As I had an indoor cycling class in Central, so Fiance planned to have dinner nearby. He went to this restaurant with his friends once and found it is ok, so he brought me to have a try!The restaurant is located near Lan Kwai Fong, right on the Ground floor of the California Tower. Table reservation is only applicable for table for over 8 people. Therefore, fiance arrived earlier to secure seats. Perhaps its Monday's night, the restaurant was not that full given its around 8:00pm. 

The interior design of the restaurant is simple. There are open kitchens at the back and the tables and chairs are mainly made of wood. Some of the tables have sofa sitting but there are not many.

There is no dinner sets. Menus are typical ones: Appetizers, Salads and Soups, Pizzas, Pastas and Desserts. (Menus are provided for reference at the back of this review)

In the end, we ordered two main dishes: 

1) Calzone ($128); and 
2) Spaghetti in a rich sea urchin sauce ($198)

The portion was quite large and luckily both of us did not order extra food. 

Inside the Calzone, there were tomato, mozzarella, ricotta, salami calabrese and basil. Well, frankly, this Calzone was quite evil. Luckily, it was not the most evil one. There was indeed not much cheese inside (as Fiance said that the Calzone he had in USA was fully stuffed with Cheese).

When we cut the Calzone into half, we could clearly see the ingredients inside. The dough was not very thick and its quite crispy. Although fiance said that it would be better if it was stuffed with more cheese and meats, I did find it quite good as I did not want much cheese in my diet. 

I personally did not like tomato but the portion of tomata inside this Calzone well fit the portion of mozarella and ricotta, making the whole thing less greasy. The basil there also added colour to the scent, making the whole Calzone more tasty. 

Spaghetti in a rich urchin sauce was served a couple of minutes after the Calzone. We regretted not having this spaghetti a bit earlier. When we started having the spaghetti, it had already turned a bit cold.

The portion of the spaghetti was also quite large, enough for 2-3 people. Perhaps it had turned cold, the taste of it was quite disappointing. First of all, I did not find the spaghetti was in a rich sea urchin sauce. Actually, there was not much sauce. As for the sea urchin, it was not very fresh but luckily it still tasted ok. The spaghetti itself was a bit hard and sticky too. Compared with the Calzone, this one was a bit over-priced.

After all, the restaurant is a good place for causal dinner, with a reasonable price. I would say that pizza here was better than pasta. In fact, when we were having our food, grilled rib was served in our next table, which looked very tasty and nice. Fiance and I are planning to try it next time!!

I've been here twice so far. Both times underwhelming.First time was a lunch, and surprisingly they have no lunch set. The only one in the whole Central without one. I ordered grilled vegetables for starters and it turned out to be cold served, and with a lot of oil but no taste. I've been here twice so far. Both times underwhelming.

First time was a lunch, and surprisingly they have no lunch set. The only one in the whole Central without one. I ordered grilled vegetables for starters and it turned out to be cold served, and with a lot of oil but no taste. The spaghetti I ordered was spicy, I couldn't taste anything else aside from that. 
Staff was attentive so that's good. 

Second time was for dinner. We ordered pork loin and beef rump as appetizers, and they turned out to just be cold cuts salami. Do they not have any hot appetizers? 
Main courses arrived. As you could see from my pics, the pizza had huge crust with only the middle part with actual ingredients. The pasta portions were sad... and only fit half a person's worth.
We ended up eating somewhere else afterwards to fill ourselves up. 

Worst of all is that they have no meat items. Even the menu only had pasta and pizza sections. I asked them for entree of the day, they said they don't have it yet... 

Good things are that their staff are attentive, and the atmosphere was good. Good for drinks only.

So I decided to kick things off with some veggies but this kale salad ($118) with pancetta breadcrumbs, pine nuts and honey garlic dressing was kind of disappointing. There's just not much there other than the kale and pine nuts (Where's the honey garlic dressing by the way?).

