I was very late to a dinner gathering at Mr. Steak Grill and therefore only managed to try the desserts when I arrived at the restaurant. (1) The Hot Soufflé ($68) was accomplished. The portion of the soufflé was generous, and the texture was fluffy and ethereal. There was a hint of ginger and a nice eggy taste, and the level of sweetness was just right.
(2) The Gratin Pancake with Fresh Mango ($88) was also very satisfying. The pancake had a delightfully soft and slightly stretchy texture, and the baked surface was scrumptious. The fruits and the cream complemented the pancake's flavours.
(3) The Warm Chocolate Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream ($78) had a rich taste of dark chocolate. Molten dark chocolate oozed out of the fondant as we cut into it; the vanilla ice cream was also creamy and tasty.
The desserts at this restaurant are more expensive than the ones at dessert shops, but the portions are much larger too. I'm very tempted come back just for the fantastic desserts!
Hello everybody,Yesterday I finally got the chance to have dinner there after hearing many complimentary commends here. Hello everybody,
Yesterday I finally got the chance to have dinner there after hearing many complimentary commends here. I arrived at the restaurant at half past four hoping to try the steak, but to my disappointment I could only order the items separately, i.e. starter, main course, dessert…..one by one, not only was it troublesome it also meant that I had to pay a lot more, so I changed my mind to the oysters there, I talked to the manger(I guess he was) and was informed that they only got the Scottish creamy one at that time, all I needed to do was to go after 6:00pm to have the set dinner and a larger variety of oysters, that was what really I decided to do. I’m very happy to tell you all that I was treated courteously throughout!
At round a quarter past six I arrived at the restaurant again, I told the manger I wanted to have air-conditioning (afraid of second-hand smoking or sudden change in weather) seat indoor and I was led to a seat by the glass-pane having a view of the customers outside. I ordered a set dinner consisted of salad, U.S.A. sirloin with goose liver, a dessert and hot coffee.
The bread offered to me was not impressive indeed, though still warm and crispy outside, a tall waiter asked me if I’d like to have more bread before collecting the utensils for me. The vegetable salad was a lot better with a salty brown dressing and most crucially was that the vegetables were really very fresh. I really want to have more but this time the waiter didn’t ask me if I’d like to anymore!
The steak was served with a few pieces of cooked vegetables, 4 to 5 pieces of fresh little tomatoes(forgive me here not knowing the names of the vegetables at all!) and quite a large lump of mashed potato, yummy! To the sirloin itself, the surface is crispy, although a bit overdone instead of my ordering of medium rare beforehand, it was still quite juicy with a texture of enough tenderness! The creamy goose liver was as ever not my kind of thing(added to it doctor’s advice), and I’d like to leave it to your discretion next time you go there!
The dessert was a small cube of cake with smashed red bean on top of it, not much to say about that although I still prefer it less sweet (may be out of my prejudice against sugar). Last but not least, the coffee is to my surprise a gem of the whole dinner, I think seldom could we have something up to that standard, impressive really!

Will be back for the oyster next time, be ready for my comments afterwards, until then, good bye and good luck!
