在團購買了$288/二人套餐, 今天就一家三口去試.... BOOK咗6:30PM, 點知6:00左右已去到中環, 逛了一會, 雖然未夠鐘, 但條街實在太熱, 所以還是提早了10分鐘去到..上到去, 無客, 我哋係第一枱(梗係, 開6點, 我哋仲要早到), 坐門口旁邊位置比較熱, 一坐低就有杯茶, 仲有一套小朋友餐具添, 之後待應就問我哋係咪有團購, 因為我都唔記得有D乜, 想再加其他嘢, 個女待應都好有耐性咁講解十道菜... 無幾耐, 就有前菜到啦...車厘茄菜沙律, 螺肉, 烏絲+蘿白絲老公一見到, 就講話等陣應該要去補食個雲吞麵... 份量確是比較少, 且螺肉都係叫貨嗰D, 無咩特別.... 鐵板燒大蝦+磯鮑其實都無咩特別, 新鮮就可以了, 不過我覺得唔夠熱, 可能由廚房出到黎都有一段路的原因吧...燒銀鱈魚不過真係估唔到, 竟然都有兩件, 好味...露筍牛肉卷+炒野菜因為我哋兩老婆都唔食牛, 所以無食到牛, 只食咗入面嗰3條露筍, 不過我相信應該幾好味, 因為入面仲有芝士, 炒野菜就無特別.. 麵豉湯都係一般開水的日本麵豉湯, 加D豆腐同海帶...海膽炒飯有一堆海膽放飯面,

之後待應就問我哋係咪有團購, 因為我都唔記得有D乜, 想再加其他嘢, 個女待應都好有耐性咁講解十道菜... 無幾耐, 就有前菜到啦...

車厘茄菜沙律, 螺肉, 烏絲+蘿白絲
老公一見到, 就講話等陣應該要去補食個雲吞麵... 份量確是比較少, 且螺肉都係叫貨嗰D, 無咩特別....

鐵板燒大蝦+磯鮑
其實都無咩特別, 新鮮就可以了, 不過我覺得唔夠熱, 可能由廚房出到黎都有一段路的原因吧...

燒銀鱈魚
不過真係估唔到, 竟然都有兩件, 好味...

露筍牛肉卷+炒野菜
因為我哋兩老婆都唔食牛, 所以無食到牛, 只食咗入面嗰3條露筍, 不過我相信應該幾好味, 因為入面仲有芝士, 炒野菜就無特別..

麵豉湯
都係一般開水的日本麵豉湯, 加D豆腐同海帶...

海膽炒飯
有一堆海膽放飯面, 一併食落都幾好味, 但我食過海膽炒飯, 如果加D蚧肉同蚧子炒會仲有口感, 仲好味...

食埋個飯後甜品--生果後, 我老公都竟然話飽啦, 我哋一開始仲以為會好少份量, 要再去補食其他嘢添..

唔知係咪之前有太多人係OPENRICE投訴呢, 所以店舖係服務同菜式方面有所改善, 我同老公都認為$288食到呢餐, 確實是超值,

哈, 因為未試過唔駛俾錢就出門口, 問女待應係咪可以.... 我都未講完, 佢就答"係呀, 可以架啦".. 真醒目, 不過走嗰時都有D唔好意思.....


整體來說, 如果用$288食呢個二人套餐都好抵, 但如果用原價食餐牌上的套餐或其他, 就真係好貴, 因為唔係太突出好食....

早2個月前上網見到$288鐵板二人大餐優惠劵,見到好吸引於是就買左。o黎食之前睇過openrice的食評好差,但都買左,點都要去食。去到之後,見到個場比我感覺幾靚有d高級,拍拖傾計就最合適,尼一點可以加分。坐底左之後待應立即送上熱茶。之後再送上前菜----無特別沙律----好新鮮,伴上芝麻醬好醒胃終於到主角o黎啦大蝦----冇我想像中咁大隻,不過味道好香好爽,值得一讚鮑魚----上網睇左d相好似魷魚一片片,但我地係一粒粒,感覺良好銀鱈魚----意想不到的驚喜,因為每人有2件,肉質好滑,味道好好芝士牛肉卷同炒菜-----普通小弟都係中意傳統牛肉蔥蒜卷海膽炒飯----我好奇問侍應點解d海膽係生既點解唔係一齊炒,佢解說熟左會冇味,生海膽撈埋d飯一齊食,真係鮮味好多,又學識一種食法。整體而言如果用$288可以食到這些食材總算不錯,順帶一提,原來這間餐廳的賣點是天婦良!

