Compared to the original store in Mongkok, the Shamshuipo branch of Tim Ho Wan is significantly larger, although not as conveniently located (about a 10 min walk from either Prince Edward or Shamshuipo MTR). The seating isn't particularly spacious, but no more cramped than traditional HK restaurants. There's no decor to speak of and the lighting is oddly dim.

The lines are still there, but arriving at 12:45pm on a Saturday, the 2 of us were seated within 20 min (compared to the ridiculous 45min-1hr waits at Mongkok). If you have 4 people, there might be a longer wait. I would suggest larger parties avoid coming here. It's in the clothing wholesale area of Shamshuipo so there's not a whole lot around (except for some children's clothing wholesalers around the corner), so bring a book, iPad or something to pass the time.

We had already chosen our orders while waiting and the food started arriving 5 min after sitting down.

Tea - Unlike other dimsum places, you don't get to choose your tea. You don't even get your own pot! The tea is just a plastic pitcher set on your table.

Baked BBQ Pork Buns - 3 to a plate. Good sized and quite filling with a generous charsiu to bread ratio. Just the right balance of sweet and savory. A must have!

Chiuchow Dumpling - 3 to a steamer. Well-made with a filling different to ones I've had elsewhere. Also, not oily like I've had elsewhere. Give it a try

Shrimp Dumplings - 4 to a steamer and decently sized, but filled with a few small shrimp, rather than larger shrimp. They weren't particularly well-made either, with one apparently not closed properly and another falling apart as it was picked up. Ok, but not outstanding

Glutinous Rice Chicken Steamed in Lotus Leaf - Generous portion, but lots of rice and not a lot of filling. The taste was overpowered by sauce. So-so

BBQ Pork Cheungfan - A smallish portion. The cheungfan portion was well-made, although the pork was mainly the lean portion, which made it difficult to chew. Ok.

All said, Tim Ho Wan is a cheap place to have dimsum with all items under 30, but the quality of some of the items isn't quite up to the purported 5-star standards. If you want a taste, but don't want to wait, order the BBQ buns and some shuimai to go and enjoy them on the way to Ap Liu Street in Shamshuipo.

這店的豉油皇炒麵炒得十分之乾身,絲毫沒有油膩的感覺,而材料多數都是一些蔬菜類的食物,完滿的一餐。

這店的地點上不太方便,還有很多時都有人在等候中,不過都比旺角店好上了不知幾多了,有空應該會再來的食店。

常常都會來這裡飲茶,而這裡有會常常有新的點心出現,今次是食過三種新點心的評價:豉汁牛肉釀涼瓜這一個就不是太好了,因為食落中間的牛肉太膻了,比食羊肉時的味道更加厲害,而落的梳打粉也是太多,食落牛質變得有少少假,而外面的涼瓜也有少少生水的情況出現,即是咬落硬而無味,水準之下的產物。面醬冬瓜蒸魚腐五件魚腐放在冬瓜上托底蒸熟,有濃濃的面醬味道,食落上面的魚腐蒸得十分之稔,因為魚腐吸汁的特性,令個魚腐非常入味,而下面的冬瓜不會蒸得太稔,仍然有爽口但都充滿了麵豉醬和魚湯的味道,可以再叫的點心。南瓜雞粒飯一聽已經是健康之選,六至七件南瓜放在雞肉上面的蒸飯,賣相看來都幾吸引,食落南瓜真是蒸得十分之稔,但又不失南瓜的清甜味道,旁邊的雞也蒸得十分之滑身,比北菇雞飯少了一種油膩感但多了一種清甜和健康感,又是下次必叫的點心。三個點心二個好一個差,不過始終創新都是好事,希望這食店能創出更多的新穎的點心。

只係唔係特別好食,,但一定唔難食!!

但羅白糕真係較差..冇蠟味真係冇咁香,,多羅白少粉感覺寡,,唔似糕

環境唔似一般荼樓飲荼,,大家黎都係為左美食
!!

3個人食到好飽,,埋單$121,,咁既質素,,真係直得排下隊!!

添好運,名氣真係大,喺咁唔方便既地方開,星期日一樣要等成個鐘先有得食,今次一行6人,差唔多試哂佢8成既點心,包括枱枱必食嘅酥皮叉燒包,豬潤腸,蝦餃,燒賣…最好食算係呢個,包鬆化,剛出爐口感超好,一定要趁熱食,不過汁多咗少少呢個有驚喜,足料鮮甜,粥底又夠綿,連一向不喜歡食粥既我都要添食其他點心味道就一般,馬拉糕蒸得過分,食落太濕,沒有馬拉糕應有的彈力;桂花糕一夾即散;豬潤腸部份豬潤又蒸唔熟,腸粉皮又唔算滑。總體嚟講,只係一般酒樓質素,如果要排成個鐘要行咁遠,都係坐得唔舒服既平民食茶點,我一定揀上環既蓮香居囉!!

