It is rarely do I bother to share my thoughts about this or other establishment.
However, this very experience last night at Fishsteria was worthy of mention for all the wrong reasons. Service, food quality and value for money were all below standard.
It almost felt like a bunch of friends decided to set up a restaurant with little or no knowledge of the food and beverage industry. It all started well with the cordial ‘good evening’ and I was immediately ushered to my table to meet up with my friend who was seated upstairs. So far so good……
We took a while to order our food as we were waiting for a third friend to join us. Once food was ordered it took almost 50 minutes for the first dish to be served. In the interim we were asked whether we would like an additional plate of bread, for which we happily agreed….that took about 15 minutes until it reached our table.
Most annoying was to see people seated later than us, were served earlier.
We ordered different courses meaning I would have a Caesar Salad as appetizer. I did order the additional Smoked Salmon as option. The portion was average served in an over designed and over sized plate. The smoked salmon was of quality and not oily. The rest of the salad was salty and soggy. Additionally it would have been great had the unprofessional team on the floor would bother to coordinate the dishes so we could eat together. (That is why friends get together)
Needless to say the rest of the meal arrived late with super market grade seafood in the risotto and a steamed vegetable plate (ridiculously small portion) with little or no imagination. Thank god the fish we ordered was decent but in disproportion to price.
We did mention to the ill trained team that we were unhappy about the service, for which we received a shy apology.
There are plenty of options in Hong Kong, this one should not be on your list!
I truly understand rent being prohibitive in Hong Kong, however it cannot be an excuse for a terribly bad dining experience.
