一踏進Verandah就感覺到一種和其他5星酒店不同的高貴氣氛。食物放在近面口,而位子就在兩邊。食物種類不算最多,不過貴精不貴多!生蠔是廚師即開的,有2款,沒有限制每次拿幾隻所以也要等一會,有不少人要12隻😓刺身是切好的讓人自己拿,居然有劍魚!沒有在其實buffet見過呢!很肥美~好好吃壽司精緻小巧,很吸引~Parma ham/salami有好幾款~其他的食物也很好~甜品中有個爆谷機,好得意。新鮮生果也有好幾款,仲有草莓,藍莓~見到隔離有梳乎厘食,原來要order的。送上枱時,依然是高高的,沒有下陷😜雖然價錢不便宜,但可以在優雅環境下吃到其他地方少有個食物,也蠻值得的~

甜品中有個爆谷機,好得意。新鮮生果也有好幾款,仲有草莓,藍莓~

見到隔離有梳乎厘食,原來要order的。送上枱時,依然是高高的,沒有下陷😜

雖然價錢不便宜,但可以在優雅環境下吃到其他地方少有個食物,也蠻值得的~

We have 6-7 people, happy dinner gathering. That was my first time having buffet at Peninsula, tried once for brunch at the Repulse Bay one. Nice place, very comfortable decoration.  Big area of seafood serving scallops, shrimps, crabs, fresh and sweet; especially the scallops and crabs.....next to it is the Japanese corner serving Sashimi, salmon, tuna sushi and some rolls. Not having hundred of varieties but high quality ones.

Cheese
if you like cheese, you will be very happy.

The quality of hot dishes was very good too. I tried the roasted beef, lamb and some others, all are quite delicious.

Dessert is something you can't miss there. Ice-cream, I think we had 2 scoops each, plus cheese cakes, chocolate cakes....and they served everyone souffle

中午朋友聚會去作半島的露台餐廳 The Verandah價格$428+$98+10%尖沙咀彌敦道19-21號半島酒店1樓食物品種很少,味道一般壽司有圖可見,不夠新鮮刺身只有幾個品種,還不夠新鮮,一點都不鮮甜.生蠔只有一個品種,也不夠新鮮,師傅在開時有約10%的變質丟棄.其它的打開了也不肥美、不鮮甜!建議大家一至四的午餐就別去了

呢度供應美國同法國兩種生蠔,非常鮮甜又不會太咸,我一食就食左十幾隻!仲有青口,螺,蟹蚶,不得不提佢地既亞拉斯加長腳蟹,鮮甜多汁,最讚就係佢地d長腳蟹同蟹蚶已預先剪開,更加方便人去食~之後去到壽司刺身吧,哇!淨係睇見都吸引!
有三文魚,劍魚,吞拿魚,魷魚,大蝦,甜蝦,北寄貝,全部都勁新鮮!仲有佢地d帶子刺身係大大粒ga!另外,平時我食buffet一般都吾會食壽司,因為太普通同浪費左胃既quota,不過呢度d壽司就吾同,有我最鐘意既燒比目魚壽司,充滿油香,正!
其他壽司都好好味,佢d壽司飯握得細細件,吾洗怕太大舊飯食完好飽~
之後就到沙律冷盤~有水牛芝士,煙三文魚,鴨肉醬,芝士,龍蝦沙律同好多吾同既橄欖等,全部都好好味
佢地d沙律菜,淨係醬料,醋同橄欖油都有幾款俾人揀~不過反而對d parma ham幾失望,因為真係好一般
之後,食左咁多生冷野,係時候食返d熱食la!熱食款式不多同比較普通,反而令我最欣賞係個燒牛肉!肉汁濃又嫩,再配埋新鮮整起既yorkshire pudding同燒汁一齊食,好好味呀
仲有個即煎玉米餅配磨茹汁,都好正ar~之後侍應會每人送上一支鵝肝醬餅筒,呢個真係估吾到會咁好味lo!

