HeSheEat is a fairly popular dessert shop in Mong Gok. There always seems to be a queue. A while later, they expanded to Causeway Bay and added the words "cafe" at the end. The cafe part meant they also added hot meals such as all day breakfasts, pastas and sandwiches.When it first opened, I only had a drink for I was on my way to dinner and didn't want to eat anything. When it first opened, I only had a drink for I was on my way to dinner and didn't want to eat anything. I decided I'd return again to give the meals a try. After lazing about at home on a weekday, I noticed it was time for lunch and came here.
They have lunch sets on weekdays. Sets included soup and/or salad, main, daily dessert and daily drink. If you choose only two courses, it costs $98. If you choose three courses, it's $118. There is no 10% service charge.
Parma Ham and Melon Salad. This was actually a pretty nice salad. The salad greens were fresh and crispy. It tasted fresh and light with the addition off melon. But what I liked was the salad dressing that was used for most places that do a set lunch salad, it's usually balsamic vinegar or thousand island sauce. Or sometimes they use sesame just to shake things up. This was not the case here. There was a light citrus taste and I loved it. Made the whole salad liven up and not just the same old same old.
Wild Mushroom Soup. This was a creamy soup that had a light mushroom taste. However, they added truffle oil, something that is sadly popular of late, so it over powered everything. Otherwise, it was an ok soup.
Crabmeat Risotto. This was a pretty big portion of risotto. The rice was not al dente but more softer. I'm completely ok with not al dente risotto. It was creamy. However, there wasn't a strong crab taste. This is probably due to the generous shavings of fresh Parmesan! Yes, FRESH Parmesan and not that silly Kraft grated Parmesan powder that majority of less expensive places use. I was a pretty pleased with this. There was also some pumpkin mixed in for some added sweetness.
Look how cheesey it was! SO MUCH FRESH CHEESE!
Ice Fruit Tea. The set drink was an ice fruit tea. This was pretty average. Not much fruit taste. But it was part of the set so really can't complain.
Daily Dessert. The set included a daily dessert. This was a blueberry cheesecake. The cheesecakes were creamy and rich, so having them in little bitesized pieces made it not too filling. The blueberry sauce on top was perfect. But what blew my mind was the billowy soft cloud of vanilla flavored whipped cream with a scattering of crunchy raspberry flakes. This was heaven and a perfect ending to my lunch.
As I love their desserts, I was pleasantly surprised that their savory dishes were pretty good as well. It's too bad that they do not have an option to add money to upgrade drink and/or dessert to something else. If they had that, I would pay extra. Will be back.
