IM I would say is probably the best Teppanyaki restaurant in Hong Kong. This is not my first time here so in a way I knew the wise thing to do is to book Chef Mok to prepare the food for us. That turned out to be a brilliant choice. It's like a tradition to serve sashimi before going into Teppnyaki (I have no real clue why), I liked the prawns it was great. Scallops, excellent. What I like about IM is that their style or cooking isn't too oily and heavy, unlike many other teppanyaki in HK. Abalone, not too impressed. Not bad but certainly not great, this dish was a bit boring. Chef's signature fish with the fish skin fried. This was amazing and I'd say the creamed corn sauce really enhanced the dish. An eel sushi, I liked the idea and it's fun. Was delicious also. I'm not sure if this is on the menu, but I order it specifically every time I come here. The red prawn linguine done in teppanyaki style. Absolutely delicious. Finishing off with fried rice. Overall speaking, the quality has been great. One would probably say that it's a bit overpriced (one being me) but I really enjoyed it. The overall style is not too heavy which is great.

This restaurant as been introduced to me as a new fine dining French restaurant designed by Andre Fu. I didn't know it was the old Aberdeen Social before. I must say the decoration was very nice, formal enough with a casual twist. Was indeed quite cool. Started off with a nice plate of sourdough. Quite a nice amuse bouche. Grilled octopus. Was quite delicious. Their famous chicken. Supposed to serve 3-4 people but the two of us finished everything. It was really juicy and very nicely cooked. It's actually smaller than I imagined. And some Japanese rice with Chicken skin that came with the chicken. I like the environment a lot and it's kind of fine dinning yet it doesn't give you the really rigid and proper fine dinning pressure. I'd say the set up is quite fine dinning but not the way they serve/present their food. Price was fair as well so I'd definitely come back.

It has always been pretty hard to find decent and fine western food in this side of the city. Many fine ones couldn't escape the fate of closing down (the likes of seasons, bellavita and probably drawing room from quite a few years before). So I am actually quite excited when Castellana came to the building. Quite conservative on the setting. Amuse bouche. A tartare. Quite tasty in a smoky flavor. All their cocktails are truffle themed. This one is called a Mr. Truffle. The menu I ordered for today. Asparagus and eggs. Too salty. Tagliolini in broth. The two egg yolks there was quite interesting for the dish. However I thought the dish was a little too light. A side order of spaghetti aglio olio. Too salty. A bit interesting that the dishes here are quite inconsistent. Salmonata with red currant sauce. Didn't like the overall match. Dessert: custard with plums. Quite yummy. It was great that the staff offered some truffles as a surprise gift for us. Have to say I wasn't too impressed with the overall food here. Nevertheless service was quite good here and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. I would say the portions are not too big and you might have trouble stayong full with its 4 course menu. Might come again in the future and see if there are improvements buy after all the things I heard about this new restaurant I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. Suggest the chef work on the consistency in his cooking style.

Was supposed to go to another restaurant nearby but they told me they take cash only so I decided to walk around to see if there are other things I can eat. This little pub/restaurant caught my attention. This is their quinoa and avocado salad. It's actually amazingly fresh and the dressing was delicious. And then the chicken and prawn fajitas. A bit salty but was quite delicious. Some tortilla wraps that went with the fajitas. Grilled salmon. Quite big in portion. To my surprise, the ingredients used were all pretty fresh. Would definitely come back again to explore the rest of the menu.

Usually a big fan of Sheung Hing in Sheung Wan but decided to try something new on the other side of the city. Supposedly owned by affiliates/co-owners of 好酒好蔡, very famous across Hong Kong and Guangzhou so I made an effort to try it out despite the distance. A very casual/ghetto place. Steamed clams. Quite delicious. One of their signature dishes here. Another signature dish the goose head. I thought too much bones and not enough meat. Not my favorite. 猪油渣春菜煲, less greasy than I thought in fact and not bad at all. 娃娃菜潮州鱼蛋, probably one of my favorite dish here tonight as well. Mashed taro. Personally find it a bit too sweet. Some 潮州抄手, okay, not great. Personally I'd say that Sheung Hing offers more variety on their food and I personally like SH better. Although this was quite a decent dinning experience nevertheless I don't feel like there's something offered here that SH can't offer or can't top. In conclusion the food is fairly good and the environment obviously is not too fancy. Price is not cheap for the location but I guess its still fair for the food we ate.

I've read some reviews before coming to Fu. It does seem like most people had the impression that the place is a Chinese restaurant for Westerners. I would agree to that and add a few other issues that is quite critical. I thought the portions were too small so you have to order a lot of dishes in order to be full. I thought services were not great, I did not feel the service level I should get given the price I paid. Lastly the food I was offered simply were way too overpriced given both the portion and the quality of the produce itself. Regardless of how stylish and cool a restaurant may seem, food is still the core component and core competency of a restaurant. Very cool environment, as I would imagine given the cool vibe of tai kwun. Razor clam cold dish. Not bad. Beef shank. Way too salty! Jelly fish. Decent. Chilli crispy lobster. In all fairness the taste was not bad. But this is $680 and I wonder if there are 10 pieces of lobster. Chilli seems like a disguise rather than decoration. Black truffle scallop. Alright. Truffle crispy chicken. Interesting sauce. Again this is presented as 1/2 Chicken. Totally not true, way to small for half. Char siu. Supposedly one of their signatures. Completely disappointed and way too salty again. Again their signature dish called lotus pond. It's a very fancy vegetable dish and like the rest of the dishes the size were too small. Crab and egg white fried rice. Okay. Abalone and duck rice stew. This was quite delicious, despite the abalone was way too salty. The sad truth is that in order to leave without being hungry we had to order 2 rice. Somehow the chef uses a lot of salt in his cooking, not a very mainstream style nowadays. At $1000 per head I would say this place does not offer too much value. It was indeed a bit different to what I would've imagined and indeed was a disappointing experience.