其他點心味道就一般,馬拉糕蒸得過分,食落太濕,沒有馬拉糕應有的彈力;桂花糕一夾即散;豬潤腸部份豬潤又蒸唔熟,腸粉皮又唔算滑。

總體嚟講,只係一般酒樓質素,如果要排成個鐘要行咁遠,都係坐得唔舒服既平民食茶點,我一定揀上環既蓮香居囉!!

白玉藏珍菌,以薄片冬瓜造成圓柱體,中間釀有滿滿切碎鮮冬菇、竹笙等菇菌, 面層再蓋上一片黑松露,本來不算矜貴的菇菇冬瓜片,就是因為加了這一片黑鑽石後整體變得華貴不少。冬瓜片蒸熟後軟淋清甜,菇菌類味本清淡,份量不多微鹹如蠔油的芡汁為清淡菇菌加了鮮味,最突出是那爽口竹笙碎,跟其他軟滑鮮菇成了對比;黑松露味道真的特別,味道是全碟中最突出的,朋友形容如石油氣氣味,有趣但貼切的形容詞!。

原隻鮑魚雞粒酥,滿滿一碟上桌時引來所有艾瘋向著她拍。滿足味覺前先滿足嗅覺,牛油皮牛油味極香濃,只有些微甜味的外皮鬆脆又熱乎乎,用來做蛋撻也應該很好吃!個子小小的鮑魚煮得軟糯中有彈力,雖不是溏心鮑魚水準,加上鹹甜剛好的濃稠鮑汁後,味道的確有點像酒席中吃到的鮑魚;每隻鮑魚已細心切開一半方便進食,絕不會有狼狽食相出現!雖說有雞粒,但注意力已被鮑魚及牛油皮搶去,雞肉粒可令酥餅口感更豐富但味道幫助不大,這款味道不錯又夠體面的點心是另一個推介。

幾款甜點中,以這款
燕窩蛋白燉鮮奶最合心水,養顏嘛。所用燕窩大約一茶匙左右,在消費者而言當然希望得到更多份量,晶瑩燕窩入口軟滑但蛋白香輕微,也許是用上即食燕窩吧?蛋白鮮奶原來有著微微薑汁味,甜度適中的燉奶有薑香而不辣也蠻有牛奶香,如豆腐花般香軟細滑,水準真不錯的甜點。

只是翌日翻看傳真才發覺,我還訂了鵝肝醬炸粉果的,只是為何沒有出現呢?入座時阿姐也只說我訂了三款點心,呆壽頭當時還回應"對呀對呀!" 連自己也忘記有這款點心,記憶力真壞耶!

除了三款推介點心外,點心紙上的也被我們剔得七七八八。第一次點的
蝦餃質素較一般,不但外觀及味道也只是平平,幸好後期朋友們再點的水準好得多,這才像樣嘛。摺得細緻又彈牙的蝦餃皮半透明的包著蝦肉,每團豐滿蝦肉非常爽口,唯一只欠筍絲,要是連筍絲也有的話那就非常讚了。

棄蟹黃或蟹籽改用養生杞子的
杞子燒賣吃來跟普通燒賣沒兩樣, 加有冬菇片的豬肉團彈牙中有豐盈肉汁,只是整體味道不算得太特別,但她一向是蝦餃好朋友, 飲茶不點燒賣就似乎不夠圓滿了。

潮州粉果每籠三隻, 粉果皮比坊間冷凍版本更為晶瑩, 軟糯外皮抹上油後不黏筷更形滑溜; 餡料都是花生、豬肉、韮菜、蝦米之類,爽口脆口材料皆有,味道也不會有什麼變化,不過有機會餡料不均,如我那隻沒蝦米( 真好!!) MISS 那隻就有一整隻蝦米了。

除蝦餃燒賣是好朋友外,
鳳爪和排骨也是兩生花,今次只試了飽滿多肉的鳳爪,每隻大雞腳也完整無缺,不是煮得皮肉分離的水準, 紅紅豉汁濃香偏甜也有足夠豆豉味,甜甜的味道也蠻討好。

馬粒糕顏色深啡,不是淺黃如雞蛋糕之流,尚算是古式做法的糕身鬆軟有彈性,雞蛋味微香不過甜,水準之上但未及中環萬花紅的出色。

另外兩款
牛肉波及雞包仔沒試,不過每款點心上桌時也冒出蒸氣,新鮮蒸好的相信也不會難吃。

是日重頭點心之一
酥皮叉燒包點得次數最多,皆因水準真的出色!!微黃酥皮焗得香脆,微甜酥皮令柔軟包子多了一重奶甜香酥感,兩種不同口感真讚!叉燒切得還算大粒,蠔油汁調得鹹甜度剛好及濃稠得宜,很像以前家政堂所學的叉燒包餡料味道,餡料份量也算得多,起碼不會出現山洞似的包餡分離,而且剛焗好的包子無論內外也熱乎乎的,趁熱時真的超級好吃,推介!!

