Tried out the 1-Michelin Starred 🌟 Mandarin Grill + Bar located at The Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. — Definitely a highlight of the meal! Not only does this look good but also tasted amazing! The different varieties of fish roe created a contrast of flavours whilst the cauliflower purée added a touch of lightness to the dish.
Pic 2️⃣: Japanese Wagyu A5 Kagoshima Tenderloin 🥩
— Probably my favourite dish of the meal. The wagyu was extremely tender and simply melted in my mouth. The sear on this was perfectly executed and also well seasoned. The asparagus added a nice freshness and crunch to the dish.
Pic 3️⃣: French Langoustine 🦞
— The poached egg was topped with a nice creamy hollandaise sauce and sat on a bed of spinach, which really reminded me of an eggs royale 😂 Personally thought the langoustine was a bit overcooked, but the langoustine bisque was very flavourful.
Pic 4️⃣: MSC Certified Steamed Brittany Seabass 🐟
— Was quite disappointed by the dish as the flavours of the seabass didn’t shine through. Having been steamed, the dish was quite bland and also lacked a pop of colour.
Pic 5️⃣: Pan-Seared & Glazed Ox Tongue
— Loved this! The ox tongue was so tender and had a meaty flavour to it. The acidity from the redcurrants and pickled onions really helped cut through the heavy flavours of the ox tongue. A very unique combination of flavours that worked harmoniously.
Pic 6️⃣: Truffle Custard & Caviar
— So good. This really bursted with flavour, the truffle custard was insanely creamy and rich, and went perfectly with the savouriness of the caviar.
Pic 7️⃣: Pre Dessert 🍓
— A very fresh palate cleanser, flavours were well balanced and at a good sweetness level.
Pic 8️⃣: 70% Chocolate Soufflé 🍫
— Might’ve been the best chocolate soufflé I’ve ever had. The texture of the soufflé was light but had insanely rich flavours. It also went very well with their homemade chocolate gelato which was equally delicious.
Pic 9️⃣& 🔟: Vanilla, Lychee & Raspberry Soufflé
— Both soufflés were very tasty but slightly sweeter the chocolate one. The raspberry flavour wasn’t very prominent, but the lychee sorbet definitely stood out for me.