早2個月前上網見到$288鐵板二人大餐優惠劵,見到好吸引於是就買左。
o黎食之前睇過openrice的食評好差,但都買左,點都要去食。
去到之後,見到個場比我感覺幾靚有d高級,拍拖傾計就最合適,尼一點可以加分。

沙律----好新鮮,伴上芝麻醬好醒胃
終於到主角o黎啦

大蝦----冇我想像中咁大隻,不過味道好香好爽,值得一讚

鮑魚----上網睇左d相好似魷魚一片片,但我地係一粒粒,感覺良好

整體而言如果用$288可以食到這些食材總算不錯,順帶一提,原來這間餐廳的賣點是天婦良!

We used the groupon coupon for this dinner, but turned out it was a hoax. $288 for a 10-dish meal for 2 people means several small dishes of food which is totally not enough for 2 people. The attitude of how they do business counts!! BLACKLISTED.

南非鮑魚 (80g – 100g): 說真的, 我是回家看COUPON介紹才醒覺這個套餐賣點是鮑魚, 因為印象中根本沒有吃過鮑魚, 後來看照片才驚覺, 那一堆狀似魷魚的圓型薄片, 就是所謂的南非鮑魚, 認真失覺!

韓國海膽炒飯: 以前也吃過海膽, 不知韓國的原來這麼難吃? 狀似漿糊, 比在超市買的更難吃, 炒飯也不外如是

是日餐湯: 就是味噌湯, 反而是我頗欣賞的一道菜呢

自家製甜品: 阿華田慕思, 質感只算一般, 不大出色

我想會讓人失望是因為廣告詞寫得太好, 讓大家有高期待: 「只需 $288,就可以享用 2 人豪華晚餐,10 道正宗鐵板燒包括南非鮑魚、韓國海膽炒飯等等,讓您開懷大吃! 4 位大廚,全部來自不同高級食府。各人除了技巧高超,更有源源不絕的創意和熱誠,務求以最優惠的價錢把時令、優質的食材呈獻給顧客,帶來五星級的享受。餐廳裝潢優雅,配上落地玻璃窗設計,讓中環半山夜景盡收眼簾。無論味覺、嗅覺、視覺都會為您帶來極致的享受。」文中提及10道菜, 當然期望最少有10個碟, 像一般日韓料理等, 大堆頭, 份量小小, 讓人眼睛先吃飽嘛, 但事實是雷聲大雨點小。

看過他們的menu, 晚餐套餐要$550, 就這次的食物水準, 我對他們的信心不會很高呢~

一心希望同朋友仔食餐好的,因為想坐window seat,所以早兩星期前已經打電話預約好今晚去食晚飯。點知今晚同朋友仔老遠出到中環,鐵板燒就食唔到,換lei ge係食閉門羹!!!!!在餐廳樓下還聽人說它最近星期日休息!!! 實在係太離譜,無諗過呢件事會發生係一間「高級餐廳」上,我地無收過仕何電話通知,結果白行一趟,真係好掃興!

I know i have previously given a (sort of raving) positive review about Saikou about a month or two back, as one of my favourite lunch spots in Central for sushi... If only I could write this post having the same positive views... ! I arrived at Saikou today with my brother, hoping to introduce him to this place I used to to like. Without the 20% discount for after 1.45pm arrivals, it seemed a lot more expensive for what they give you. We hesitated at first, but finally decided to go for the pic

I arrived at Saikou today with my brother, hoping to introduce him to this place I used to to like. Without the 20% discount for after 1.45pm arrivals, it seemed a lot more expensive for what they give you. We hesitated at first, but finally decided to go for the pick-your own Tempura Set ($220) and the Sushi Platter ($190).

The usual starters of steamed chawanmushi, salad and mini stewed dish arrived. Apart from the salad being absolutely drenched in sesame dressing things seemed fine.

Shortly after, the tempura set arrived. For this tempura set, you get to choose 6 from 12 items on a tick-sheet, 1 of 4 stewed dishes and a noodle or rice dish. We chose local live prawn, whiting, white fish, mantis shrimp, the chef's recommendation and beancurd sheet with shrimp paste. The batter for these were alright except I would've liked them more if it were a little more browned (some were pretty white).