最後,係時候要開動我第二個胃進攻我最愛既甜品la
甜品方面大概有十幾款,我最推介有麵包布甸,mango pudding,煙煙un un既椰汁薏米pudding,好香脆既開心果味千層酥,南瓜吉士蛋布甸,葡tart,cheese cake外表平凡但入口勁得
,朱古力脆米蛋糕,藍莓tart,仲有我最愛既macaron ar~半島出品既macaron果然有質素(雖然點都取代吾到Laduree響我心中既地位),但以洒店黎講就肯定係最好!另外仲有cup cake,earl grey味曲奇,朱古力等,大部分都係好好味!!
之後食左個rasberry味同檸檬味雪芭,酸酸地好開胃ar~生果方面d士多啤梨好得,粒粒都又大又甜ga!跟住,侍應送黎每人一個即焗梳乎里,裡面d蛋白打得好好,好香,食落真係好似陣空氣咁,yummy!!
最後叫左杯cappuccio作為呢餐既終結,咖啡沖得好香滑,跟飲品送上左兩粒朱古力,竟然係冬蔭公味朱古力lo!
食落辣辣地都幾特別~~
開心同relax嘅時間真係過得好快,呢餐真係令我回味無窮呢!
不過經過今日呢餐勁食既buffet後,睇黎黎緊呢幾日都真係要食清d keep下fit先得la!haha~~

Strawberry Roll $68: 7分, 先來的是Strawberry Roll, 單計賣相, 是做得幾細緻的. 忌廉是幾細滑的, 士多啤梨味道鮮甜, 蛋糕夠濕潤, 帶蛋香, 但本身質感不夠鬆軟, 畢竟城中有不少做卷蛋做得相當精彩的店子, 是日吃到的Strawberry Roll就被比下去了.

Tiramisu $68: 7分, 至於tiramisu方面, 層次分明, 帶點濕潤, mascarpone芝士是幾香的, 但就沒有咖啡酒香. 欠酒香的tiramisu, 怎也是有點缺欠的.

或許甜點的水準未算最高, 但計及這裡的環境, 氣氛, 格調, 還是一個相當適合情侶們前來拍拖的好地方. 價位方面, 埋單每人$150, 以半島的級數來講, 實是相當合理. 假若你在今個週末還沒有想到跟愛人往那裡相聚, 不妨前來這裡, 過一個浪漫的下午.

This was the first time I dined at the legendary Peninsula Hotel and the ambiance at The Verandah did not disappoint. It was everything you would expect, from the plushly carpeted staircase to the smart, elegant dining room. It felt spacious and private, unlike many other hotel buffet venues, and undeniably romantic. In fact, we were witnesses to a marriage proposal! This was the first time I dined at the legendary Peninsula Hotel and the ambiance at The Verandah did not disappoint. It was everything you would expect, from the plushly carpeted staircase to the smart, elegant dining room. It felt spacious and private, unlike many other hotel buffet venues, and undeniably romantic. In fact, we were witnesses to a marriage proposal! But we were there for the food and less about making life-long plans, so onto the spread...

I'm going to state right away the highlight of the buffet here is definitely the desserts. So leave half your stomach for the sweets, which that night included mango sticky rice (Thai cuisine is featured at the buffet at the moment), pistachio mille feuille, cheesecake, sacher torte, mango pudding, four flavors of ice cream, succulent strawberries, and countless others. I don't have the biggest sweet tooth so for me to eat two plateful of desserts here is really vouching for their quality. I mean, how bad could it be when the hotel has its own CHOCOLATE ROOM??? We later learned you could get a tour of the room and the kitchen if you're dining at the chef table at Gaddi's, the restaurant upstairs. Someone please take me.

You will also be served a lemon souffle at the end of the meal, but I would skip it. Not being the biggest fan of souffles, I thought it was too sweet and tasted too heavily of egg whites. But maybe that's just a personal preference.

Other highlights include the decently fresh sashimi, the salad selection which presents you with 8 different olive oil and balsamic vinegars to choose, and the cheeses. The hot food selection -- featuring some roasts, made-to-order ravioli, and some Thai dishes -- was small and not too memorable. I didn't have much of it at all. I had a gift certificate for that night, but I think the normal dinner price is around the order of $698. I personally think it's a bit pricey (let's face it.... buffets never serve the top-notch stuff) but may be worth it for a special occasion when atmosphere is the focus.

