Attracted by the name Crazy Noodles (瘋狂小面) of this restaurant, my sister and I had a new and enjoyable food encounter this afternoon.This restaurant specializes in Sichuan styled spicy noodles. We order two signature noodle sets recommended by the chef.Noodles with minced pork and mashed peas (瘋狂碗雜麵) are delicious. It is not spicy. Noodles with minced pork and mashed peas (瘋狂碗雜麵) are delicious. It is not spicy. By mixing the minced pork, mashed peas, shallots, peanuts, sauce, vegetables, etc., the noodles taste very well. The texture of the noodles is al dente but smooth.
Noodles with pig intestines in red soup (瘋狂肥腸麵) is spicy and authentic. We choose the lowest degree of spiciness (小麻小辣). Yet, the soup is rich and full of flavour. The pig intestines are thoroughly cleaned with fat tissues removed and cooked for several hours. They are tender and tasteful.
We also try a stewed platter (鹵水拼盆). The pig intestines (豬大腸), beef shin (牛腱), pig tongue (豬脷) and beef stripes (牛肚) are nice.
A dessert and drink are included in the set. The smoke plum juice (烏梅汁) is very good. It is perfect to finish the lunch with Chengdu jello (成都老冰粉) and snow fungus sweet soup (紅棗銀耳湯). Both are not very sweet but special.
We are happy with this new dining experience and will revisit. Price is affordable. Two sets and a platter cost about $300.
