Chiu chow dishes are one of the favourite local delicacy for people in Hong Kong. Chiu chow dishes are one of the favourite local delicacy for people in Hong Kong. While most of the Chiu Chow places specialize in a category of dishes called "滷水"(marinating food in a salty herbal sauce), Tak Kee offers couple of pleasant surprises for savvy diners. The "sticky rice sausage" (脆皮糯米釀大腸), a name I made up as you probably would be terrified if you know exactly what they are made of, tasted quite good and the crust was very crispy. Deep fried oyster cake, a must-try for Chiu Chow delicacy, was served with a decent portion and fried just right (chefs tend to over cook them, leaving you a plate of charcoal-coloured pancake). As our only light dish of the night, the vege pot balanced out the oiliness of the rest, forming a great complement of the combo.

Interesting note: nothing to do with food but christian-themed slogans are posted on the walls and hymn was played as background music in the toilet, not something you find in a regular Chiu Chow Restaurant (