Saving the best for last.... My favourite of the entire evening is the tom yum kung (a Thai spicy and sour soup) flavoured chocolate truffle served at the end with coffee. I know it sounds so strange but it really works! I can't explain but it just does, and definitely had that spicy kick in the end like after taking a slurp of the soup. It was a limited version made to complement the Thai theme, so unfortunately we were unable to purchase more. I wonder if they would make a tikka masala one for an Indian theme one day, or zaatar flavoured one for Middle Eastern?

buffet 12:00開始,我地11:45到達,但時間併無白費,因為周圍嘅decoration 已經令我地忘記左等待嘅時間。入座後,侍應好細心講解價錢包括啲咩,有個甜品,beverage ,drink,又好細心幫我地圍餐巾。好,出動。。。。。首先,當然要食即開生蠔啦,廚師為左新鮮,唔會一開始就開定好多,蠔身都偏溥,但海水味十足,好鮮呀,唔係浸鹹水個種。之後冷盤。長腳蟹一早已經cut左一半,用义就可以容易食到。scallops ,三文魚,北寄背都好新鮮,而且肉質好厚。最驚喜係蟹鉗,平時食解鉗會覺得cut黎cut去都cut唔到啲肉,但係今次酒店已經將啲肉一早處理好,基本上咬落去已經淡淡肉,滿足哂我鐘意食蟹腳心理。沙律,所有都係organic ,好脆,而且好多dressing 俾你落,mango yogurt 係我最愛,酸酸的,好開胃。另外還有一些新鮮水果,除了平價的西瓜,哈蜜瓜外,還有貴價的blueberry,raspberry and strawberry ,而且每一種都係甜的熱食都係一般,有pasta, rice, curry 甜品, 聽講半島甜品好出名,今次真係一試難忘。marca

首先,當然要食即開生蠔啦,廚師為左新鮮,唔會一開始就開定好多,蠔身都偏溥,但海水味十足,好鮮呀,唔係浸鹹水個種。


之後冷盤。長腳蟹一早已經cut左一半,用义就可以容易食到。scallops ,三文魚,北寄背都好新鮮,而且肉質好厚。最驚喜係蟹鉗,平時食解鉗會覺得cut黎cut去都cut唔到啲肉,但係今次酒店已經將啲肉一早處理好,基本上咬落去已經淡淡肉,滿足哂我鐘意食蟹腳心理。

沙律,所有都係organic ,好脆,而且好多dressing 俾你落,mango yogurt 係我最愛,酸酸的,好開胃。另外還有一些新鮮水果,除了平價的西瓜,哈蜜瓜外,還有貴價的blueberry,raspberry and strawberry ,而且每一種都係甜的


熱食都係一般,有pasta, rice, curry

甜品, 聽講半島甜品好出名,今次真係一試難忘。marcaoo 好鬆軟,又唔會太甜太膩。chocolate cake好有texture,細細件,剛剛好。new york cheese cake,芝士做到入口即溶嘅感覺。葡撻雖然係預先整好,但唔知點解,都可以keep住熱。雪糕係自家制,有幾種味,chocolate ,lemon, strawberry , mango。

