It was my brother's birthday and we were looking for a nice place for dinner. Came across this one and decided to give it a shot since the vast majority of the reviews are good.
And it turned out to be right. I was very satisfied with this place. We started off with a bottle of New Zealand Marlborough (spelling?) white wine. It was nice and chilled to my liking.
We had a seafood platter for starter shared among 3 persons. The fish was fresh and tasty. We then moved on to the Fondue, and it was just what we wanted - pipping hot cheese with good bread to soak it all up. By the time we got to the bottom of the pot, all three of us were already half full!
For mains, we ordered the braised oxtail and the lamb chop. The oxtail was tasty and the lamb chop was cooked to perfection - medium rare, juicy, tender and full of flavours! What's more.the mash on the side was also sinfully luscious!
We rounded off the meal with the chocolate chalet cake and the chocolate fondue. They were both good. It was then we saw Alan Leung walking in with his wife. I went up to shake hands with him and showed him my support!
Was going to get a coffee but had absolutely no room for it. Will certainly come back to this place again.
One thing I'd like to say is their service. It was good enough for a place like the Peninsula, but I didn't experience the friendly service some of you reported. In all fairness, everyone was courteous, perhaps we were not regulars? I don't know.
Chesa is indeed a very nice restaurant. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something different.
