A big fan of ramen, I have heard a lot about this place. Walking by occasionally, I have seen the hoards waiting to get a bowl of ramen here. Some have probably traded hours in waiting here. This must speak volumes to what the experience is worth. On a late weekday night, I saw the wait was short and decided to find out.Having seen snippets on my friend's facebook, I knew the seating arrangement was different. Having seen snippets on my friend's facebook, I knew the seating arrangement was different. Yet, the seemingly complicated ordering system was very easy to grasp. I think it says a lot about the thought that goes into the experience and kudos to the owner for devising this. It allows really no "awkwardness" one might experience dining alone, and it focuses on table turns. The setup must be initially a bit more expensive but hey, it works and is one of a kind.
The taste I'm not so crazy about. Noodles, average. Soup base is too rich for myself but I can see how others swear by it. The horrible part is the char siu they serve is so sorry looking they might as well not have served it. I understand the idea of the focus being the soup and noodles and not the other stuff, but this makes me think of war times where they might serve you a big batch of potatoes with a slice of spam so thin you could see through it if you tried. For the price point, it is certainly not worth it.
I have to give full points on originality of seating, experience is also refreshing and not alienating, but the food is left with more to expect.
