The queuing policy here is really PROBLEMATIC. My friend and I were badly treated by the bad service last month. We missed our number by 5 tables when we went back to the queue after a small break in the cafe (like most of the people!) We asked the staff (the fatty girl at the door) if we would be allocated table in this case. The answer was yes- we would be allocated the next table. We then kept waiting for another 15 minutes due to her instruction. However, the next table was not allocated to us, nor the third and the forth one. We asked her what happened and she told us that the Japanese manager (female) didn't allow the allocation coz we have passed the number. WHAT?! We did ask you if we would get the table at the beginning and the answer was "yes". Therefore, we continued to wait in the street under 33 degree hot weather. We never begged for a table!! We then argued with the Janpanese Manager that they were at fault with this inconsistent queueing policy. The restuarant could absolutely strictly stick to their "5 table queueing policy", no one has the right to blame them. If you choose to wait for 3 hours for dinner, it is your own business. However, it is unreasonable for them to ask someone to keep waiting 5 seconds ago and told you to leave 5 seconds later!! We are their valauble customer who pay for a decent dinner, not a stupid thoughtless puppet played around by the restuarant.
Well, finally, we got a table after a 20 minute agruement. The story hasn't finished yet. We discovered a BUG lying happily on the sushi! We told a HK staff who calimed to be a manager (I doubt if he is) about this and he just took the sushi and walked towards the kitchen. I was sure he threw it away to erase evidence. Five minutes later, anohter male Japanese manager came to us to say sorry and made up an excuse that the bug might have flied onto the sushi from outsides! It was IMMPOSSIBLE as the sushi was covered by a plastic lid and most important was the kind of bug was something like a book bug without wings! I didn't think it was capable in flying 200 meters to land on a salmon sushi.
We walked away from the restuarant few minutes later without eating any sushi. Of course, we have reported to the Department of Food and Environmental Hygiene the next day.
Those so called "famous" restuarants always tend to become arrogant, impolite and have no respect for their most valuable resources - customers. We are just ordinary people who want to enjoy good food and good service after a hectic work or on holiday. Do we REALLY need to queue up for 3 hours and still be treated as an idiot??