飲茶總不可缺少的布拉腸粉也點了幾次,每碟不太透明但薄身的腸粉表面也油亮亮的,看似很油其實不是,皆因所配醬油並沒額外加油份,效果並不如想像中油膩,腸粉軟滑之餘不黏筷,外表跟內涵同樣出色的布拉腸粉水準。
豬膶腸粉有著不少豬膶,蒸得全熟不失爽口,豬膶並沒有加太多額外調味,其獨有內臟味道稍為濃重成為特色;
叉燒腸粉叉燒同樣不少,略有甜味的叉燒配腸粉一向好吃,但
鮮蝦腸粉相對更好吃,只因蝦仁新鮮大隻,爽口蝦仁跟軟糯腸粉配合得更妙! 所用醬油調得夠濃味,只是阿姐每次下得不多,我這豉油怪就不太對味了。

吃了那麼多點心也要吃點蔬菜的;
灼時菜只有一款西生菜沒有其他可選。青翠生菜灼得油潤爽口,不用加醬油更能嚐到其蔬菜味。

糯米雞件頭不細,糯米軟糯有嚼勁,吸收了肉汁及調味又有點荷葉香的糯米飯比當中肉餡更好吃;配搭新鮮的
南瓜雞肉飯,飯粒蒸得稍軟,我比較喜歡有點韌性的米飯,南瓜微甜軟身比雞肉吸引,很有趣的蒸飯配搭;另一款傳統

鮮蝦腐皮卷,炸得香脆的腐皮不用沾喼汁也很好吃,蝦肉餡跟其他鮮蝦點心般爽口;
雪菜雞絲春卷又是另一個新奇配搭,可是雪菜跟雞絲似乎做不成朋友,我還是喜歡普通一點的春卷多一點;

蘿蔔糕真的煎得兩點有點焦,蘿蔔絲也真的不少,不過夏天的蘿蔔始終不是時令,甜美度是不及冬天,小試無妨。

阿姐提醒 9:30是 last order 但也是師傅收工時,阿姐心急等收工,終於連神秘蛋糕也踢爆了,哈哈...壞了一眾朋友的好事!! 中式食肆通常都有這種情況出現,見怪不怪嚕。

「添好運」這間貴為米芝蓮星級食府的點心店,自從成為名店之後,正店始終未有再幫襯過,而這間分店呢?也只在初開業時來過一趟。直到最近,才和幾位朋友一同來到吃午餐。相信因為是平日吧,雖然沒有訂位,也可以即時有位。因為都有數個人的關係,都點了十數款點心,除了鎮店名點,幾乎檯檯必叫的「酥皮焗叉燒包」外,還叫了蝦餃、燒賣、牛肉、腐皮卷、腸粉、排骨、鳳爪、馬拉糕等點心。而在一眾較普通的點心以外,也有一些較為特別的點心,好像「雞蛋二崧餃」、「雪菜雞絲春卷」和「蕃薯西米露」等。這次所吃的點心中,「陳皮牛肉球」和「黃沙豬膶腸」的味道較佳,牛肉球真材實料,彈牙而有陳皮味,豬膶腸腸粉皮頗薄,切碎了的豬膶夾在軟滑的腸粉裡,淋上豉油後味道還不錯。至於較新穎的「雞蛋二崧餃」,口感是特別的,但除了雞蛋餡之外,我卻不大知道二崧是哪二崧呢!而其他的點心,我則印象不深,覺得只是普通而已。除了點心之外,其實這次幫襯也叫了一盅「南瓜雞球飯」,這飯因為加了清甜的南瓜的關係,味道較為豐富,也較一般的北菇雞飯特別,是一款既有新鮮感又來得好味的盅飯。吃過點心與盅飯後,大家仍有點意猶未盡的感覺,於是在店內只得四款的甜點中點選了「蕃薯西米

,豬膶腸腸粉皮頗薄,切碎了的豬膶夾在軟滑的腸粉裡,淋上豉油後味道還不錯
。至於較新穎的「雞蛋二崧餃」,口感是特別的,但除了雞蛋餡之外,我卻不大知道二崧是哪二崧呢

說實在的,個人覺得「添好運」的點心不是不好吃,但又未至於十分好吃,即使是鎮店名點「酥皮焗叉燒包」,這天所吃,也覺得雖然外皮酥脆,內裡的叉燒餡料也燙熱好吃,但餡料的味道卻有點過濃,正所謂過猶不及,自己倒寧願它的味道不要那麼濃好了。

自從「添好運」一登龍門,聲價十倍之後,坊間的點心店彷如雨後春筍般在各區湧現,當中其實不乏有質素的後來者,只不過「添好運」這點心店的先驅之一,比其他大部分的點心店早著先鞭,更早憑一道「酥皮焗叉燒包」打響名堂,得到米芝蓮評審的青睞,因此成為食客不絕的人龍名店。其實,這是否代表「添好運」的運氣好呢?要是當時坊間有更多同樣有不錯水準的點心店出現的話,「添好運」能否脫穎而出,成為當時唯一的米芝運星級點心店,那便不得而知了。