中途,waitress會每張台派一些食物,今次有鵝肝,熱情果疏fu你。

雖然要lunch要600一位,但食物質素已經值回票價

半島酒店係人生必到的地方,終於等到這日的來臨。老公一早Book定The Verandah的自助午餐,陪我放假一起歡度情人節。雖然情人節,The Verandah沒有開天殺價;價錢都係比平時貴百多元及停用信用咭優惠。當日準時12時到達,進入半島的大堂,即時的感覺並不如原先以為的奢華,大堂的設計並沒有近年落成的五星級酒店的標準設計:超高樓底大堂、落地玻璃幕牆;反而是一種傳統的英式設計,帶給人一種高貴優雅的氣派。裝修雖然不是金碧輝煌,但仍然給人感受到酒店的級數。走上一道寛倘的樓梯(很有英式宮廷設計的感覺,簡約而高貴),終於到達 The Verandah。餐廳設計懷舊,樓底高並且懸掛著一把把裝飾用的銅製吊扇,貫徹半島的英式傳統裝修設計風格。即使是侍應的服飾也傳承英式殖民時代的風格:女侍應身穿米白色外套及深色及膝長裙!侍應引領下,被安排坐於窗口角位,可惜被𥦬簾布掩住個靚景。初初以為full booking,靚位已被reserve;過了一會,沒有太多食客,終於忍不住問侍應可否轉位,ok 冇問題!原來幸福係要爭取!!心情轉好,特別欣賞放在枱上的獅子仔擺設,好有新年氣氛,真係想帶它回家!窗外景色一般,

窗外景色一般,由於The Verandah位於一樓,前面被太空館及文化中心遮擋。如果時光倒流到半島酒店開張時,相信前面沒有仼何遮擋的無敵維多利亞港海景!。

一坐下,侍應便放下麵包籃,暖暖的,份量有4款。理應好好,可惜食自助餐習慣先食幾個round的冷盤刺食,之後才飲湯及熟食(我估好多港人跟我一樣)。結果,經過冷盤大戰後,麵包已經放冷。只有熱的麵包才吸引,最後只食了一點點,浪費了大部分的麵包籃。

老公好奇問侍應拿了 drink list 看看,打開第一頁只有一項:HK$98 無限任飲汽水、啤酒、礦泉水及菓汁。問問侍應,很詳細解釋礦泉水可選有汽或冇汽;菓汁是鮮搾,還有橙、西柚、西瓜、蜜瓜、菠蘿、紅苺等任君選擇。老公在貪小便宜的心態下,即刻要了2個任飲,還沾沾自喜地說:反正隨便點一杯都要60幾70元,不如任飲!
結果試了西柚汁、橙汁、菠蘿汁、蜜瓜汁。。。飲完覺得好健康。

終於出去取食物!擺放食物的地方,不算太大。有甜品枱、沙律枱、熱食枱、冷盤枱
其中沙律枱位置置最中間,佔的位置都是最多,種類也較多,橄㰖油也有9種選擇。

我一向不太喜愛吃火腿,太鹹了!但我老公則極之愛吃。老公話其中一款是 salami ham,並不突出。至於其他的3款ham(不應該統稱 Parma Ham,因為餐廳沒有注明產地,但肯定不是 Jamon Iberico de Bellota),也相當有特色:其中一款有煙燻味;另外一款較亁身,鹹味及香味皆較重;第三款則較為軟身,火腿的特有香味也較輕。整體來說,三款 ham 的油份雖然都不太夠,但也算各有特色,而且不會像一些廉價 ham,一味得過「鹹」字。以自助餐水準來說,可以同時供應4款不同口味的 ham 已經是很滿意了。

海鮮有青口、翡翠螺、生蠔、脫殼大蝦、帶子;除了生蠔是新鮮即開外,其他都是冰鮮。即開生蠔只得一種,鮮甜,有海水味;一個人食了十隻!

另外,刺身有三文魚、甜蝦、吞拿魚、北寄貝、油甘魚;壽司大約有四、五款。

一向對自助餐的熱葷印象不太好,煮好後的食物放在保温煲內不斷加熱,令到魚、雞等食材都加熱到變老,令鮮味留失。
雖然The Verandah用的是法國名牌"staub"器皿,但一如概往,我只是打開蓋欣賞食物便算

老公就淺嘗:比嘉特豬扒、咖喱雞、牛面頰肉、咕嚕肉及蒸魚。老公話味道非常一般,沒有可推介的食物。

唯一推介:Oyster chowder ,好多切食粒狀的蠔肉,好creamy 

最後食甜品,有不知名的雪糕;3種味道。蛋糕有6種、cookies 有3種、生果有6種
好飽好飽,只淺嘗了朱古力蛋糕及朱古力cookies,味道OK。

到2時半,同老公䏾住過肚離開。

第一次到半島buffet,期望都大。入到去要上一條長樓梯先到,入面環境好靚,有聖誕氣氛之餘又不失華麗〜食物種類方面都好多,沙律刺身海鮮壽司樣樣都好好食,尤其係生蠔,係一d都唔腥,而且又肥大新鮮😋熱食比較少選擇,但水準不錯〜甜品方面啦,佢每件都的的骰骰咁,好精緻,而且都十分美味呢,甜品超讚😋

