Originally wanted to eat at another restaurant when I saw that this one was next door. So, decided to give it a try as I haven't had Korean in quite a while.

Han Ha Rum is your typical old style Korean restaurant. They are fairly busy at lunch hour and have a variety of lunch sets under $100 that include appetizers, rice and a dessert. I ordered the L.A. Gaih Bi lunch set for $75.

You should note that there are no sharing of lunch sets. Every one has to order at least one. I guess girls on diets and like to share one set should avoid.

Chilled Eggplant. A bunch of appetizers were given to me. This I liked. The eggplant was tasty and not too spicy.

Chilled Beansprouts and Spinach. This appetizer lacked flavor. Usually there is a bit of sesame flavor but it was just all together bland.

Kimchi. A mark of a good Korean restaurant, as my father used to say, is how well the restaurant makes their kimchi. This was pretty bad kimchi. It was not only not spicy AT ALL (and I can't eat spicy), it was just way too sour.

Fishcakes. This was not spicy. I realized at this point that this  restaurant wasn't spicy at all. Or at least not as spicy as other Korean restaurants. I wonder if they have changed to adapt to the Hong Kong locals? Anyways ... the fishcakes were all right even if they weren't spicy.

Potatoes. This was a bit too sweet but at least soft. For an appetizer, this was a pretty generous portion.

Korean Soup. This was your basic Korean soup of daikon, beef and onion. But all I could taste was the super abundance of white pepper.

L.A. Gaih Bi (marinated sliced beef rib) ($75). Portion size was pretry decent. Beef was moist though some were super tough to bite into. Tasted ok.

Dessert was a choice of mochi ice cream or red date tea. I chose mochi ice cream as I don't like red date tea. No point taking a photo of that. It's just your typical frozen mochi balls in a plastic bag majority of restaurants buy in.

The service, I'd like to point out, was rude. I was sharing a table with a deaf couple. When my lunch set came, it was accidently given to them. They sat confused and tried to grab attention to ask for help. I realized the set was mine and remarked to the waiter the error. The staff, without an apology or even bothering to say anything to either of us, just slid my beef ribs across the table at me, like he was doing curling or something. Later the deaf couple, using hand signs, tried to ask for a piece of paper. A common mistake that the staff thought they wanted the bill. But they wanted paper to ask for some hot sauce. Staff, after realizing they are deaf, gave them paper, looked down and said "oh they want hot sauce." Another staff asked "which kind of hot sauce do they want?" Neither wanted to write on the paper to ask the couple and just said to themselves "It doesn't matter. Just give them anything." I thought all this was rather rude.

Mediocre Korean even if the prices weren't expensive combined with rude service, will not have me return again.
