Have always wanted to pay a visit and Pica Pica seems to be a popular spot for dinning and drinks. We were being seated at the far side away from the bar counter but still found the place a bit noisy and music rather loud. Anyway, this is expected from such a bar in Sheung Wan. We (3 people in total) ordered the following to share:
Ajillo prawns - though the prawns were slightly over cooked (possible since they sat in that piping hot iron pan with the garlic oil), there was a strong aroma emanating from the garlic oil and the prawns, together with the burnt garlic and hot oil tasted good with the bread.
Octopus Galician style- though the octopus was moist and not hard, flavour-wise, it didn’t wow me either
Baby gem salad- a word of caution, the charred goat cheese was quite strong, otherwise, the dish is rather plain
Deboned sucking pig - the skin was thin and crisp and the meat was tender. It would be good if we could have a bigger piece 😅but bearing in mind the price, we cannot ask for more.
Pica Pica paella Surf & Turf- the chicken meat was rather tough and the dish generally was way too salty which is a let down.
Torrija Spanish French toast- the bread, having been soaked in milk and fried was moist and smooth in the centre. This is not a bad choice if you are not a fan of cheese cake.
Average costs per head (with drinks included) come to around $370 which is not bad for a night out.
