一睇! e???乜原來係Beard Papa Sweets果間泡芙同公司既~
第一次去見到個menu牌既拿破崙餅實在太吸引喇~
但唔知點解menu寫$12,圖就寫$14....
咁究竟係$12定$14呢?
算啦...睇個價錢都覺得好抵..

今日決定早少少去~果然!7點半去到果時我仲見到有10幾件..
哈哈..不過佢有2款啵!一款就原味千層mille-feuille$14啦,一款就脆皮mille-feuille$15都係貴一蚊..
其實..我睇到個名就好想笑...mille-feuille即係千層酥皮...唔通唔脆既??
查實佢所謂既脆皮只係面層果塊係朱古力

又未至於話放左好耐既..但crispy鬆化就一定唔係喇..一個字------""佢係好似食緊一層蓋住d custard再用一層酥皮蓋住d custard..然後四周都用酥皮碎圍住咁囉...薄到我覺得唔係千層..而係3層=.=而且都唔覺佢有用焦糖掃過


再講custard...嘩..好淡..冇牛油味..有少少旦味既..但好似仲差過我自己整果d喎..而且又唔算好smooth.vanilla seeds更加唔洗望會有啦~

不竟...佢都係$15...下次都係去食返特濃吉士puff好喇....

十二月十一日(星期五)我去旅行前的last day...與老公仔要暫別數天了...我會時時刻刻都會掛著你的!在走前吃個甜品!上次想試,不過因為當日太凍了!今日天氣比較暖,可以試試!我們選擇了mango waffle sandwich味道不錯呀!!mango很香很濃,cream很滑呢不過waffle不是脆的!有點失望!整體上都好吃的中間有朱古力!下次可以再試試其他甜品/ 奶凍..

bread papa 有新野! 係TST MTR STATION開店的CoCo Frans主打french的小甜點, 之前係蔡瀾的著作中見識過, 所以大感興趣黎試就試皇牌產品 Paris-Brest !同Bread Papa的 Puff 冇乜分別, 硬身少少, 忌廉冇咁甜同凍好多驚喜就冇乜啦...我反而鐘意Bread Papa的 Puff 多D添!朱古力皮硬左D, 朱古力唔好味 唔係用靚料囉...大失所望不過比起 Bread Papa, Coco Frans靚好多試過就算啦...都係搵返 Bread Papa 啦~

這店子新開張的第一天, 看見這裡食物很精緻, 我就買了一個新的waffle sandwich來吃... 芒果和朱古力向來都從不是失敗的一對,可是這個waffle sandwich真的不太特別waffle不是脆的, 而是有點從雪櫃拿出來的硬, 而內面是軟的大失所望... 因為這間是beard papa的化身, 只是轉了名叫coco frans而已~beard papa的puff比這個waffle sandwich來得好一點, 口感和食材的新鮮還不夠puff 好!當然, 在地鐵站開店有它的好處, 方便還有是人流多!但食物的質素還有進步的空間, 始終價錢和質素仍然不是正比~

Went here with my friend for a quick bite. Finally got the pictures from my friend!Honestly, the display at this restaurant is very attractive. Seriously, it is icy cold and I guess that's the way it is. But I do think it ought to be better. The cream is alright, a bit too creamy for me. Wish the outer surface was slightly softer.

Anyway, for me, it's ok for a quick bite, but $12-$13 for such a puff is far too expensive. It should be reduced to perhaps $8-$10. That way it'll be a better deal.

Seems like Coco Frans has introduced even more items on its Line-Up. Two things which caught my attention was a tiny moulded Lemon Cake and a Green Tea version of Canelé. This was just so moist yet dense, it was like biting on a sponge cake you accidentally dropped into a pond but picking it back up to eat! The green tea flavour was also weak, hidden within the obviously wrong dough formula.
CONGRATULATIONS COCO FRANS - This is the 1st Canelé I have never finished and threw straight into the bin after 2 bites! ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH!

PARIS BREST -
The formula on this is obviously really wrong, the pastry tasted more like a fried doughnut with sugar crust than a true Parisian Brest. The 'cruller' shaped exterior is unauthentic. The cream within is the same artificial custard they put into the Choux pastry puffs - rather than the real velvety Butter Cream with Hazelnut flavour you should find in a BREST! Nothing in this version was correct, although if you eat it as a quick snack and treat it as something else altogether, its for sure edible - it just not very good and makes me feel 對唔住法國佬! 

This version is at least 10 times worst than the one served at SAVEUR DE FRANCE! Although I haven't tried the larger version at Shangrila's Island Gourmet, from the photo that also looked authentic than the one here.

But that Green Tea Canelé..... that really was a shock!