The beef and potato stew was alright - the broth was lightly salty, beef was on the lean side, but quite homey. Carrots and potatoes were tender enough.

somen noodles were slightly too soft and of a small portion but the condiments and tsuyu that came with it was alright

The sushi plate was honestly the saddest i've had since i can remember... from the bottom right, lean tuna, snapper, two tilapia fillets, half a scallop, a piece from a futomaki roll, lean tuna gunkan, uni gunkan, ark shell, sweet shrimp and sweet tamago.
If the plate from my last visit was worth the $190, this plate should technically be half that or less... The tuna pieces were awfully bloody in taste, the doubling of the cheaper tilapia fish was cheeky, the seaweed on the gunkan rolls were limp and even slightly wet. If these aren't bad enough of examples, see the rice in the photo below?

Now i remember mentioning the fat and round rice morsels which came with the chirashi and sushi last time, but these were no where to be seen. instead, here is some anemic-looking grains, with each sushi rice being of a different shape and size... c'mon, any sushi-making beginner could do better after one class. either it was not a proper sushi chef who had prepared this plate or a sushi chef did so blindfolded.

udon in a hot broth was slightly too salty and as usual, noodles way too soft.

Dessert was some 'chocolate pudding' which was more like 'ovaltine pudding', and my brother said it tasted like chocolate processed cheese cubes - i have no idea where he got that from but i suppose he meant it negatively.
Honestly i was incredibly disappointed with Saikou. After getting the bill (with service, about $450) I reflected my thoughts to the manager, who said i couldn't expect anymore since they stopped importing from their old suppliers near the Fukushima nuclear plant. really? because other restaurants have continued to get their supply from other parts of japan and remain in (if not top) good quality. Saikou now sources from places like Taiwan and Korea, with only a couple items from Hokkaido, and later will stop serving raw items with their menu prices reduced for other items. It sounds to me like they're headed for the worst when they don't have to, and they should have already cut out the raw items if they cannot continue providing quality fish for the prices they charge.

Ordered a set lunch that took an extremely long time to arrive, around 45min!!! Not sure what went wrong. Even the sushi chef was complaining to the staff for the long delay. What was worse though is that the assistant manager handled the situation rather poorly, not even offering a discount or a cancellation of the service charge, but insisting the full price had to be paid, despite the above. In the end, it is not the money that mattered but the poor service that left a very bad impression.

An unfortunate and extremely disappointing experience indeed

The best thing about Saikou is the openness and airiness created by the large windows overlooking the Hong Kong Botanical Gardens, and the sunlight slanting in quietly. Lots of greenery. Saturday lunches are rather quiet, and if you are in rowdy company, I'd advise you against dining here. Everyone was talking in hushed voices, almost.

Appetizer: Cooked, sliced lotus in sesame and chili? marinate. The lotus chips (well not exactly, coz they weren't deep fried) were crunchy and slightly spicy. Could make this at home, served warm or cold.
Salad: a mixture of greens. Fresh, but not amazing at all. 2 pieces of duck breast perched on top, drizzled with a sesame dressing which tasted like something we have at home, only tampered with. Average.
Steamed egg: average. Eggy and smooth, kind of like tofu fa.
Miso soup beware: BIG CLAM INSIDE!

I had this. Compliments: oily cod was fresh and juicy, almost sweet. Hot. Loved the rice. Not sticky but moist and chewy - precisely what I wanted with my cod. The rice came out hot too. Loved the mayo too - did they do something with it? It was slightly more flavorful than usual. The skin I consumed as well because it was thin and crisp, not slimy. Criticisms: would've liked my cod a bit more charred. I like charred fish, especially when it's crisp and brings out the flavour.

I like the idea of serving food in the pot they were cooked. All the juices are inside and it keeps heat. The pot is heavy and it looks like you can scrape pot stickers off the bottom, which in my opinion, is the yummiest part.
The juice and the thinly sliced onions were delicious, soaking up all the sauce. I helped myself to them greedily. You could taste pretty strong ginger, but it did not choke, just added a bit of heat to the mouth. Sadly, the pork wasn't as soft as I had hoped. Slightly stringy and difficult to chew through - I made a conscious effort to avoid all the fatty and stringy bits.

M had this. I did not try this because I still haven't resolved my aversion towards raw meat. (@@) But according to her: toro, shrimp, salmon, roe, diced fatty tuna, finely chopped spring onion, freshly ground wasabi paste (not wasabi powder+water). Good portion for ladies. 'There's actually more sashimi than rice!' Good deal.

D had this. I did not try either. Not sure why I didn't get to try hmm. Anyway the salmon was almost seared, not grilled. Half-cooked i.e. good stuff, very fresh. Portion insufficient for a growing man in his mid 20s.