Roasted duck breast with red cabbage ($228) was an off menu item and it turned out to be a lifesaver for us. This was the only dish that came with a decent portion. The duck breast, although a little overcooked, was meaty, flavorful and quite tasty (although a little more than just those two dots of sauce would be more than welcome).

除夕日,中環外出進餐的人好像比平時多,跟同事走到California Tower附近,發現了這家新開的意大利餐廳。十二時半時間尚早,似乎已超過一半入座,我們都想試試新餐廳,在沒有訂位的情況下,侍應帶我們到最後一張二人枱,我們還真幸運呢。前菜方面,我們都懶得思考,點了Classic Mozaralla Tomato (HKD38)。蕃茄很一般,不是特別鮮甜也不是特別JUICY,Mozaralla Cheese還OK。隨碟送上了兩塊Pizza皮做的薄餅,雖然我是現場看著廚師搓麵粉,但吃下去也沒有特別覺得脆口新鮮,皮有點厚。眼看旁邊枱上的薄餅都是厚身的,也沒有付予厚望了。主菜方面,我點了肉醬意粉(HKD128),肉醬其實挻香的,不怕有太多汁蓋過肉香味,但真的不是很特別。另一個Clam White Wine Spaghetti(HKD168) 更為出色。意粉硬度剛剛好,又爽又彈牙。推介!服務方面就真的是有待改善了。上菜的時間還好,但侍應把前菜跟另外兩個意粉主菜一起上,我們真的有一秒在無聊爭扎,究竟要先吃意粉還是主菜。最後,我們還是趁熱先吃了意粉。價錢和餐牌與中環其他意大利餐廳也沒有太大差別,平

另一個Clam White Wine Spaghetti(HKD168) 更為出色。意粉硬度剛剛好,又爽又彈牙。推介!

服務方面就真的是有待改善了。上菜的時間還好,但侍應把前菜跟另外兩個意粉主菜一起上,我們真的有一秒在無聊爭扎,究竟要先吃意粉還是主菜。最後,我們還是趁熱先吃了意粉。

價錢和餐牌與中環其他意大利餐廳也沒有太大差別,平均一百五十多元一位。Is it really worth the value?我覺得SO﹣SO,還是偏愛Lingui-fini/CIAK的意粉Texture。

之後就上主菜,Gnocchetti alla Salsiccia,係由意大利腸配蕃茄仔而成,因為menu無寫到係辣,所以食到時都幾意外,Gnocchetti質地岩岩好,唔太林,加埋個source一齊食,辣之餘腸既肉味都好出。

Pizza方面,因為愛好芝士關係,waiter就介紹左呢個Quattro Formaggi俾我地,睇起上來都應該重芝士味,可惜食落就一般,或者太油既關係,有d肥膩既感覺,不過impressed既係,因為係open kitchen,所以就目到兩個大火爐去烤pizza,呢個都係店內既一個賣點!

去到第二轉,我地決定自己揀野食,左邊係Pancetta Coppata,右邊係Parmigiano Reggiano,其實都係亂揀,左邊見到係pork neck,都想試下係點,就order左呢個,又係果句,無咩特別。而個廿四個月既parmesan chesse,質地有d硬,芝士味十分重同濃,如果只係單食就咸左D,但夾埋個烤餅就恰到好處,協調番濃郁既芝士味,不錯!

另外,Spaghetti alle Vongole係一個安全既選擇,都係waiter之前介紹既一個dish,clams都有鮮味,spaghetti都彈牙,但有少少偏咸。

另外一個叫做Crema Catalana,其實我地睇內容覺得幾得意,所以就叫,但一上枱原來係Crème brûlée,個面脆而薄,呢一樣野已經要讚,個custard base又軟又甜,兩者加埋一齊口感十分好!


建議下次去食呢間餐廳,一定要訂位,因為琴日星期六六點就到,未有太多人,所以唔使等位,而我地一傾就傾左三個幾鐘,侍應既招呼都好好,上菜又快,不過越夜就越full,相信都多客人陸陸續續去試呢間新店,真心期待下一次再去時有更多驚喜!