也被之前兩位食友的食評吸引了,所以找了天來吃它一吃,除了要了一個其Signature item – Canelé外,也另要了一個Paris-Brest來吃。Canelé要十八大元一個,一個比Paris-Brest細三倍的小型糕點,但價錢比Paris-Brest的貴三份一,究竟是什麼葫蘆賣什麼藥呢?究竟為何咁值錢呢?都要吃過才知。在此也不多談Canelé了,因為之前兩位食友已經很清楚說過了,而且也指出了店家的錯誤,我對Canelé只談談個人吃吃感,此法式糕點,內裡理應用上柔軟的軟凍,要有柔軟而香的軟凍,當然用的蛋白及牛奶,與及其打泡烘培的功夫要好,今天的軟凍,沒太強蛋香,沒太強奶香,也不鬆軟,至於其表層的厚焦褐色焦糖微硬外殼又如何?對不起!其外殼一點也不硬,雖然吃得出是有焦糖的味道,但很明顯是不夠,面層一點也不脆,真的是撈過界的後果。另外也點了Paris-Brest,見大大個的Paris-Brest,也只是十二元一個,跟Bread Papa原本的泡芙一樣價錢,抵吃的也就試多件,而說回這Paris-Brest,其名字源於Paris-Brest-Paris的環形單車比賽路線,糕點的外形正正模

可能我較之前兩位食友幸運,除了試Canelé外,也點了Paris-Brest,也先不要談正宗與否,始終也是好吃的,所以在一好一OK的情況下,我決定給它第一個笑臉。

This was derived from and finalised by the 1985 Brotherhood of Canelé de Bordeaux, it in turn originating from the original Canauliers! Needless to say I was quite confused with this myself as everywhere I went including here and even Monsieur Ch

Needless to say I was quite confused with this myself as everywhere I went including here and even Monsieur Chatte and numerous other places spells it differently and I even mispelt it myself on occasions, but after some discussion with Foodiewil to ask for his opinion and we arrived at this conclusion just recently!
Note that the majority of Recipe Books and even French native speakers get this bit wrong - some even spelling it as Canelle! As a fun side note - Debauve et Gallais spells it correctly but apart from their Canelé, they also carry a Cannelle, made with cinnamons!

Canelé - The version here isn't what I enjoy eating though... The authentic version should have a very dark, crusty, thickish and slightly bitter and burnt tasting exterior. The middle should consist of a very strong eggy and vanilla centre that's slightly 'chewy' yet soft at the same time. Its bittersweet caramelised taste is the perfect companion to a coffee!
The version at Coco Frans (Beard Papa) misses the mark by a mile. Its not crusty enough, and its not chewily-soft enough, it also lacks the eggy and rum taste. This tasted more like a Financier! I was kinda disappointed as after reading Jason.Bonvivant's review below, I booked a private MTR to come try it out in no time
- but he was right in saying this wasn't too good!

They also sell Mille-Feuille and Paris Brests here, similar to the main Beard Papa outlets - I think I mentioned somewhere already, that their Brest's taste isn't very authentically good either, especially the cream part. I felt a bit disappointed to have these sorts of qualities coming from a Japanese franchise, to be honest. *_*'
FINGERS CROSSED - When Thomas Haas opens his Chocolate Shop in Hong Kong finally in September, we'll have more French or Western dessert goodies available, instead of needing to have a full meal at Caprice or Pierre to get the Michelin Pastries Experience!

Recent renovation at the TST MTR station has added a few new food outlets, right opposite from the ticketing machines and the Hang Seng ATMs. This AREA is a common meeting point (or any Hang Seng ATM at ALL MTR stations for that matter!) and a GREAT location for food and beverages businesses due to heavy pedestrian traffic plus countless "idle" pedestrians waiting for friends. I was waiting for my cousin who was stuck in traffic due to the closure of streets from the heavy rain all day long. I c

I waited for about 45 mins, I wandered around this area for 45 mins, I observed the business traffic of this new quick snack outlet named Cocofrans for 45 mins, I debated with myself for 45 mins on whether I should purchase one to try and at the end I lost to my foodie temptation!!!
I still don't quite understand the power of such snacks because even for those who were in a rush (literally jogging towards the exit), I saw with my own eyes that they would make a sudden stop and take a peek at the offerings. Some would resume their rush while many would buy one and continue their rush. Amazing indeed. (the same scenario applies to the newly opened Mrs. Fields Cookies nearby)
Based on the famous paper figure standing near the store front, it is somehow related to the Beard Papa's franchise, well known for its cream puffs. While it belongs to the Beard Papa's franchise, according to its website, Cocofrans only has a few special items under its unique brand but what are being offered here at this outlet seem to be crossing or mixing with the traditional Beard Papa's offerings which include special custard puffs along with the new and improved type of Beard's cream puffs. My temptation did not make me order any custard or puff items but instead I ordered the canelé. (I think they spell it different on the menu ... humm ... maybe "Canelle" but it means Cinnamon in French ... humm ... have to double check on that one).
(1) Canelé
This item was on one of the main overhead boards which I assumed is a signature item. (the fact that each Canelé was wrapped with pretty paper ribbon made it very special as well, so it seems) However, from my 45 mins of wandering around this store, the popular items were the custard and cream puffs. A traditional canelé should have a soft custard-like center and a caramelized outer layer, if I remember correctly. While the caramelized layer was there, for some reasons, I don't think the center was soft or custard-like, it was evenly firm throughout. Maybe a fusion version? or was it because it was chilled in the fridge for too long?

* Good service actually, very welcoming
* Open-window / workshop style
Dislikes:
* Canelé - a bit over chilled and the center was not soft and custard-like
Avg Spending: Below HKD 100 per person
