撈麵 : 幼麵 + 澳門包心卷 + 路環香腐角 + 澳門魚腐 + 沙茶醬 I was most looking forward to tasting the sa cha sauce. It’s difficult to get the taste just right, and you usually either love it or hate it. I was worried. I needn’t have been. It was neither too overpowering nor too mild. However, I guess it could have done with a stronger peanut taste, for the personal reason that I love a good peanutty taste. I needn’t have been. It was neither too overpowering nor too mild. However, I guess it could have done with a stronger peanut taste, for the personal reason that I love a good peanutty taste. Another downside is that it seemed to have too much corn flour mixed in, and was slightly too thick/ coagulated. There was also some soy sauce floating on the side, which I don’t understand why. It hardly had any taste anyway – I guess it was mainly on the tofu pieces, which were pretty tasteless themselves. They were also too thin, so it was like there was just the deep-fried skin.
As for the fish meat pieces, they were quite oily, but chewy and addictively flavoured (yay for msg!).
On the whole, a very good snack-like dish – i.e. it doesn’t use good quality ingredients, and the whole thing is roughly executed, but it manages to tickle your taste buds, like a good snack (yay for msg!).
Sometimes, it’s comforting to just eat something that’s just thrown together, without anything delicate or fancy, and is just nice and hot and cheap. I was comforted.
Yet it made me incredibly thirsty throughout (no yay for msg), and the drink was awful:
無花果蜜
Completely and utterly tasteless, and I didn’t even ask for 小甜. As one of the drinks needing an extra $3, they should seriously make it better.