One would normally have high expectations for the Thai food in this area, especially from one of the more well known restaurants. The table was so small that you can barely for drinks and 2 dishes. I think the restaurant managed to demonstrate the worst arrangements ever, we ordered food and dessert at the same time, and then dessert were the first to come in this ridiculously small table. We asked the waiter and she made it sound like it's my problem for ordering too early. There goes my appetizers. Both came at the same time. And then everything else basically came in one go. Spicy squid salad. Wasn't bad but was perhaps a little too spicy. Tom Yam Gong. Was decent. Fried vegetables. Thai green curry. Bad. The quality of the chicken was pretty bad. Spicy fried clams. More like spicy fried onion and peppers it was too difficult to find clams meat to eat. Fried curry prawn. Like the previous dish it's difficult to find prawn and when you find it it tastes frozen. I've got to say I don't understand why a restaurant can be so famous while both the food and service can be so bad. I honestly never expected much service from this restaurant but this outperformed my expectations by miles. Next time when I come over to KL city I should do a bit more research.

Today I was looking for something more interesting and special so I decided to do something a bit more exotic, Lebanese food. I've walked past this restaurant so many times and aside from the people doing shisha outside the restaurant I don't know much about this restaurant until I Openriced this place so decided to give it a try. A two page menu, quite condensed and I'd say relatively easy to pick from. The page with appetizers. And then the main course. Started with hummus! A bit different from the ones I've tried before this hummus seems to have a bit more zest and I would say a bit less creamy in texture but it's quite good. Pita bread that came with it. Another appetizer, prawns with olive oil and lemon juice. Beetroot salad. A little more sour than I would've thought. Main course: seabass. Very crispy and the sauce on it was quite delicious mixed with pinenuts. Then a chicken and beef duo with fries. This dish consists of beef tenderloin and probably chicken breast or thigh (I would guess it's probably thigh). I would say I enjoyed the chicken a bit more than the beef. The fries were delicious though. Overall quite a nice experience and it was a pleasant surprise. I'm probably going to come back again!

This is my second time to this restaurant and I liked it quite much on my first visit although I've forgotten to take pictures hence didn't write a review on the place. The restaurant attracts you at the entrance with a fancy decoration. I personally find the general mood and decoration to be quite cool. It's like a mixture or fusion of new and old. It's got some very old school stuff such as seats and English hats as decorations but at the same time it's got a lot of mirrors and modern lighting. It's rare to see these old school champagne glasses nowadays Quite a clean menu that doesn't give you a lot of choices, as much as I liked the food, I did feel that it would be better if there are more varieties.  We ordered a la carte and I started my dinner with a "Braised Turkish Morels, Peas and Wild Garlic on Toast". I personally thought it was delicious and the fried toast was quite a good idea.  And then a nice "Steak Tartare and Wafer Potatoes" that was absolutely delicious. It was very nicely seasoned.   My main dish I ordered a "Roasted Wild Turbot, Grilled Romaine Lettuce, Braised Mushroom and Bois Bourdan". I think it was decent but a bit on the salty side.  Some mashed potato as side.  Finally dessert was Toffee Pudding. Way too sweet!  British food has always had a terrible reputation and has been accused of cooking terrible food so usually I do not have too much expectations from British food. Nevertheless, Gough's delivers a nice twist to traditional British cuisine which makes it a lot more appealing. I'd definitely come again.  Overall quite pleased with the meal, pricing however is probably on the high side given the food that was served. 

After all these years of being a celebrity chef, I do have a feeling that Ramsay's interest might has shifted from cooking (or trying to create fantastic food to the world) to trying to make as much money as possible with his brand name. I've tried Breadstreet when it was still in central and I liked it better than the relocated one at the peak now, realistically I was not able to identify something really special in the restaurant. Menu was simple enough, everything stuffed to one slide. Started off with some octopus. It was quite salty! Scallop with chorizo. It was okay but not great. Smoked steak tartare. It's got quite an Asian fusion to it and it's a bit spicy. Again wasn't too outstanding. Pesto, spinach and cheese flatbread. Was quite good. Again a bit salty, seems like the chef indeed is quite heavy on the seasoning. Mixed grain and beetroot salad with hummus and Chikcen. The chicken was added to the salad and I thought it was a bit dry. Salad itself was okay. Fish and chips. Didn't get to eat it, only taken a picture. Grilles whole seabass. Arguably the best dish of the meal. Wasn't bad and the skin were quite crispy. My overall comment would really be the fact that the image you see of Gordon being a super rigorous chef and asks everyone to pay full attention to details - probably not going to happen in his franchises. I know this restaurant is managed by Dinning Concepts and I'd describe them as more of a mid-end restaurant group and I believe what's lacking is that high end touch. Yes I know the peak is a tourist area but still it's not a bad thing to make things a bit more fancy and/or elegant. I can't say I'm really disappointed in this occasion but I also don't think it's worth coming to the peak just for the meal. Perhaps I didn't order the right stuff such as the beef Wellington or Shepherd's pie. P.S. the toilets are too small so I really think they should do something about it.
