Paella was flavorful and tasted legit but they don't seem to use fresh chicken. The chicken had that frozen taste in it. Not that it is not rare for restaurants to serve once frozen chicken, but they should definitely marinate the chicken better to mask the taste. The wait staff and even the chef were very friendly, but maybe can do more while purchasing / prepping ingredients.

I guess the location and the decoration really doesn't help with the restaurant. It's supposed to be a Spanish restaurant but somehow it looks like an old English pub. I was quite hesitant when I was outside as it looked rather primitive. The food was mediocre and I think part of the reason was with the ingredients. I don't think they're using very good or fresh ingredients here, and in order to hide this fact every dish is quite salty with lots of olive oil. The olives were very good though. Ha

I have dined in Plaza Mayor for a few times. Like before, the overall dining experience was pleasant. The restaurant is decorated in a Spanish style. There are many pictures on the wall which can show how friendly the restaurant is. The lights are not too bright so it is a cozy place for gatheirng. I heard the boss dines in the restaurant almost every day, which can show that the food quality is guranteed.They offer spanish wine. If you are lightweight like me, its Sangria will be a good try. It

Iberico ham is a must-order dish here. The ham is very premium. The meat is tender. The taste is very good. Not like other hams, it is not over-salty. The slices are done very well too. The thickness of each slice is almost the same. Each slice is placed on the plate orderly and nicely.

This is a new and delicious dish. Oxtail with cubed potatoes. The oxtail meat is marianted very well. Meat is tender. The cubed potatoes are not too deep fried so the taste is perversed well.

This is a very palatable dish. When the dish comes, you have to mix all the ingredients together: eggs, potatoes and shrimps. The eggs make the potatoes very tasty and soft.

I like this dessert very much. It is rice pudding with cinnamon. Milk makes the rice pudding very smooth. If you don't like cinnamon, maybe you should tell the waitress to add less cinnamon. But personally I like the cinnamon taste.

Ths is classic churros. It is traditionally dipped with chocolate. The berries are not only for decoration, you can dip them in chocolate too. The churros are fried just right. My all-time favourate Spanish dessert. 

Chatting, eating and drinking. It was a lovely and delightful night. Will come back for some more dishes.

Dough fritters with Chocolate其實處理得不錯,外層微脆的口感,甜度適中,基本上蘸上朱古力漿更見豐腴,但朱古力漿卻是出奇地水汪汪,未有預期的濃稠質感,可說是美中不足。
沒有吃到主菜,亦沒有品嚐過Sangria,單憑幾款Tapas,只能當作聊天消閒,打發時間用,但這六道小食要$294/位,兩位起,味道還可以,但同類選擇還有很多吧!

去到PP唔知食乜,所以就去星街附近搵嘢食....行行下就看到這間店好像不錯就入去試了,這間店好似比較受外國人歡迎....頭盤送了small bite的ham with mozzarella cheese 及一件好似蛋卷的東東....朋友說ham很香,很好食....我地叫咗bread with olive oil, warm and crispy bread....good...而個mushroom with garlic is also delicious, 有好香的菇味....再嚟個白酒黑椒煮硯,啲硯有少少沙,但新鮮同個白酒幾香....最尾個small lamb chop就一般,因為咸咗啲,cover咗羊本身既味道....飲品方面朋友叫了杯sherry,我就叫了杯organic red wine...都幾好飲....以呢個價錢紅酒算唔錯,不會太酸, full body,唔澀

I have eaten here several times.  And the food (when they are not out of a dish) has almost always been good and enjoyable.  However this last time there was a mild problem with the food: the potatas bravas, about half on our dish, were undercooked.  As a hospitality professional myself, I always want to let the owner know if there is a problem so they can make it better under the theory that I would want to know if I were them.  However instead of getting sympathy and a fix (properly cooked potatoes would have been sufficient), we were instead given a lecture on the differences in the cooking style of potatoes between Valencia, Barcelona, and Madrid, where the owner is clearly from, and, according to the man, they apparently prefer their potatoes pretty much raw in the middle.  Even after assuring the owner that we have been to Madrid and eaten plenty of potatoes there, he still wanted to keep going, to let us know that we were wrong.  I wish I could let this slide as a Hospitality 101 mistake but unfortunately, it appears that is just the way thing are done at this place.  As such, he has lost my business forever.  And I will tell people the story here and really anywhere friends are telling stories of restaurant disasters.  And in case you were wondering, no, he did not comp our potatoes (not that we wanted that) nor did he come to see us goodbye even though we were one of only two tables at the restaurant eating at that time.

