Sisters and friends from overseas wanted to have local breakfast. One wanted to try the Hong King style tea with condensed milk and French toast stuffed with peanut butter, whilst my sisters wanted steamed rice rolls with deep fried dough sticks and local coffee with milk, and my husband and I wanted plain steamed rice rolls with lots of sweet sauce, peanut sauce as well as sesame plus instant noodles with fried egg and beef in satay sauce. Finding a table for 6 in a local coffee shop is not that easy, but there’s a relatively spacious and clean one in Kowloon City that met all our requirements. Their kitchen made their own deep fried dough and offered different kinds with different flavors and shapes.
Congee and steamed rice rolls were freshly made upon order, and custom-made ones like rolls with fried egg were available. Staff was friendly and sample of stewed pig skins and boiled turnip were offered free of charge for us to try when they heard our overseas friends came all the way to the shop.