This is not my idea of dessert. The fruits were mildly sweet and the tangerine was almost sour.
I would've preferred something sweet, like green tea/black sesame ice cream, or some pudding. Hmph.


Conclusion:
This is not entirely what I'd call a cheap place for lunch so I will not visit often. But if there's a special occasion and I want to go somewhere near, quiet for a Japanese Saturday lunch then this might be a good choice.

滯滯的天婦羅御膳本來被寄予厚望,叫得御膳,總該有些特別之處,結果卻是平平無奇。海鮮有沙追魚和花竹蝦,蔬菜則有南瓜日本菇和粟米仔,都是些常見的食材。魚肉不怎麼嫩滑,花竹蝦還算彈牙新鮮,炸漿確實是薄而酥脆,油份也較少,但奇怪的是沒有醬汁搭配,難道要淨吃不成?老實說齋吃真的寡了點,最後都是令叫了一小碟醬來點著吃。

反觀小H的平民版什錦天婦羅飯卻好味的多,價錢便宜用料卻只是少了一條魚,最重要是醬汁是直接落在天婦羅上的,吸收了醬汁鮮甜的天婦羅更惹味,雖然被醬汁浸了少許的炸漿酥脆度有損,但如及時入口其實影響也不大,而且絕對更香口下飯。我最喜歡外酥內軟的炸茄子(真是沒啥品味…),配上甜甜的醬汁再加一口香噴噴的白飯,簡直忘了自己在吃日本料理了,罪過罪過…

三個套餐還不夠過癮,嘴饞的我們仨又加了一客芝士紫蘇葉卷天婦羅和一客天婦羅蠔,外加一碟軟殼蟹手卷。小H怕紫蘇葉的香味,我就很喜愛這種香氣,很像小時候吃的太陽牌五香鍋巴調味粉,頗有幾分親切感;芝士柔軟奶香濃郁,裹上辛香提味的紫蘇葉,實在很好吃。

I want to talk about my latest lunch visit. The place has become extremely crowded with rushed service.
We sat in the teppanyaki room and ordered a lunch set each (around $230). The steak was very good (US type) but the seafood was not very fresh. They offer a lot of wagyu beef for teppanyaki but I am not a fan of wagyu. Overall the portions were a little small although I remember the tempura sets were quite filling.
The other thing I was not impressed about is the unprofessional teppanyaki chefs. The timing and skill was very poor. If I knew this I would prefer not to sit in front of him!!!!

Still an OK restaurant to go to and will go there for dinner again for the tempura but will think twice about lunch.