Ever since my dad had introduced me to it a few years back, when they only did semi-buffet for Sunday lunches, I was always satisfied with the quality of food served. During the month of September, The Verandah had closed down briefly for renovation purposes to make way for a lounge seating area and they have also made a change in their menu as they now offer a full buffet rather than a set three course with a buffet selection of appetisers and desserts

Since they had only just re-opened this month, I decided to go there with my dad for Sunday lunch. The decor of The Verandah is now more sleek and modern, with the cool colours of pale grey and white replacing the previous warmer tones of tan and cream. The buffet area has been extended slightly, with additional tables for seafood (with the inclusion of oysters), hot food station and desserts. Unlike other buffets, they do not have an area for bread (yes I am one of those people that eat bread at buffets
), rather they serve you a bread basket at the start which can be further replenished upon request.

What I ate~

First plate: From bottom to top. smoked salmon with capers, ox tongue terrine and Australian coffin bay oysters with thousand island dressing. The smoked salmon was really salty which was quite disappointing, but I enjoyed the terrine a lot, tender and fatty cubes of ox tongue which just melted in the mouth with the slightly savoury jelly holding it all together. The oysters were fresh and sweet with a slight crunchy texture and it may seem odd that I like to pair it with thousand island dressing, but I find that the sweet tartness of the dressing helps cover up most of the fishiness of the oyster.

Second plate: From bottom to top. Plain cooked scallops, sweet shrimp, aburi salmon sushi and salmon sashimi. The scallops were nice and meaty with a little bounce when you chewed it and I adored the shrimp, very soft and its natural sweetness was so pure. The aburied salmon slices were quite good, torched with Japanese mayo, and the salmon sashimi was fresh, but could be fattier in my opinion.

Third plate: Lamb~ The lamb served at The Verandah never disappoints and both the lamb used in the cutlets and skewers were wonderfully tender with no gamey taste. The mint jelly in the photo was a request from the waiter as they did not have it out in the buffet area at that time, so please do not think I am such a wasteful person to take so much even though I could eat it plain with a spoon~

Fourth plate: Fruit~ I always make sure to eat a lot of fruit in buffets even though it may seem like a waste of tummy space, but it aids digestion and the pineapple served here is always so so sweet~ The blueberries and strawberries were not as good though as they were quite sour.

Dessert plate: From bottom to top. Butter financier, lemon madeline, pear and almond tart and bread and butter pudding. Whenever I see tarts on display, I am automatically drawn to them, maybe because I have a soft spot for short crust pastry.The pear and almond tart here was very good, the almond filling was moist and the pastry was done very well, firm and crunchy with a wonderful buttery flavour. However, my favourite dessert from all the offerings on display would definitely be their bread and butter pudding. The buttery bread slices on top are baked to a crunchy golden brown and the bottom of the pudding was soft and gooey with vanilla-bean flecked custard. Paired with a few spoonfuls of cream anglaise it made a very indulgent dessert. What would have made it even better was if they had been serving vanilla ice-cream that day...

Cheese plate: Since I was already quite full, I only cut a little of three of the four cheeses on offer. Stilton, brie and St. Maure. I have quite a high tolerance for smelly cheeses, and the Stilton here was quite mild, but rich. Out of all cheese, I adore the ones that are the most creamy and gooey, hence brie is always something I pick as it seems to be the most gooey one on offer at most buffets. However, I found one that was even more so this time. The St Maure. This was a goat cheese with a sharp flavour, but I adored the creaminess and spread on the crunchy baguette from the bread basket it was just perfect~

The Verandah is also known for their souffles and as part of the buffet, all guests are served one. The flavours are always different and the one served this time was lemon. Their souffles are always perfectly risen and the faint lemon tang was pleasant. Although nicely made, souffles are still only so-so for me, as I do not like the eggy taste and I find them to be quite sweet.

