I just had my favorite frozen yogurt of all time, having spend time in the States, where frozen yogurt is all the craze for being yummy and healthy. I have thus far found all the frozen yogurts in Hong Kong to be lacking. It tends to be softer and less flavorsome, till now... Crumb's yogurt is simply the best, I think it is better then those chains in the States. Maybe its because of the house crumbs or its the other thoughtful toppings.
Its not innovative to have oreos on your yogurt but its the first time I have had such chunky pieces of oreos. Its little things like this that gives me an impression of passion on the parts of the owner for re-creating an already public favorite.
But let me get to the substance of my review....
It is rare for me to be surprise by food, being a foodie that I am... BUT the SCONES are what totally take the cake for me.
Those scones are simply the best tasting scones I have every tasted, better then those at Peninsula, some how they have improved on the classic scones. I tried the cheese scones first and it was just perfect. It was crusty on the outside, piping hot as its almost always freshly baked, it was moist on the inside and the it had such a rich taste. Absolutely amazing for a road side store!
I like savory food more then sweet foods, so I like the cheese scones more then the raisin scones, but I suspect for those that like a more traditional scone, the raisin version has the same virtues as the cheese. Great creation!
You get three scones for around $18-21 and you can mix and match. I think its extreme value for what you get and it certainly is significantly cheaper then any of its peers. The only think lacking is the lack of seating. But heck, if a smaller store means cheaper scones, I don't care!
The yogurt is good value, it is the cheapest in Hong Kong (I have tried all the others), the smaller cups are substantially larger then the competition with tons more topping for the same price, and the larger cups are cheaper then the competition but you get much much more. Maybe its the lack of sitting room that give them the edge, but for those interested in value, there is no challenger.
Well done. Two thumbs up!