外面咸咸的用鹽水煮的吧~~~~裡面的豆脆脆的~~~超有豆味~~~正~~~
上面左超是鴨胸,蟹籽撈蝦和螺肉

刺身﹕五款刺身分別為立魚、秋刀魚、金目鯛、牡丹蝦同拖羅。先食立魚,一片片又白又薄嘅立魚,配上蔥花同辣蘿蔔絲去食,雖然魚本身冇咩魚味,但個口感就好得意。佢雖然被切到好薄,但就好堅韌,好有彈口!秋刀魚就好有魚味,經理話有啲人會嫌佢腥,但我就好鍾意食!配上指定嘅蔥花同薑可能有助辟腥,但就會掩蓋咗個魚味,所以,我都係鍾意就咁食!金目鯛又係冇咩魚味,不過就叫做幾厚身,係五樣之中,最普通嘅。牡丹蝦係中size,唔係我食過最大件嘅蝦刺身,但呢隻已經俾出面好多舖頭大隻架喇,而且好新鮮,食到隻蝦本身嘅清甜味!(出面好多啲蝦都唔夠新鮮,食落去嘅「甜」完全唔係嗰回事!以為個牡丹蝦已經係全晚highlight啦,點知個拖羅仲正!好肥美,真係又厚又肥又正!一食落去,即刻feel到內裡嘅脂肪慢慢滲出嚟,好味到癲!當然,再好食嘅一定會有,尤其之前喺都市日報見到「銀座鮨久」嗰一塊脂肪分佈都仲均勻,睇到都想食。呢塊真係冇得同人比,但我而家係以$550嘅dinner set價錢去食,食到呢塊真係已經值番哂啦我覺得!
吸物﹕本日清湯為硯湯,一打開個蓋已經見到兩大隻硯,好肥美!我好欣賞呢度用料十足,雖然係set dinner,但絕對唔會hea你,蠔,俾隻肥嘅你!刺身,又俾肥美嘅你!就連跟湯嘅硯,都係又大又肥嘅,$550一個set,真係超值!
卷物﹕上完湯,就上我哋另叫嘅鰻魚牛油果切卷,$70 6件真係唔平,不過比我哋想像中多架喇。可惜,呢碟卷物唔好食……首先,鰻魚同牛油果唔夾,一齊食個感覺怪怪咁。其次就係啲飯太爛太濕,師傅又切得唔靚,呢碟嘢收$70真係唔太值!
煮物﹕松葉蟹肉煮野菜,呢碟我冇食,不予置評。拾爺就話ok。
Tempura﹕有五件炸物,其中餐牌有嘅帆立貝海膽卷唔知點解換咗做多骨魚……事後先知,想出聲都唔得喇……條魚太多骨,我咬咗一啖就俾拾爺包底喇!反而紫蘇葉包白飯魚幾好味,而且waitress叫我哋點咖喱鹽嚟食,個感覺好得意。出面食親天婦羅,多數都係點蘿蔔絲醬油,好少好似呢間咁俾咁多選擇我哋!除咗醬油同咖哩鹽,仲有普通鹽同檸檬。野菜炸物係我至愛嘅日本南瓜,鍾意日本南瓜嘅硬身,一啲都唔怕粉!師傅炸得好脆,如果落少啲鹽就仲好喇!炸蝦亦係唔錯嘅炸物,平時食親嘅,都係「梅」蝦,今次呢隻啲肉好彈,唔理佢係用新鮮蝦定係用咗某些方法令佢彈啦,都叫好食過出面大部份餐廳!最後嘅舞茸我冇食到,拾爺話好脆但冇味。
冷物﹕呢個凍日本蕃茄唔止賣相吸引,味道仲唔錯。唔怕好酸,味道清淡,再配上鹽嚟食,幾開胃!不過,略嫌啲鹽落得太多,如果少啲冇咁鹹就perfect喇!
鐵板﹕先上我哋side order嘅鵝肝,menu有兩種鵝肝,一種係兩片嘅,另一樣係四件鵝肝多士,我哋揀咗前者,但原來都係跟多士架!鵝肝煎得幾香,不過都係太熟,溶於口中嘅比例太少……而且面層落咗好多鹽,好鹹!睇嚟呢度嘅師傅出手都幾重,幾樣嘢,我同拾爺都覺得過鹹!食完我哋個side order,waitress就正式上set入面嘅鐵板食物,先嚟餐牌冇嘅飽魚,嚮螺變飽魚,係賺家蝕呢﹖唔理喇,最緊要好食!其實飽魚本身都冇味嘅,好唔好食就要睇師傅調味功力喇,而今次……仍然未能令我同拾爺愛上食飽魚。跟住嘅和牛薄燒就連埋茄子同菇一齊上。先講個和牛,一個字 -- 正!雖然牛味唔算好重,但師傅燒到一面生一面熟,和牛入口後,開始溶喺口中,嗰種感覺真係好幸福!我唔知呢個set用咗乜嘢和牛,唔理係貴嘢定係平嘢,做到呢個效果已經值得讚賞!
食事﹕牛肉、白松露炒飯係以碗上嘅,老實講,咁上法唔太大體!不過,白松露真係好香,碗飯一上枱,啲香味已經吸引到你好想即刻起筷。只係……食咗一啖就開始失望……炒飯乾身係正常,但乾到好似所有水份都被搾乾會唔會太過﹖而且啲牛肉粒好「韌」……食緊牛肉、白松露炒飯時,我哋散叫嘅海膽炒飯都上埋喇,$98一碗飯,聽落好貴,但人哋又真係俾唔少海膽出嚟嘅,好過出面某啲餐廳賣你幾十蚊但俾得一、兩小塊!海膽唔怕腥,但絕不鮮甜!
甘味﹕Waitress問我哋要雪糕定水果時,我諗都唔諗就要雪糕!佢再問我哋要咩味時,我就問佢係咪只有一個,因為我哋只係叫咗一個set,waitress好好,話送多杯俾老公食,yeah!最後,我哋要咗柚子同綠茶味。前者清香,後者甘甜,為呢餐畫上完美句號。
再一次盛讚呢度嘅service,斟茶次數好密,一見妳張枱有污積即抹,詳細講解食物配邊種汁俾妳聽,啲waitresses真係好nice!
