poor condition as this, not to mention a steak that has been served to a customer. It was over-tenderized, and I have a hard time believing this was a real Canadian Angus rib-eye.

I have yet to work out exactly what is a 'Salmis' sauce: is it a salmon-based sauce? A misprint? The mystery continues. It tasted like the leftover steak fat drippings mixed with a touch of ketchup, water and corn starch. Completely missable. The fries were decent, and there was a single piece of broccoli and tomato, as is keeping with this type of steak dish.

The service: as soon as I had set aside my Borscht (I probably had about 1/4 of it) so I could continue reading my newspaper, indicating I no longer needed it, the previously attentive service dried up completely, as if I had just insulted someone or behaved out of line.

To sum up, unfortunately, Tai Ping Koon appears to be a restaurant which relies solely on its name or reputation, without guaranteeing any measure in the quality of the food. Sometimes, some things should be updated to reflect the times we live in, and food quality is most definitely up there at the top, particularly when you are paying HK$196 for a lunch set. I could have gone to any number of 4-5 star hotels and gotten a much better steak set than this poor excuse.

12-10-2010是日收工時間終於「正常」一點, 亦難得朋友約食即興 dinner, 2 人約 8:30pm 嚟到銅記無乜心水下, 入了呢間老字號豉油西餐廳食個 2 人餐 (前菜/湯, 主菜, 甜品及餐飲各 2, ).Starter #1 「海龍皇湯」: 典型的港式西餐廳龍蝦湯, 飲落帶點羅宋湯的酸味 , 不過都有點「蝦殼」味道的, 亦有粒粒龍蝦肉, 算係咁吧; 不過質地就有點太糊 / 杰, 印象一般.圓形甜餐包反而幾好食, 熱辣辣夠鬆軟, 食落微甜, 塗點牛油 (已 soften) 食, 滿意. 是日收工時間終於「正常」一點, 亦難得朋友約食即興 dinner, 2 人約 8:30pm 嚟到銅記無乜心水下, 入了呢間老字號豉油西餐廳食個 2 人餐 (前菜/湯, 主菜, 甜品及餐飲各 2, ).

Starter #1 「海龍皇湯」: 典型的港式西餐廳龍蝦湯, 飲落帶點羅宋湯的酸味
, 不過都有點「蝦殼」味道的, 亦有粒粒龍蝦肉, 算係咁吧; 不過質地就有點太糊 / 杰, 印象一般.

圓形甜餐包反而幾好食, 熱辣辣夠鬆軟, 食落微甜, 塗點牛油 (已 soften) 食, 滿意.


Starter #2 大蝦沙律: 典型的港式西餐沙律, 面頭一大 pat 沙律醬 (Kraft 牌?), 大蝦爽實而無乜味, 下面除了 greens 仲有薯仔沙律及(罐頭)雜果沙律混作一團, 都幾「兒時味道」的感覺.


主菜 #1 瑞士汁干炒牛河: 呢度名物, 當然要試試
河粉條條薄滑上色, 配上黑漆漆的瑞士汁, 食落唔覺特別「瑞士」, 似食腸粉 / 蒸飯供應的甜豉油多 d
, 不過又幾好食.
牛肉質地軟腍, 無乜肉味, 不過「梳打」度亦唔高, 都不錯; 仲有大量我一向麻麻的豆角, 不過脆卜卜豆角配軟滑河粉同吃, 口感較豐富之餘, 感覺上亦無咁飽膩, 正
幾好食的一碟牛河, 值得試試.

主菜 #2 瑞士雞翼: 隻隻肥大, 雞肉少少嚡, 但食落幾腍又多汁, 雞皮則吸滿甜甜的瑞士汁, 質地亦爽身, 正
「元祖」店果然好食 d, 值得試試.

甜品 #1「蛋糕仔」: 蛋糕帶點橙味, 較乾, 配上好甜的忌廉, 諗起細個時最怕食到的 N 年前美心/聖安娜出品...

甜品 #2 啫喱: 係黑加侖子味, 比「蛋糕仔」更「兒時味道」, 哈哈


最後飲杯熱奶茶, 雖然唔滑, 但茶味幾香, 滿意的.

Weekday 夜晚原來都幾多人, 坐落幾嘈, 冷氣又好大, 不過 2 人有 4 人梳化椅卡位坐, 無投訴的; waiter 們大部分係上了年妃的大叔, 帶點「傲氣」亦唔算友善, 不過效率係幾高的, 算吧.

