The burgers at Shake em Buns are actually quite good in a way, as it does not disappoint in most aspects. Although it does have some flaws which makes me unable to give it higher marks.
For example, recently had the Burger with Melted A Grade Cheddar (my 2nd choice, as they ran out of the magic mushrom one).
- Burger bun was big, yet too spongy and not toasted enough. This made it too difficult to bite into the burger as it was falling apart, not to mention the bread texture wasn't very good as it was Hong Kong nised. The bread SERIOUSLY needed to be toasted more.
The beef pattie was big. It was juicy, with a lot of watery juice running out of it. The pattie however had little beef taste, but a lot of flour and onion and mustard and black pepper taste from the seasoning instead. I'm not entirely a fan of having onions inside my pattie even if it helps the pattie remain moist, I'll rather have it outside. The pattie also tended to fall apart easily. The latter - I actually wouldn't mind if the burger was smaller, but with the overly soft bun, everything inside was falling out left and right, it was rather hard work to finish the burger in one piece without getting hands dirty.
However its definitely better than the Burgeroom version, who's burger is too big and the patties too thick and tasted like eggs over there.
Vegies/Salads were ok. Cheese was not bad either, it had some cheese taste, although there wasn't much of it.
All in all, despite the burgers being quite good in some ways - I think I'm not going to come back and eat here anymore as I don't like the bread style here. Plus Absolute Burger not far from here has a lot more real beef taste in the burger, so that'll be my no.1 spot for now.
A very high 3.
