I’m glad I tried this new place. Even with two floors, it was bustling with customers on a Sunday afternoon, and I understand why. Though prices are not cheap, there is a good variety of food that’s made well. Service needs a bit more work though.
特色蕃茄濃湯公仔麵 w/香辣牛肚
Apparently, the “special” and “signature” tomato soup are exactly the same, with the only difference between them being the choice of ingredients to go with your noodles. It just seems a bit daft to me – it misleads people (like me) into thinking that the signature soup isn’t special, and anyway, why name the soup differently when it’s the same?! Anyhow, though I don’t really remember which one I ended up ordering, it did taste rather special. It was rich in tomato flavour but just a bit too spicy (even though we picked the lowest level of spice) – perhaps this had to do with the spicy beef tripe, which was also not bad in texture and taste. The scrambled eggs on top didn’t make much difference, but the effort is appreciated.
蕃茄紅咖哩龍利柳焗飯
This would have been great if there was more sauce. However, even with the insufficient sauce, it was quite spicy, and the curry flavour was evident. The rice had been nicely fried, but was maybe a bit too dry particularly with the lack of sauce. The whole thing was baked thoroughly and looked very presentable.
一口粒粒包-香芋味
As I expected, the taro flavour was weak. There was some purple taro sauce, but it didn’t really taste much. However, these toasted bread cubes were nevertheless enjoyable to eat, being chewy and crispy and not overly sweet. Somehow, I think the vanilla one would be nicer – for next time.
士多啤利益力多
A bit expensive for such a small glass (additional $16 with a meal), but it was really refreshing, and the sugar crystals on the glass rim was a fancy touch. Kinda like the scrambled eggs in the noodles.