The moment we arrived we were surprised the place was empty at the height of lunch hour. We had booked a table, but the waitress said we can sit anywhere. We were the only customers until a couple arrived, and another one walked in toward the end of our meal - and we so wanted to tell them "please don't bother to come here!" 

The food
We chose the $288 lunch for two, which included a choice of one starter, soup or salad, a choice of paella and coffee or tea. We had an additional starter and a dessert, so our total bill came to around $480. To be fair, the Iberico ham and garlic mushroom starters were great. We both had gazpacho soup, which was okay and then came the big let-down with the chicken and seafood paella. As my friend described it, "the seafood was almost invisible". It was also soaking in oil. We thought our day would still end nicely with our dessert. While the churros were cooked right and sprinked lightly with sugar, the chocolate dip looked like leftover chocolate mouse with milk on top and some strawberries and bluberries. It looked and tasted horrible!

The service
There were two wait staff on duty that day, and the one who served us was an older lady. As my friend said, it felt like we were bothering her. When we asked for something, she was impatient and had a forced smile. We haven't finished our food, she wanted to take our plate. When we asked for the bill, we saw her playing with her phone with the other wait staff. She never asked us what we thought of the food or what else we needed. I can't remember if she said goodbye. But nevermind, we're never coming back!

I walked pass the restaurant many times. The beautiful Ibreico leg of ham at the window looked so tempting that we finally went there after a concert for some tapas and wine.
The last time I had real Spanish food was back in Alcala, a small town near Madrid, where my friend brought me to the local favourite, so my expectations are high. A glance at the menu reveals the restaurant mission to bring real Spanish dining experience to Hong Kong: a wonderful selection of tapas and mains, complimented by a meticulously selected wine list.
We started with the Jamon 100% Iberico which was rather silly because it was so rich and tender that you could't go back to something else if you wanted more. The ham literally melts in your mouth and the dark and characteristic complex Iberico flavour lingered until you wash it down with the full-bodied Rioja - the harmony and fullness literally warm your soul, simply a match made in heaven. It was only 6 of us but I can't recall how many portions of ham we ordered!
Garlic Shrimps is another Tapas highlight. In Hong Kong, I often come across garlic shrimps with strong fragrance from the garlic and olive oil, only to be disappointed by the soft, dead-ish texture of the shrimps. Not the case here. Just as one would expect in Spain, the shrimps here are crispy and firm; when you bite into it, the elegant olive oil and the freshness of the shrimp simply overwhelm your tastebuds.
Tortilla de Patatas is an extremely difficult dish to master; most either make it with potato chunks that are too big or overcook the egg that it's dry. The best version I have had is my friend's mom homemade version where the potatoes are finely sliced and the eggs cooked to a perfect temperature. Plaza Mayor's Tortilla de Patatas comes very close to it and I have never had Tortilla at this level in Hong Kong.
Paella de Marisco, the iconic Spanish dish, is often poorly executed. Over- or undercooked rice, excessive oil, lack of seafood, saltiness, you name it. However, the Paella here is close to perfect: tender, well-timed rice with a generous amount of seafood on it. The only complaint? It's a bit too small for the 6 of us because we all want more.
In addition to the food, the atmosphere here is very cosy and relaxing. Unlike typical European restaurants in Hong Kong, Plaza Mayor is not overcrowded and noisy where you can't talk or too classy that you are constantly reminded to behave yourselves. Everyone here seems to be having a good time, even the waitresses seem very happy and they are very friendly and courteous. It's kind of like an instant getaway to Spain!! The manager said there will be free tapas for every beer, so I guess I will come back again for happy hour, too!  Highly recommended for those who want true Spanish flavour and an authentic Spanish dining experience!

This was the most painful order. The dish comprised of mushy white rice coated in ample amounts of oil and a tasteless spice mix. Hidden inside, you find a few pieces of frozen, mushy, stringy minicarrots and discoloured green peas (the same ones you find in the frozen section of a supermarket) as well as a few pieces of, again, discolored lima beans. The carrots and peas were completely tasteless and discolored, deprived of any nutrition or flavor of any kind. 

Chorizo...
Old, tough & bad quality. 

Mushroom
We had to send this dish back.. the mushrooms are canned mushrooms and still tasted of preservatives. 

