I've always been intruiged by how different hand-made pasta can be from normal store-bought pasta, so we decided to try Pici out for dinner one day. The portions were horrifyingly small, and of the 4 pasta dishes we ordered, none were able to fill us up. In fact, 3 of the 4 dishes we tried were average at best, with basic al-dente taste of home-cooked pasta. 1. Squid pasta- Pasta was tangy, and sauce was not rich. 1. Squid pasta
- Pasta was tangy, and sauce was not rich. It tasted like an average plate of pasta you could get from saizeriya for less than 1/4 of the price.
- Seafood was well made, but was nothing spectacular. Tasted like average shrimp
2. Beef lasagna
- I have never seen a lasagna this small before! Too small for its price.
- The sauce was rich and the cheese was well baked to the surface a crunchy texture, but otherwise unremarkable
3. Beef fettuccine
- This was the best of the 4 we've tried. The pasta texture was significantly different from the rest, and you could taste that this was very rich and fresh. Whilst the amount of beef was minimal, the freshness of the pasta and the perfect al-dente texture made up for it
- Would reccomend this one to anyone trying out Pici
4. Tortellini
- Almost 160HKD for around 8 tortellini. That’s almost $20 for one. Absolutely ridiculously priced
- Cheese and meat were poorly texturized and did not compliment each other at all. Tasted quite crumbly
• Service•
- Very fake ‘wannabe’ western service
- Gave tiny pieces of palm sized bread as ‘starters’ but it was placed in a PAPER bag, with only ONE per person. No refills
- If you’re going to give bread, then be generous with it
Overall would not come here again.