Tea and coffee was included as part of the buffet, but my latte was really quite bad. Overly bitter with a slighly burnt taste. Disappointing.

Overall, I think the new Verandah is worth paying a visit to. They may not have a huge selection in terms of variety, but the quality is definitely up there. However, I do miss the dark chocolate truffles that they used to serve as petite fours
Oh well~ until next time!

再度追溯到情人節後一個星期的食評了由於情人節正日價錢會翻一倍所以AD 選擇了在情人節後一個星期來這裡補祝節日AD 6:30 便盛裝來到餐廳, 一進大門, 仿英式建築, 高樓底, 大吊燈配上木製吊扇給人一種舒服的感覺, 連旁邊的一台強國家庭也變得安份起來更意想不到的是, 看出窗外還能勉強看到幻彩詠香江呢每次吃半/自助都很小會試麵包和沙律, 一來怕浪費肚容量, 二來怕不能回本加上正儲錢結婚, 就更加沒有機會到比較高級的餐廳了所以輕嘗了麵包和餐湯, 麵包外脆內軟, 有酒店的水準而椰菜清湯雖鮮但偏咸, 其實D 一向不太喜歡西式湯羹類偏濃的烹調方法再來是半自助餐的頭盤, 海鮮的新鮮程度實在無可挑剔屬中上價錢或以上自助餐應有的水準唯一美中不足之處是當日並無供應蟹類食品(蝕!!!)主菜方面, D 點了鴨胸, A 則點了鱸魚柳鴨胸比預期的嫰, 而鱸魚亦煎得剛好雖然已飽了六七成, 仍能順利把兩個主菜清空吃過主菜, 再吃一個瘋狂甜品餐來個最後衝刺macaron, 萄撻, 麵包布甸, 每樣都拿了一點拿完甜點才發現, 餐廳還額外送了梳乎厘配上自家制曲奇, 抱著大肚腩滿足地回家題外話, 這個質素加這個環境配這個

加上正儲錢結婚, 就更加沒有機會到比較高級的餐廳了
所以輕嘗了麵包和餐湯, 麵包外脆內軟, 有酒店的水準
而椰菜清湯雖鮮但偏咸, 其實D 一向不太喜歡西式湯羹類偏濃的烹調方法

拿完甜點才發現, 餐廳還額外送了梳乎厘
配上自家制曲奇, 抱著大肚腩滿足地回家

題外話, 這個質素加這個環境配這個價錢
加上晚餐只是比午餐貴一點點, 算是超值吧
期待明年裝修好後的靚境, 希望有機會再來吧

上星期難得平日放假, 所以約左好朋友來食個豐富既LUNCH.此處既LUNCH其實屬半自助形式, 其實單單只食出面BUFFET既食物都已經好足夠, 但難得相聚我地最終各叫主菜.我就叫左個雞卷做主菜, 老實講滿心期待既主菜最後都係有點失望. 將用雞柳包主雞肝作餡料單睇賣相就非常吸引,可惜味道一般, 連最基本既雞皮都做得唔脆, 雞肉亦有點鞋口.反觀自助取既食物就非常有水準, 魚生好新鮮肥美, 螺肉鮮甜, 我至愛既甜品件件都做得好精緻美味, 特別係個拿破崙好鬆好脆配上中間既CUSTARD CREAM, 真係忍不住食左2件先滿足.大致上食物水準同服務都好好, 不過大家有興趣來單單食佢地既BUFFET都已經足夠, 主菜不叫亦不可惜

我就叫左個雞卷做主菜, 老實講滿心期待既主菜最後都係有點失望. 將用雞柳包主雞肝作餡料單睇賣相就非常吸引,

可惜味道一般, 連最基本既雞皮都做得唔脆, 雞肉亦有點鞋口.

反觀自助取既食物就非常有水準, 魚生好新鮮肥美, 螺肉鮮甜, 我至愛既甜品件件都做得好精緻美味, 特別係個拿破崙好鬆好脆配上中間既CUSTARD CREAM, 真係忍不住食左2件先滿足.