Potato Bravas
I was told to always judge a Spanigh restaurant by its Bravas.... Well It sure didn't fell as those were the worse We ever had.
Forgettable, tasteless and bad spicy sauce

Beer
The only saving grace. Not made on location


SERVICE
We sent back the mushrooms because it was not only unfresh & canned but it still tasted of preservatives. We were told they weren't and no apology was offered to us. We were also not greeted on our way out. This place shouldn't be around for too long if this doesn't change.

This place is a total rip-off. Totally over-priced.Tapas:Garlic shrimp: 3 small shrimps for HK$70. So expensive and very small.Cold sardines in vinegar/garlic. Again, very very small portion for HK$70. Not worth it.White bean stew for HK$150: taste is good but portion very small.Tuna & potatoe stew for HK$150: not much taste and portion small.If you have money to waste, go ahead and try this place. 本身去食個間full 左...唯有轉場...朋友話食過E間...諗都無諗就入左去坐....其實環境不俗, 入到去好relax..食物 ( 相片我只影得一幅, 因為掛住傾計 )Paella Marisco (seafood paella) (6.5/10)佢D海鮮都幾足!但蝦有D"梅", 飯太鹹...成為佢ge 致命傷,,,,雖然落足lemon... 但真係愈食愈鹹.......gambas al ajillo (Garlic Shrimp) (7/10)我好中意食garlic ge...佢個蒜片好香!!!所以挽回少少分數!!!Rosa de Azul y Garanza ( Rose wine) (8/10)Not Bad!!!有少許果香...但不重...易入口...Chato de Vino ( red wine) (7.5/10)E個果味再仲D...但唔知點解酒味不太重但濃....都幾好!雖然環境不錯....但我覺得咁ge 價錢可以有更好,....所以唔會再黎啦........

有少許果香...但不重...
易入口...

E個果味再仲D...但唔知點解酒味不太重但濃....
都幾好!

雖然環境不錯....但我覺得咁ge 價錢可以有更好,....
所以唔會再黎啦........

Food was quite disappointing. I have had much better Tapas else where. We ordered (sorry not the proper name on the menu):1. Deep fried whitebait - Not tasty at all. 2. Chorizo - It was salty, super hard and tough, almost unchewable. We had to chew on each thin slice many times before we could swallow them. We informed the lady and she recooked them for us. It was slightly better but still not too good. 3. Anchovies with tomato sauce on toast - this tastes ok but the toast was again super ha

2. Chorizo - It was salty, super hard and tough, almost unchewable. We had to chew on each thin slice many times before we could swallow them. We informed the lady and she recooked them for us. It was slightly better but still not too good.

3. Anchovies with tomato sauce on toast - this tastes ok but the toast was again super hard and chewy.

4. Iberico ham - this is good! At least something good.


The food was unimpressive that I didn't even want to take pictures.

Service was good though. The lady was very helpful.

Too bad that food was no good and I wouldn't go back.

午飯時間最大的功能,不單是為身體加油,還能舒緩上午綳緊的節奏。這天和同事兼好友來到灣仔「日月星街」有期望的嘗試這間西班牙餐廳,坐下之後看見只得一款set lunch的餐紙,就只有tapas combo配飲品,98元一份,而combo的內容有三款食物,未知份量,只望吃得飽。。。落order後和好友傾計,好一陣子,才看見侍應拿了一份烘面包,都只給隔鄰食客罷了,我的肚子開始投訴,這十分鐘才來一客烘面包(給別人),我不禁追問侍應,他有禮貌的示意「很快」,這個「很快」,害我的肚子多受五分鐘餓的折騰,我再次不耐煩的向侍應表示,正常的tapas怎會如此慢?侍應尶介的從廚房拿來一份烘面包!開玩笑吧!十五分鐘來的是烘面包!後來所謂主菜combo來了,一隻有三格的碟上,放有一小堆薯仔沙律,另有太陽蛋附上黑毛豬火腿碎,最後有chorizo粒。我就似餓鬼的食呀食,愈食愈感覺這個午餐令我很委屈,一隻蛋可填滿多少我飢餓的胃口?黑毛豬火腿碎及chorizo粒又是强差人意的硬及咸,怎也想不到這些原應是用來佐酒的食物,就在我眼前是我的午飯!之前的兩片烘面包早便讓我狼吞,以為這裡同樣跟我嘗過的tapas餐廳一樣,面包不吝