埋單每人約 $160, 唔平, 但亦唔係特別貴, 而 $160 用喺呢度絕對比用喺任食打邊爐或 e.g.「板記」連鎖「金三文魚」壽司店抵得多, 可以一試的.

星期五放工同老公去銅羅灣試下太平館雞翼之前已經成日想試但亞媽又話貴唔扺食但我最鍾意食雞翼始終想試下更出名一去到叫佐個雞翼餐有湯, 麵包, 六隻瑞士雞翼跟飯 同飲品之後再叫瑞士汁抄肉片河(太好了, 我唔食牛可以轉豬)最後當然唔少得梳乎裡一見餐牌 $98 好貴啊問夥計個梳乎裡有幾大佢指另一張人檯哇! 原來好大, 成個頭更大!瑞士雞翼好入味, 好滑瑞士汁抄肉片河都 OK不過梳乎裡唔好食食佐 $360 , 好味道, 好開心而且 d 夥計好親切想像倒, 佢地待遇應該不錯

係屋企從來不整雞翼既我,都想嘗試下研究整一次,回味啊!我一共食左四隻,哈哈!

因為兩個同事拼命搶食乾炒牛河,後尾都吃唔落,我只好勉為其難咁將淨低既都食哂!

仲有一個讓我們讚不絕口的乾炒牛河,$76/份啊!的確好食,好多年冇食過又夠鍋氣又夠味的乾炒牛河了!牛肉好嫩滑,好香的頭抽味!

加一服務費,埋單400幾~!不過真係好食~

慶祝我的生日, 2個人去咗”太平館”。 7:00pm平日, 都要等10-15分鐘, 仲要係不停有人等的。叫了一個瑞士雞亦餐, 另加乳鴿一隻、瑞士汁牛河。餐:湯 / 沙律:要了沙律, 因為可以share食。細細碟, 味道亦唔多吸引, 早知叫湯好過, 話哂都係龍蝦湯嘛。瑞士雞亦 (6隻) (選擇跟意粉):雞亦好大隻, 漲卜卜, 好入味。不過意粉無汁, 自己加瑞士汁, 好似太濃for意粉。甜品:一件4方的海綿蛋糕, 跟餐甜品, 不要有期望。餐茶乳鴿一隻:好味, 又係加埋d瑞士汁。不過如果可以再炸多少少就再好d。瑞士汁牛河:牛肉比較少, 河粉炒得入味。食完以上食物已經好飽, 所以無可能再食得下馳名的梳乎里 (真係人頭咁大咖), 唯有行吓街先再去食甜品。食物keep住水準, 所以仍然多人幫襯 (都有好多係街坊嚟買外賣), 不過service都係一般, 友人話”找錢”時, 侍應唔等友人就收回個盤 (紙幣已攞, 仲有硬幣在盤), 好似唔係咁禮貌囉。環境就一般, 因為枱與枱之間空間好細, 由於我地被安排坐門口隔離, 所以d人入嚟等位就會比較影響囉。 加上又多人等位, 都唔好意思坐得耐。

最開心的事就是一班朋友去食飯!由於有朋友剛從外國回來, 所以我地今次選擇比較古色古香的太平館!Hehe…其實自己都係第一次去呢!環境都算舒適, 感覺好像身在藉民地時期一樣!服務一流, 而食物方面都算ok!海龍皇湯個湯濃淡適中, 有魚片, 蝦, 墨魚…好足料! 飲完已經飽左一半!!瑞士雞翼雞翼煮得很入味呢!!瑞士汁甜甜的, 好好食,仲有白飯淘d汁一齊食,正!瑞士汁牛肉炒河個河粉有好多瑞士汁, 牛肉又腍又入味, 超好味呀!燒乳鴿唯一一樣比較差的, 乳鴿乾了一點又無肉味!煙倉魚魚的煙薰味道頗為特別,但又是乾了一點吧!梳乎里超超超大個呢! 味道一般啦!其實價錢唔算平, 不過總算有特色!恆生信用咭有9折

魚的煙薰味道頗為特別,但又是乾了一點吧!

超超超大個呢! 味道一般啦!


其實價錢唔算平, 不過總算有特色!

這天的太平館乾炒牛河,新鮮河粉條條分明不黏疊,難得細嫩河粉皆掛上啡黑的醬油,無一「見白」的河粉軟熟嫩滑,沿邊的部分還吃到焦而不燶的質感,廚子日炒夜炒,是日子有功的成果。
